Creative Commons licensing your awful comments is a degree of dorkiness that I could not have imagined in my most feverish dreams.
getting dismissed as a troll by someone with a creative commons license in their post signature
Why the hell do they have a Creative Commons code in their comment?
So that we can use their comment as a site tagline without legal issue
uh, i don't know tbh
Even if you can't spend the time to check, what is so hard about just correcting yourself when someone asks you to use their preferred pronouns? It's just such a non issue.
And fucking no "they/them" isn't an easy way out post-correcton. Regardless of it being a safe usage before you are corrected.

Pure stubborn pigheadedness. Easier to put your back up and complain about other people than to admit you made a mistake.
And fucking no "they/them" isn't an easy way out post-correcton.
I mean, it would legitimately be nice to use a set of gender neutral pronouns when you're in a big online space where the individuals you're talking to are virtually strangers. I thought that was kinda where the whole Xe/Xer was going, but people got nasty and vulgar with that as well. So it seems like we're strictly adhering to Rule 30 and assuming everyone is a dude unless tits are clearly on display.
Do you check every profile you respond to?
Oh wait, a hexbear user.
I wrote this.
The whole thread is a dumpster fire. They're calling us trolls because... we don't want people to be transphobic?
Having a different opinion than the consensus: trolling. Challanging me personally: trolling. Complaining about anything: trolling. Existing in a space I claim as my own: trolling.
Why are there so many trolls!?!
Oh wait, a hexbear user.
no attribution, no link to license
your move,
be gay, do crime
It's pretty rare for me to use someone's preferred third-party pronouns in a response to them anyway. And if I was feeling too lazy to check their profile for some reason (?) I'd just use they/them. What a strange objection.
[edit: also of course if someone corrected me after I'd apologize and fix it]
You forgot to include your CC license
Fuck, you're right

Even if you are too lazy to check, can’t they/them be used when in doubt and cause much less grief?
If I’m wrong here, I’m sorry. I don’t mean any offense, I just assume not gendering was a safe move when you are unsure.
The incident in question occurred when someone (a programming.dev admin, specifically), whose client hides the pronouns, used 'they' to refer to a user with she/her pronouns.
Aaaah okay, then my apologies for the ignorant take. Wasn’t aware of the full scope of the incident.
I run into the same thing because of the app I use to connect to Hexbear on mobile, but I would accept being corrected and move on using the preferred pronouns. It’s not that hard.
accept being corrected and move on using the preferred pronouns. It’s not that hard.
this is 100% fine and there'd be no hard feelings if that had happened, but instead the admin in question whipped out the ol' "getting offended is a bad look!!" card instead
(full disclosure, it was me, ~~dio~~)
Liberal "ally" when the trans person is left of them:
