Weird fucking story tbh. Apparently the shooter got CTE from playing football in college and decided to shoot up the NFL offices. Got off on the wrong floor and blasted some of the worst capitalists in America instead.

[-] Dessa@hexbear.net 84 points 8 months ago

Granted, had he gotten off in the right floor, he would have also killed some of the worst capitalists in America

[-] Asafum@feddit.nl 56 points 8 months ago

Pick a floor any floor, they're all the correct floor for some shooting!

[-] GiantSpoonWielder@lemmygrad.ml 54 points 8 months ago

I'm not convinced by anything two pigs say about the events. They have an interest in depoliticizing and obscuring the motivations for violence against the ruling class. Maybe a happy accident, but maybe not an accident at all. In either case the world is better off with fewer of these leaches.

LePatner helped organize a trip to Israel last year for senior women on Wall Street

i-cant

she used to work for Goldman Sachs too. a truly worthless leech upon society who dedicated her life to the upwards transfer of wealth, and to making housing unaffordable. rot in piss

[-] culpritus@hexbear.net 15 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

While looking into her a bit, I came across the term 'humanitarian zionism'.

Are we finally entering an era of mass shootings at people who actually deserve it?

[-] Monk3brain3@hexbear.net 53 points 8 months ago

I really do hope so. The elites did nothing when schoolchildren were and are getting shot daily and now every psycho has a mini armory. At least its finally being put to good use

[-] halfpipe@hexbear.net 29 points 8 months ago

Ironically, US mass shooters switching their targets away from schools and walmarts and towards office buildings and institutions will absolutely cause congress to start pushing heavy gun control laws.

[-] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 11 points 8 months ago

That being said, also keep speaking ill of the pigs. It just might get hate speech and hate groups banned as well.

[-] Monk3brain3@hexbear.net 10 points 8 months ago

That also crossed my mind. At least school children won't risk their lives to get educated

[-] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 28 points 8 months ago

Going to be cautiously optimistic. Let's hope this all starts giving some pause to these ghouls gleefully ruining the world.

[-] anarchoilluminati@hexbear.net 23 points 8 months ago

I think it may depend upon how the public reacts to this shooting.

Honestly, if they react the way they did with UnitedHealth, despite the condemnation from the media, then I would completely expect to see more capitalists getting capped. Shooters are usually deprived of social relations, etc. and would be desperate to be seen as heroes by the public, which would be just a pure :waow:.

[-] bdonvr@thelemmy.club 9 points 8 months ago

From what I heard so far I think this one was chance not targeted at this person. I'd hold off until we get more info on the motive

But either way sounds like one less shithead

[-] anarchoilluminati@hexbear.net 12 points 8 months ago

Yeah, that's what people mentioned here too. So, sounds like the motive was unrelated/missing but the outcome was acceptable.

Maybe the motive will throw people off, since United had a vengeance element. In which case, I think we could tentatively say USians approve of revenge killings of CEOs.

Two senior law enforcement officers said the suspect was targeting the National Football League’s office, but ended up on the floor of another company by mistake.

I prefer to call it a happy little accident

[-] Hohsia@hexbear.net 8 points 8 months ago

It’s hard for me to believe that’s the truth, seeing it’s coming from people who lie for their job

[-] MayoPete@hexbear.net 49 points 8 months ago

Dear shooter, may you reincarnate as a butterfly or something else cool 🦋🦋🦋

[-] NephewAlphaBravo@hexbear.net 33 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

spend a few lifetimes chilling as a deep sea fish or something out of harm's way, and come back out once we've achieved communism

[-] LeeeroooyJeeenkiiins@hexbear.net 19 points 8 months ago

god no life as any kind of fish is fucking horrifying

[-] MayoPete@hexbear.net 11 points 8 months ago

IDK whale life sounds fun. Of course humans have to ruin it with fishing and filling the oceans with all sorts of plastics and waste :/

[-] LeeeroooyJeeenkiiins@hexbear.net 12 points 8 months ago

Whales aren't fish though. But tbh the exact same reasoning applies- parasites. I might be wrong but my understanding is essentially nothing in the ocean escapes them. You're constantly swimming through a larval soup. And almost all of them are horrifying, like that isopod that eats and then effectively replaces tongues. Or how Greenland sharks all have copepods chewing through their eyes that make them blind.

