I've always wanted to ask someone in the military if it would make a difference to them if the person shooting at them thought it was morally good to do so or if the person was being paid to do it. "Sorry, I didn't want to deal with LinkedIn, and my government has allowed the economic conditions that made military service seem like my only option to not starve to death in a gutter because it funnels people into the military" doesn't seem as if it would fly if another country used it as a rationale to perpetuate imperialism.
