The officer apparently tried to tuck a gun into his pants instead of using a holster, failed, dropped the gun, and menaced bystanders in response to his own failure

I stayed just outside of DC a couple weeks ago. I went into a run-down Dunkin and it was operated entirely in Spanish aside from the cashier knowing just enough English to take orders from people who aren't fluent in Spanish. I knew enough Spanish to be able to get my order when it was called. As I was leaving, a cop came in and started counting every brown person there. He made a big show of it, too, and people started panicking.

I honestly didn't know what to do in that situation. I was hungover as hell, broke, and had to drive 5 hours to get home so I could wake up for work the next day. I decided to just hang out and make sure the cop knew that I was watching him. I had my phone out and ready to record if more serious shit started happening. After a few minutes, the cop went back outside to his squad car and I pretended like I totally just happened to be leaving at the same time. When I blatantly eavesdropped on the cop and his buddy in the squad car outside, I heard them laughing about the whole thing. Apparently terroizing immigrants and their families is a fucking game to those bastards.

The patrons of the place cleared out immediately after the cops were gone. I stayed parked at that Dunkin for a good half an hour after everyone who could leave did and nothing else happened.

I have no idea if I should have done something more in that situation. I wanted to tell the cop to get the fuck out of there. I wanted to say some witty shit like "Oh man, I didn't order ice with my coffee."

I kinda freaked out internally when I realized what was happening but I couldn't bring myself to just leave despite my instincts telling me to. So I just made my presence and opposition to the cop known in a way that couldn't (legally) get me arrested and hoped for the best.

I drive a school bus for a semi rural city in Arkansas. A large portion of the kids that ride my bus are Hispanic. I have had nightmares about this shit since the election.

I'm a white blonde blue eye cishet man and I'm still being hit by the unabashed cruelty and evil. I just want to get off.

Pointing a gun at someone is assault.

[-] DaddleDew@lemmy.world 21 points 1 week ago

Where the fuck was he taught to tuck his gun in his belt like this? Fucking hastily trained amateurs.

[-] ThePantser@sh.itjust.works 13 points 1 week ago

Trained? Don't they just apply, given a gun, mask, and pointed towards a brown person?

[-] calliope@retrolemmy.com 5 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Nah, it’s not the police. These imbeciles probably bring their own guns, which is why this one dropped his.

Fucking meatheads.

[-] PhilipTheBucket@quokk.au 3 points 1 week ago

The bullets fell out of his gun, too, and he didn't notice them on the ground the whole time he was walking around even when he stepped on them. And I don't think he put one in the chamber before the whole debacle got underway. If shit had gone sideways and he'd pulled the trigger, nothing would have happened, I think.

I thought maybe one of the spare magazines fell out of his vest, but it looks like he has 3 before and 3 after. I think he was unarmed that whole time.

An ICE agent pointing a gun at someone like this deserves to be fired. He basically doubled down on his own incompetency.

[-] LordCrom@lemmy.world 22 points 1 week ago

Problem is, who is the officer? No name, no badge number, unmarked car....

This is how the riots start. Sooner or later one of these untrained ice agents will shoot a civilian because he is scared. Somebody in that crowd will shoot back....and then it begins.

*deserves to be shot. Like all gestapo.

[-] Wilco@lemmy.zip 10 points 1 week ago

That would get him shot in my state. This guy wasn't masked, but if they are masked they can be considered criminals, a criminal pointing a gun at you is 100% self defense if you shoot him. It would never go to court.

No badge is about the same, but not as blatant/clear cut. You can say you thought he was a criminal, but the issue would need to go to court. In the end he pointed his gun at bystanders so shooting at him would likely be self defense ... but how fair would the system be?

[-] DreamlandLividity@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago

Forget fired, they should face criminal charges as anyone else would if they pointed a gun on someone without a reason.

[-] Catma@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

So what you are saying is they are going to promote them?

[-] ShaggySnacks@lemmy.myserv.one 3 points 1 week ago

That ICE Agent gots management written all over them.

[-] Lawyerator@lemmy.world 14 points 1 week ago

Per the article, these are Florida asssholes in Maryland. Sounds like wannabe slave catchers to me.

[-] BanMe@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago

Apparently that's a tactic, using soldiers - I'm sorry, "agents," domestically you have to move them to a different location or they get soft.

[-] kreskin@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

That dumb fat bastard looks pretty soft. Pointing his gun helps him compensate for being a fascist bitch.

[-] bold_atlas@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Being a fascist bitch is probably not the only short coming that piggy is compensating for. Lost of useless shriveled up roid-roasted nuts in ICE.

Yeah, some people also have a problem being seen stomping their own neighbours.

ICE isn't so tough when they're not slamming defenseless women into the ground, are they?

[-] Guitarfun@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

If they were so tough, why aren't they going after actual gang members? Not old ladies they say have "gang connections".

[-] DeathByBigSad@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 week ago

Believe it or not, you have gang connections too. You live on the same planet as a notorious violent gangster. DETAINED!

He should have been taken down by a good guy with a gun immediately - pointing a gun at someone is a felony, and these brown coats have no training or accountability.

[-] Washedupcynic@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 week ago

Why are we not calling them, "red hats?"

[-] bitjunkie@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Because they don't wear them. They're all in Tacticool™ camo.

[-] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 3 points 1 week ago

Red Hats are the rank & file idiots, and also his Insurrectionists.

ICE is a whole other level. Think Brown Shirts vs Gestapo

[-] My_IFAKs___gone@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

They're being called Brown Coats? Malcom Reynolds would be furious to learn this.

[-] pau_hana@feddit.org 7 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I love the Firefly reference, but I think they meant the brownshirts: Braunhemden)

Outrageous. This is not okay.

[-] NotMyOldRedditName@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

isn't losing his gun like that a serious internal offence as well?

[-] CaptDust@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 week ago

The gun fumble omfg, guy being kidnapped very nearly grabbed it. Then it takes 8 minutes for 4 guys to put on handcuffs and get out of the intersection!?! Reckless, untrained and dangerous for everyone around them.

[-] Diva@lemmy.ml 9 points 1 week ago

Drops his own gun next to the hand of the guy he's arresting, then hastily picks it up to point it at the people recording him. Incredible.

[-] calliope@retrolemmy.com 8 points 1 week ago

It’s worth watching in the video. The incompetence is a sight to behold.

The jacked-up idiot drops his gun at about 57 seconds in. Then the man he’s holding down bats it five feet away and the clown dives after it.

Such a hero

[-] PhilipTheBucket@quokk.au 3 points 1 week ago

I kept waiting for his glasses to fall off.

[-] mintiefresh@piefed.ca 3 points 1 week ago

Lmao. The glasses really sent me.

Somehow this is real life.

Nth tale from a fascist country.
And make no mistake:, fascist countries are like that because they're inhabited by fascist people.

[-] Lucky_777@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Republicans wonder why people don't like ICE here. Wtf.

They don’t wonder. They revel in the fact that city folks hate ice. They’re just whiny little bitches with persecution complexes. They’re only joy is thinking they got back at their perceived enemies.

[-] AbidanYre@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Too bad he didn't shoot himself in the dick.

[-] beansbeansbeans@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Too small of a target.

[-] Zombiepirate@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Who'd have guessed that fascist trash is incompetent?

Go ahead. Shoot me.

I wonder, how many people regret saying it because they've been actually shot. Ah, yes. None. Good line.

[-] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

I said it once. Felt like the only option. Luckily it didn't backfire