How are there different evil real estate companies named Blackrock and Blackstone? What kind of Wario/Waluigi shit is this?

[-] anarchoilluminati@hexbear.net 14 points 8 months ago

I thought Blackstone became Blackrock? They're actually different?

[-] Carl@hexbear.net 17 points 8 months ago

They're both investment firms founded in the 80s but by different people.

She was also a Zionist? What are the odds of that?!

[-] bennieandthez@lemmygrad.ml 28 points 8 months ago

like 99%? you won't find anyone remotely anti-zionist in the upper echelons of Blackstone of all places lol

[-] sewer_rat_420@hexbear.net 39 points 8 months ago

So was this collateral damage, considering he was supposedly targeting the NFL?

Regardless, man goes on shooting rampage at building full of evil people and an evil person died. Shocker

Rest in peace to the security guard and the shooter, who were both working class.

[-] stink@lemmygrad.ml 56 points 8 months ago

Sec guard was an offduty cop

[-] purpleworm@hexbear.net 33 points 8 months ago

If you're working security at that high a level, you kind of need to be viewed as a collaborator.

[-] sewer_rat_420@hexbear.net 26 points 8 months ago

I was trying to give some benefit of the doubt and pictured someone like the security guard at my local CVS and makes near minimum wage. But probably right, and if he was an off duty cop then definitely right that he is a collaborator.

We all need a little bit of adventure in our lives, not everything has to be for the revolution

Buy that last minute ticket to Ibiza, drop a tab of acid before the job interview, shoot up a real estate office, order your coffee black

Welcome to c/news! We aim to foster a book-club type environment for discussion and critical analysis of the news. Our policy objectives are:

We ask community members to appreciate the uncertainty inherent in critical analysis of current events, the need to constantly learn, and take part in the community with humility. None of us are the One True Leftist, not even you, the reader.

Newcomm and Newsmega Rules:

The Hexbear Code of Conduct and Terms of Service apply here.

  1. Link titles: Please use informative link titles. Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.

  2. Content warnings: Posts on the newscomm and top-level replies on the newsmega should use content warnings appropriately. Please be thoughtful about wording and triggers when describing awful things in post titles.

  3. Fake news: No fake news posts ever, including April 1st. Deliberate fake news posting is a bannable offense. If you mistakenly post fake news the mod team may ask you to delete/modify the post or we may delete it ourselves.

  4. Link sources: All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include the Xcancel.com (or another Nitter instance) or at least strip out identifier information from the twitter link. There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance, such as Libredirect or archive them as you would any other reactionary source.

  5. Archive sites: We highly encourage use of non-paywalled archive sites (i.e. archive.is, web.archive.org, ghostarchive.org) so that links are widely accessible to the community and so that reactionary sources don’t derive data/ad revenue from Hexbear users. If you see a link without an archive link, please archive it yourself and add it to the thread, ask the OP to fix it, or report to mods. Including text of articles in threads is welcome.

  6. Low effort material: Avoid memes/jokes/shitposts in newscomm posts and top-level replies to the newsmega. This kind of content is OK in post replies and in newsmega sub-threads. We encourage the community to balance their contribution of low effort material with effort posts, links to real news/analysis, and meaningful engagement with material posted in the community.

  7. American politics: Discussion and effort posts on the (potential) material impacts of American electoral politics is welcome, but the never-ending circus of American Politics© Brought to You by Mountain Dew™ is not welcome. This refers to polling, pundit reactions, electoral horse races, rumors of who might run, etc.

  8. Electoralism: Please try to avoid struggle sessions about the value of voting/taking part in the electoral system in the West. c/electoralism is right over there.

  9. AI Slop: Don't post AI generated content. Posts about AI race/chip wars/data centers are fine.
