Wonder what Denuvo is going to do about this

Fitgirl's statement:

Yes, I know PRAGMATA release files have been leaked. Yes, I know that PRAGMATA was Hypervisor-bypassed. No, I won’t put my repack before an official release date and time. I don’t support leaks and I don’t like when people do something for hype only. Legit users, who paid for their game deserve to play it first. Not the pirates. It doesn’t matter how much you hate Denuvo or Capcom, those games are there because people buy something from developers and publishers. And when those who don’t pay get an Advanced Access while legit customers suck their fingers is just plain wrong.

Of course, not every releaser share my principles and you’ll see releases popping here and there, but I’ll keep my stance. Leaks are bad. Don’t do leaks. Don’t use leaks. You’ve waited for years, you can wait a few hours more.

Hey comrades, just here to say, please be careful with any and all hypervisor cracks of games!

[-] Packet@hexbear.net 4 points 4 hours ago

YAYYYYYYYY!!!!! I LOVE MY DENUVO CRACKS!!!!!

[-] makotech222@hexbear.net 54 points 15 hours ago

people need to realize the devs have already been paid; its called a salary. No matter how much you buy, none of the money will go to them lol its just to the owners.

And? I only care about shareholders

[-] graynk@discuss.tchncs.de -2 points 10 hours ago

yeah, they have been paid and I'm assuming they also want to keep getting paid instead of getting laid off, possibly even make another game! a wild concept, I know

[-] ZeroHora@lemmy.ml 4 points 3 hours ago

I'm pretty sure that the CEO salary alone can cover any money loss that a leak like this can cause... Laying off devs because of something like this is unjustified.

[-] graynk@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

Never said that wasn't the case. And as I mentioned in another comment - I don't think there's much damage from leaks like this, because you have to REALLY want to play it if you're willing to go through with the hypervisor bypass. I was arguing against a general statement of "who cares, they've already been paid, just pirate it". The leaks themselves are just kinda bad taste tbh?

[-] Demifriend@hexbear.net 37 points 10 hours ago

hilarious thing to post after the last few years of watching companies release extremely successful games and then fire everyone anyways

[-] AF_R@hexbear.net 11 points 6 hours ago

The liberal mind is truly an enigma

[-] BelieveRevolt@hexbear.net 11 points 8 hours ago

Hey, that's because the layoffs created more value for shareholders! Of course, the company could just decide the last one wasn't successful enough, like Capcom and Square Enix did after Resident Evil 6 and the new Tomb Raider sold millions of copies.

[-] graynk@discuss.tchncs.de 0 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

did capcom do layoffs? no? what's that, did they actually give people a raise? https://www.pcgamer.com/gaming-industry/while-other-gaming-companies-talk-layoffs-capcom-is-raising-salaries/

oh, it's almost like generalizing everything with sweeping statements is not useful and doesn't override the reality where things cost money regardless of shitty execs making shitty decisions. in a world filled with remakes, remasters and sequels I think we should try a bit more to reward new IPs with new ideas coming out, that's all.

meh, this entire argument hinges on piracy hurting sales when that's not the case at all

[-] save_vs_death@hexbear.net 25 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago)

you don't pirate the game because you care for the devs, i don't pirate the game because it looks bad, we are not the same

also imagine installing what is essentially an unremovable rootkit on your computer to play death stranding if it was bad

[-] tacosanonymous@mander.xyz 12 points 15 hours ago

Even if it was a good looking game, fuck hypervisor.

[-] take_five_moments@hexbear.net 12 points 15 hours ago

ya i def want to potentially fuck my computer up to play Crimson Desert l m a o

[-] KoboldKomrade@hexbear.net 11 points 15 hours ago

Already feels like I'm poking the jenga tower with (1.) fitgirl repacks constantly try to play their music, "redirect websites", and open their site (all minor but, cmon, can you please...) and (2.) another repacker had "FREE SOFTWARE CLICK HERE.URL" in the files and constantly has the game in "game" and not in a folder named after the game.

Like there are SO many games I want to play. I can hold off on Anno: This Time Its a Bit Better for a few months/years. Especially if it means I don't brick a gpu or get epically pwned for dogecoin.

