Israel trying to pass the hospital bombing off as Palestine doing it is utterly disgusting and guarantees Netanyahu a spot in the deepest pit of Hell for all eternity, obviously, but do not forget that

a) the only reason why Westerners will believe it is because they want to believe it - they are not being brainwashed and this is not some masterful propaganda being weaved around us to turn kind-hearted people into monsters,

b) no Westerner opinions matter at all. In most Western countries there is no real anti-Israel option to vote for even if they did realize that Israel was a giant factory for crimes against humanity, and Westerners protesting against things in general almost never achieves anything (tens of millions protested for BLM in 2020 and not only did the situation not change, it got worse), and

c) the people whose opinions do matter (both the people in the region, and the leaders who aren't already Zionist compradors) already know that Israel is full of shit and that they just murdered nearly a thousand civilians in a single bomb attack.

It is despair-inducing to think that the genocidal Zionist entity is so brazenly, so smugly getting away with bullshitting this away into a cloud of confusion, as they release their metaphorical squid ink just like they did with the stupid babies story, but the propaganda and the media narrative that they are creating isn't what matters. It cannot address the fundamental contradictions ripping the country, the region, and the world apart any more than masterfully-applied makeup can fix a stab wound. It can merely obfuscate.

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Sources on the fighting in Palestine against Israel. In general, CW for footage of battles, explosions, dead people, and so on:

UNRWA daily-ish reports on Israel's destruction and siege of Gaza and the West Bank.

Various sources that are covering the Ukraine conflict are also covering the one in Palestine, like Rybar.

The Country of the Week is still Palestine! Feel free to chime in with books, essays, longform articles, even stories and anecdotes or rants.

Here is the map of the Ukraine conflict, courtesy of Wikipedia.

The weekly update isn't coming because I'm sick and too focussed on the collapse of the Zionist entity.

Resources For Understanding The War

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.

Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.

Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.

Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.

On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Telegram Channels

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

Pro-Russian

https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR's former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR's forces. Russian language.

https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.

https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.

https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.

https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.

https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.

https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.

https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.

https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.

https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine

Almost every Western media outlet.

https://discord.gg/projectowl ~ Pro-Ukrainian OSINT Discord.

https://t.me/ice_inii ~ Alleged Ukrainian account with a rather cynical take on the entire thing.

Wolf Bitzer just asked his guest about the "suffering of the Palestinian people". The guy's first name is Mohammad. I was surprised. Could this actually be a good segment?

Nope. It turned out the guy is an advisor to the IDF who lives in Tel Aviv and he went directly into "Hamas uses Palestinians as human shields..."

Ninja edit: He's said said the phrase "human shields" at least three times now.

archive.today • 92NY Pulls Event With Viet Thanh Nguyen Over Criticism of Israel - The New York Times

92NY, one of New York City’s premier cultural venues, decided on Friday to abruptly pull an event that evening featuring the Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Viet Thanh Nguyen after he signed an open letter critical of Israel, drawing criticism that the organization was stifling dissenting voices.

[...]

At the relocated event, Nguyen described the Y’s decision, which he said he was informed of around 2 p.m. that afternoon, as a “cancellation.” [...] No explanation had been given, he said. But he said he assumed it was a response to the fact that he was among the more than 750 writers and artists who signed an open letter published in The London Review of Books on Wednesday that was highly critical of Israel.

Comments are off - the cowards.

so what do you guys think of mutually assured destruction? with how escalating things are i'm getting more and more convinced the US is just going to go for it against a nuclear power, but what if that doesn't mean an immediate ICBM exchange? what if everyone figures if nobody uses it first nobody will, and we actually just have WW3 (extra farce edition). and then at the end of that some bloodthirsty sore loser does the ICBMs, because of course they will

@SeventyTwoTrillion@hexbear.net can we add a section to the sticky that includes the UN RWA reports? It might be easier for people to find them and they're a pretty excellent resource of on the ground information that people can use even with liberals. Since they're releasing these daily right now due to how bad things are it's an easy thing to update.

