It's like one of those early AI images where you can't distinguish anything from anything else

Anybody else think this well is comically small compared to the rest of the property?

[-] john_brown@hexbear.net 16 points 2 months ago

That's yard decoration, not a real well

[-] ClathrateG@hexbear.net 15 points 2 months ago

Well don't you think it's a comically small lawn decoration compared to the rest of the property?

I like to think the owner ordered that and thought it would be bigger, but just ran with it

Architectural style: Barndominium

[-] huf@hexbear.net 19 points 2 months ago

i've watched a bunch of barndo tour videos on yt over the last few years because it's like looking at strange alien life forms. just baffling.

anyway, america's answer to mcmansions, which were already america's answer to whatever the hell they were

4 bedrooms

7 car garage

We need to shut Americans down until we can figure out what's going on.

[-] robot_dog_with_gun@hexbear.net 11 points 2 months ago

7 cars might not be enough for a 4-bedroom polycule.

It's fascinating how there's simultaneously no space to do anything but too much space without walls to do anything. It's formless yet cramped.

Also the fucking bathroom looks like it's from a bar?! But worse?! WAIT IS THE DOOR TOO BIG FOR THE FRAME? WHO INSTALLED ALL THE WALL CRAP LIKE THAT? WHY DIDNT YOU BUILD A COUNTER?!

The rest of the house I can explain through the opulent hubris of the Yankee Mind but the bathroom being absolute dog shit in terms of just... cosntruction? Indefensible. Grover Bathroom.

Edit: wait I didn't even notice there was a link to the listing.

Oh shit it actually /does/ look like they stapled some kind of tower into a warehouse.

Every chair has office wheels? Every table is surrounded by office chairs? The whole building just looks like a bar?????? Why are there so many random seating options in the worse places?

Oh good cloth upholstered bench across from a sink in a bathroom. Glad we're just destroying that.

That bedroom in the ceiling has to be absolute misery in the winter oh my god it would go from freezing to broiling every 5 feet you walk wouldn't it? Probably worse if I had to guess about the state of the plumbing, gas and insulation in the rest of the house.

The two barstools at the top of the tower are fantastic. No tables or cabinets for anything you might want to keep up there, no back support for looking out. Symmetrical as the shining twins as it should be.

The nature on the property looks kinda nice though. Just gotta kill the lawn (it's on its last legs anyway).

the bar bathroom vibe enhances the cocaine experience

It would look better if it had more wood paneling

[-] huf@hexbear.net 8 points 2 months ago

and fewer trees around it

[-] volcel_olive_oil@hexbear.net 18 points 2 months ago

some of the wood paneling of all time

[-] shath@hexbear.net 10 points 2 months ago

some of the wood paneling all of the time

Garage Mahal

visible-disgust

NGL, I'd totally be down for a property and place like this if the interior wasn't designed by a child. These post frame barns are pretty enticing when you can build out the interior however you like (case in point) and they always put heated flooring in, which just sounds super comfy for once fall comes around.

visible-disgust all that wood in the bathroom, the urinal in the bathroom, fucking Scot's Place wannabe fucking throne, the man cave "aesthetic" of every random bullshit sign you find in a hardware store/facebook marketplace

I usually love the wood cabin look but this just looks like shit

[-] nothx@hexbear.net 7 points 2 months ago

Yeah, this looks like the original owner built it cuz they liked it and the current owner tried to force their aesthetic on it.

[-] PKMKII@hexbear.net 15 points 2 months ago

Scott’s Place is really bothering me here. First off, the ugly as fuck recliner being off-center and too far back. It seems like a PITA to get that recliner out of there as it’s too narrow and the step is just asking for an accident. But then, we can tell that ceiling is barely taller than the door. Assuming a standard 80 inch door, and using the other chair as reference I’m thinking Scott’s Place is 18-20 inches off the floor. That means there’s only about five feet of vertical space in there. You’d be hitting your head on the ceiling every time you got up.

[-] segfault11@hexbear.net 16 points 2 months ago

when i saw that i thought “that looks like a pretty lonely spot to sit at. i hope it’s at least facing a TV or something.” in the next picture it is facing a blank wall cowboy-cri

[-] oscardejarjayes@hexbear.net 11 points 2 months ago

isn't it facing out the window? and there's a bookshelf next to it too, where it looks like he probably reads the books on the second-to-bottom shelf.