[-] Sam@hexbear.net 9 points 9 hours ago

The installer comes with a mute button and the website stuff is completely optional through check boxes. Compared to hypervisor that's like someone saying "I'm afraid to nuclear war" and you replying "Yeah, and my neighbour keeps saying hello to me so I stopped leaving the house"

[-] take_five_moments@hexbear.net 27 points 18 hours ago* (last edited 18 hours ago)

lol idk why fitgirl acting so scary she's supposedly russian and they don't give a fuck about piracy

idc about the game really, looks kinda shit, but hey get fucked denuvo!

edit: some of the comments on fitgirl's post are amazing

edit2: very weird moralizing from people; people saying that early releases hurt dev studios (dog who gives a fuck lmao), saying that denuvo 2.0 will come faster if we get more leaks, people saying piracy is immoral anyway so we should do less bad in general even if we're doing bad? and finally one guy who is like HAVE YOU NO HEART?? TEH GAME THESE PEOPLE WORKED ON FOR YEARS GOT LEAKED 2 DAYS EARLY HAVE YOU NO SHAME IT WILL RUIN MARKETING AND SPOIL THE STORY AND COMPLETELY BANKRUPT THEM AND THE PUBLISHERS WILL KILL THEIR FAMILY idk man people have dogshit for brains for sure.

but every single person telling fitgirl she's being a hypocrite is great, too bad seeing her sycophants dogpile on them 'IF U DON' LIKE IT MAKE UR OWN PIRACY SITE WITH BLACKJACK AND HOOKERS" maybe i'll start following dodi's repacks or something esp if they don't have as rabid of a fanbase

[-] CupcakeOfSpice@hexbear.net 14 points 16 hours ago

Fitgirl's repacks don't work on Linux, so that's why I don't use her. I appreciate her piracy, it's just that, even through WINE, I pretty consistently can't get her files to decompress.

[-] Liketearsinrain@lemmy.ml 8 points 9 hours ago

Set windows version to Windows XP via winecfg, install, set back to 10.

[-] ZeroHora@lemmy.ml 4 points 4 hours ago

That's a really fucking good tip, can I marry you?

[-] buckykat@hexbear.net 21 points 15 hours ago

I regularly use fitgirl's regular repacks on linux through lutris

[-] absurdity_of_it_all@lemmy.ml 7 points 11 hours ago

Sometimes it doesn't work on lutris and heroic has my back those times

[-] CupcakeOfSpice@hexbear.net 7 points 15 hours ago

Huh. Maybe I should try that. I feel like I remember trying that with Disco Elysium, but I just kept getting errors. Maybe it's just a DE thing.

[-] mouseirl@lemmy.ml 28 points 19 hours ago

wow, had no idea fitgirl had such a lib stance.

[-] doublepepperoni@hexbear.net 37 points 19 hours ago* (last edited 19 hours ago)

I assume it's some kind of attempt to avoid potential incoming heat. What made Nintendo go thermonuclear against Switch emulation was when the Zelda game got leaked and emulated

[-] Alisu@hexbear.net 10 points 16 hours ago

And it still didn't work. Switch emulation is just as easy as it ever was, maybe even better.

[-] doublepepperoni@hexbear.net 18 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago)

Sure, you can still pirate and emulate Switch 1 games but Nintendo definitely did kill the momentum of Switch emulator development. The Ryujinx team was working on some really cool new features and updates they never got to ship as the project got shitcanned due to Nintendo sending their goons to the Brazilian lead devs actual fucking house

[-] PorkrollPosadist@hexbear.net 20 points 19 hours ago
[-] BountifulEggnog@hexbear.net 18 points 19 hours ago

Switch 1 games getting constantly leaked early and even playable on emulator early was so peak

[-] laziestflagellant@hexbear.net 7 points 16 hours ago

It's still happening lol emulator enjoyers are playing Tomodachi Life early right now

[-] BountifulEggnog@hexbear.net 6 points 16 hours ago

Oh nice lol, I haven't been keeping up with that scene.

[-] Czechmate132@lemmy.zip 10 points 18 hours ago

I had the best time playing tears of Kingdom on pc didnt force the nerf patchs to shit stopping me from dupping speed up cut scenes and other quality of life

[-] graynk@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 10 hours ago

She aint wrong about leaks, but not sure how many people actually jump through the hoops to selfown themselves with the hypervisor bypass