Current Israeli line (taken from /r/worldnews) on the hospital is the bomb was a jihadi rocket misfire, but it also didn't destroy the hospital and kill 500+ people. Instead it just landed in a parking lot and blew up a bunch of cars.

A letter sent on Tuesday to the US Treasury Department and the White House from 105 lawmakers, led by Senators Elizabeth Warren, Roger Marshall and Representative Sean Casten, expressed "grave concern" that Hamas and an affiliated group called Palestinian Islamic Jihad were using digital assets to fund their operations and evade US sanctions.

"Congress and this administration must take strong action to thoroughly address crypto illicit finance risks before it can be used to finance another tragedy," the letter says.

The Biden administration issued sanctions on Wednesday, which were aimed at disrupting Hamas' funding, singling out what it says is "a secret Hamas investment portfolio," a financial facilitator tied to Iran and a Gaza-based cryptocurrency exchange.

"We will continue to take all steps necessary to deny Hamas terrorists the ability to raise and use funds to carry out atrocities and terrorise the people of Israel," says Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen in a statement.

US Vetoes United Nations Security Council Resolution on Gaza

"Once again, the UNSC failed to fulfill its responsibility," Erdogan said, adding that mainstream media "whitewashes" human carnage with biased and hypocritical publications.

On Wednesday, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) held a vote for a Brazilian-drafted resolution that calls for humanitarian pauses in Gaza at the UN headquarters in New York.

The Brazilian-drafted resolution won the support of 12 of the 15 members of the Security Council. The United States, which has veto power, was the only council member that voted against it. Britain and Russia abstained.

Before voting on the Brazilian draft, the UNSC voted separately on two amendments to the Brazilian draft submitted by Russia. Wednesday's failure by the Security Council was the second in a row to adopt a resolution on Gaza.

On Monday, the UNSC failed to adopt a Russian-drafted resolution that would have called for a humanitarian cease-fire. The draft resolution failed to win enough votes in favor for adoption.

The Russian amendments - on a call for an end to indiscriminate attacks on civilians and a call for a durable humanitarian cease-fire, instead of humanitarian pauses contained in the Brazilian text - were unable to pass as there was not enough support by UNSC members. The U.S. was the only council member that voted against the Russian amendments.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan blamed the United Nations, Western countries, and the media for the Gazan crisis, which "risks spreading to our entire region."

He mentioned that efforts to resolve the problems have been hampered by measures such as the United States sending an aircraft carrier to the region, cutting off humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people, and collective punishment of the people of Gaza.

"The UNSC, increasingly ineffective, once again failed to fulfill its responsibility. Western countries, so passionate about human rights and freedoms, only added fuel to the fire," denounced Erdogan, who highlighted that mainstream media "whitewashes human carnage with biased and hypocritical publications.

https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/least-500-victims-israeli-air-strike-hospital-gaza-health-ministry-2023-10-17/

Israeli Military spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari told reporters rockets fired by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad militant group passed by the hospital at the time of the strike, which he said hit the facility's parking lot... He said the [IDF] military did have an Israeli air force operation in the area around the time of the hospital blast, "but it was with a different kind of ammunition that does not ... fit the footage that we have (of) the hospital."

From Al Jazeera's timeline of the hospital bombing narrative shifts.

The Israeli army also released a video showing spokesperson Daniel Hagari translating a recording of a conversation between purported Hamas officials, where they appear to talk about the misfired rocket that had caused the hospital blast.

To some, it seemed too neat. As one journalist later asked Hagari: “I’d like you to address the question of credibility, because … the [Israeli army] has a less than perfect track record with the issue of credibility”.

In his response, Hagari admitted that the military had lied before, but that now was different.

. . .

Shortly after the blast, Netanyahu deleted a message from his X feed that repeated a line from his address on October 16 to the Knesset. It said: “This is a struggle between the children of light and the children of darkness, between humanity and the law of the jungle”. The message appeared to echo the tone used earlier by Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant, who had described Palestinians as “beastly people”.
