He's going to prove to them he doesn't have a drinking problem by not drinking anything during the entire meeting.

Relying solely on huffing hand sanitiser which does NOT count. You are drinking it SMALL through your NOSE and not BIG through your MOUTH.

Going to invade Venezuela calling it.

[-] SpookyBogMonster@lemmy.ml 34 points 1 week ago

If that happens, I desperately need every gringo leftist to read Building The Commune and actually have solidarity with a Socialist state.

[-] yogthos@lemmygrad.ml 22 points 1 week ago

seems likely

Trump isn't satisfied with his own personal metaphorical Vietnam of avoiding STDs in the 90s, wants a literal, national-level Vietnam.

Why would they need to pull brass from bases worldwide for that? This reads to me like more of a loyalty test than anything.

That or "You're fired!".

I'm afraid it's something to do with China.

[-] purpleworm@hexbear.net 24 points 1 week ago

Given the actual repeated military action against Venezuela and the fact that China is way more powerful and even the generous public estimates from our local warmongers still put war with China as being like a 2030 thing, it's almost certainly an attack on Venezuela.

I think it would be way better if it was an attack on China, because China would be able to repel the attack, unlike Venezuela in all likelihood.

Venezuela would ultimately repel an American invasion, but it would do so at the cost of many Venezuelan working class and peasant lives.

The US air force could easily destroy the country if the President so chose, and I think he'd pick that over losing because the navy got repelled.

People need to stop believing the US is god. There's no fucking way it could "easily destroy the entire country" with anything short of a massive nuclear barrage. Why didn't they easily destroy Vietnam or Afghanistan?

[-] stink@lemmygrad.ml 5 points 1 week ago

I get in this argument all the time with normies lol. When talking about a potential Iran invasion people say the same thing.

[-] jack@hexbear.net 4 points 1 week ago

the country that constantly loses every war is starts would definitely easily win the next war it will start

[-] purpleworm@hexbear.net 1 points 1 week ago

I don't think Iran is remotely comparable. Obviously the US would not exactly be favored against Iran, but Iran is incomparably more militarily capable (except for their letting high-ranking personnel get assassinated left and right, I guess) as well as a harder target for geographic reasons.

Plus, Venezuela has large swathes of its population organized into People's militias, trained and organized by the Communes.

Venezuelan Socialism, for all of its faults, is an actual thing people are motivated to defend. Unlike, for instance, the moribund husk that was Ba'athism in Iraq, which got easily toppled.

[-] purpleworm@hexbear.net 1 points 1 week ago

They've destroyed so many countries, and if they don't actually care about what happens with the rubble then that gives them much more leeway than they had with a country like Afghanistan, which they already did do a great deal of damage to. Venezuela is already struggling due to the years of blockades.

[-] ChaosMaterialist@hexbear.net 42 points 1 week ago

Leadership purge, calling it.

[-] Nopeace@hexbear.net 18 points 1 week ago

I was thinking the same thing

[-] DerEwigeAtheist@hexbear.net 18 points 1 week ago

[-] Le_Wokisme@hexbear.net 12 points 1 week ago

[-] stink@lemmygrad.ml 4 points 1 week ago

Do you think it'll be like when Omni-Man merks them all or will it be soy-pilled firing

[-] SacredExcrement@hexbear.net 28 points 1 week ago

Every country not aligned with the US should be doing the same

[-] BadTakesHaver@hexbear.net 13 points 1 week ago
