The Department of Homeland Security is scrapping age limits for new Immigration and Customs Enforcement recruits as it ramps up hiring with a major funding boost from Congress.

Previously, applicants had to be at least 21 and no older than 37 or 40, depending on the role within the agency tasked with locating, arresting and detaining noncitizens lacking legal status. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem told Fox & Friends that applicants as young as 18 could now be "trained and ready."

So this makes sense if you're approaching it from the angle that now kicking people out of fortress america is the primary concern of empire and not fighting foreign wars. All these benefits and pay where what the military has traditionally offered high school graduates, the "poverty draft", but my guess is the bourgeoise is now concerned only with what's going on here and not abroad anymore.

Just because they realize starting a war right now would be suicidal, doesn't mean they are not concerned. They are absolutely concerned, otherwise they wouldn't be constantly making strategic deals to try and isolate China, and they wouldn't continue spreading the same propaganda that they've been spreading for years. Thinking that the US empire suddenly only cares about domestic matters now is a mistake when the regime is literally staffed with warmongers like Rubio who make mask-off comments about their intentions.

Is it just me or does it seem like MAGA has kinda cooled off on that a bit. I haven't seen either Trump or any CHUD online mention China in a while, if anything Iran seems to be their new foreign boogie man and even then it seems they've all pivoted to focusing on domestic issues.

Lobbyists and military companies trying to open up a new avenue for hardware sales as an extra motivator?

Yeah that's probably right. Now that I think of it they weren't exactly recruiting the best to begin with in the first place.

If I were 18 and a fucking chud you have to wonder too if you sign up for ICE what your job looks like after trump's term ends. And with how much so many people fucking despise you it all together kinda begs the question of why you wouldn't just be a cop, soldier or a border hog instead.

Also: YAY! Let's give 18 year olds handguns and anonymity. I'm sure that will end well. I remember being 18-19. I was definitely a well-reasoned, rational adult, and not still an impulsive, hormonal teenager. Sure sure.
