If the democrats can't give us policies to latch onto, they need to give us hope from voices we trust. Either Harry Potter does this or we're fucked.

"I EXPECT-O you to be a PATRON-UM at the polls!" not-hillary

They defeat the new villain, High Lord Rumpt by electing a plurality of good wizards to the Wizard High Council and now he has to compromise on his "Kill everyone who isn't a wizard" policy

Oddly enough, the good wizards are willing to throw the shapeshifters under the bus for this

I would love to see more bipartisan compromise between the heroes and villains of the show. Maybe they could all come together at the end and say "Despite our differences, we believe in democracy."

[-] Oskolki@hexbear.net 11 points 1 week ago

They should set aside their differences and fight the true villain. J.K Rowler in her castle of mold

What, attack the status quo? What kind of evil is this?! porky-scared

My gf was watching season 4 of the boys, and despite my thoughts already being "wow this is edgy slop, with an obsession with cruel depictions of gore", what really shocked me was that its political message was just MAGA bad. Shallow obvious shit.

I see Steven Colbert is writing a new LOTR movie and I suspect the politics in there, if any, will be about the same. Liberal media is so asinine.

[-] Carl@hexbear.net 10 points 1 week ago

At least Colbert is a Tolkienhead, but damn do I feel less than zero interest in watching any post-Return of the King LOTR films or television shows.

[-] Tabitha@hexbear.net 2 points 1 week ago

LotR but all the Uruk Hai are trying to become PalinTok influencers.

A boy wizard with a pure soul wouldn't lie to us. People might not trust Gavin Newsome because he does things like tweet photo comparisons of himself with Patrick Bateman. They WOULD trust Harry Potter saying that only Gavin has the magic to defeat Lord Volde(trump)mort, especially if it was part of a short monologue during every episode to support democrats like Jimmy Kimmel.

blob-stop You've tapped right into the source man I'm worried what'll happen if you keep inhaling the vapors.

If anything, while Ron is talking about some nonsense, Harry will get indignant and say Israel has a right to defend itself

It is British after all, and the more important point will be to publicly support Kid Starver

[-] happybadger@hexbear.net 9 points 1 week ago

We need to get him to say "vote blue no matter who" before AIPAC gets him to say "Israel has a right to defend itself." This is THE WAR of 2026.

it is their best hope because this is something that the DNC could actually do because

a) It will not make anyone's life even a little bit better

b) It can be accomplished purely by giving a lot of money to people they want to curry favor with, no one actually has to do anything or even publicly acknowledge responsibility

[-] happybadger@hexbear.net 9 points 1 week ago

It's their best hope because if it works it could change things. Imagine Harry Potter staring silently at you- you the viewer- for 30 seconds before he says "Next No Kings Protest: 28 March". It would be like Hungry Games.

[-] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 9 points 1 week ago

before he says "Next No Kings Protest: 28 March". It would be like Hungry Games.

I don't know, that sounds too close to a "call to action" and could poll badly with some of our donors or be seen as 34% threatening by some constituents. Better to leave that part out I think.

[-] happybadger@hexbear.net 5 points 1 week ago

If Gramsci was correct and we now live in the time of monsters, who defeats monsters? Pure-hearted boy wizards. This is the moment where we need radical calls to action and those start and end with Harry Potter saying "No Kings Protest Bring A Sign I'll Be There Dudes".

[-] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 4 points 1 week ago

Oh I like that. It is 23% more casual and we could play it off as an ironic joke if it polls badly.

[-] LeeeroooyJeeenkiiins@hexbear.net 13 points 1 week ago

and of course neoliberals would make harry potter say it instead of giving HEDWIG A SINGLE LINE OF DIALOGUE

[-] CthulhusIntern@hexbear.net 7 points 1 week ago

Hedwig should be a funny animal sidekick.

Voiced by H Jon Benjamin who's being aggressively told to do his best Gilbert Gottfried impression even though that's like the polar opposite of the one voice he does.