[-] 7bicycles@hexbear.net 14 points 2 months ago

what if a garage was a repair shop which is a bar

[-] PKMKII@hexbear.net 16 points 2 months ago

But also a log cabin

[-] Awoo@hexbear.net 13 points 2 months ago

The wooden panels EVERYWHERE inside is gross.

What's with the weird church tower thing? It's the ugliest thing about it architecturally and yet there's no photos showing what the inside of that part looks like.

[-] Commie_Chameleon@hexbear.net 13 points 2 months ago

I think this is it?

I’ll be honest the first thing that came to mind is this would be a great spot for a smoke sesh lol

[-] Awoo@hexbear.net 6 points 2 months ago

I’ll be honest the first thing that came to mind is this would be a great spot for a smoke sesh lol

it's never going to be used for anything else lol

It's amazing how they manage to make that much square footage look so cramped.

Optional Challenges:

  • Count the chairs
  • Discern the purpose of the Plywood Tunnel to Nowhere
  • Find the architect and hold him accountable for his (c'mon, no woman would've touched this project with a ten foot pole) crimes
[-] context@hexbear.net 6 points 2 months ago

Discern the purpose of the Plywood Tunnel to Nowhere

i think that's a set of stairs leading up into the main house from one of the garage-type rooms. there's another angle here where you can see the wall behind the "cat's meow" door is a ramp.

NGL, I'd probably dig living there.

[-] PurrLure@hexbear.net 11 points 2 months ago

3 bedrooms for 3.3 million dollars? Wowie, that's 1.1mil per bedroom, what a steal!

Anyway, this is the kinda guy driving a $80k truck and insisting he's working class because he loves the aesthetic while being a fucking CEO or some shit.

[-] red_stapler@hexbear.net 10 points 2 months ago
[-] OptimusSubprime@hexbear.net 10 points 2 months ago

Seeing a motherfucker recreating Possum Lodge from The Red Green Show as their entire aesthetic was not on my bingo card this year.

[-] azimir@lemmy.ml 10 points 2 months ago

Their house... Has a urinal. A for reals urinal.

Maintaining this amount of square footage must take forever. How do you even make use of it all?

[-] Commie_Chameleon@hexbear.net 6 points 2 months ago

The Urinal kills me. Fuck you if you have to poop or sit to pee, it’s squatting time

[-] RedWizard@hexbear.net 10 points 2 months ago

What's up with Scott's Place? Is it like a shrine to PawPaw and his favorite chair?

[-] Commie_Chameleon@hexbear.net 12 points 2 months ago

A shrine to divorced dads everywhere, those here in the present, those who have passed, and those in the future, still trapped in marriages everywhere (please come back Sharon I love you)

[-] AntiOutsideAktion@hexbear.net 9 points 2 months ago

With all the junk on the walls, I bet he and his wife never run out of things to talk about

[-] BoxedFenders@hexbear.net 9 points 2 months ago

What is he doing on that elevated velvet throne?

[-] nothx@hexbear.net 10 points 2 months ago

Im sure nothing. I feel like someone with enough disposable income to have this large of a property and house would do that as a shitpost and think the boys will chuckle when they see it.

[-] came_apart_at_Kmart@hexbear.net 7 points 2 months ago

i would love to have an indoor shed area like that for fixing equipment and absurd art projects. or like hosting the occasional stupid huge gathering.

with just a little bit of air handling and some commercial equipment, you could go insane with growing fuckloads of potatoes, storing them somewhere consistent temp/humidity, and even processing them into like your own custom french fries for sale to nearby restaurants and retail grocers.

otherwise, that place looks like groverhaus if he won the lotto and had professional contractors and an architect to try bring a manchild's incomprehensible scribblings to life.

[-] LeeeroooyJeeenkiiins@hexbear.net 7 points 2 months ago

Lodge style, Garage Mahal Barndominium

[-] JoeByeThen@hexbear.net 7 points 2 months ago

Fuck. I just realized that's 77.4 acres. I'd absolutely take that. Shitty interior and all.
