How else do you get a dinner invite from Matt Gaetz?

So it's a yes then

[-] reversebananimals@lemmy.world 28 points 9 months ago
[-] BassTurd@lemmy.world 14 points 9 months ago

So he wants to rape HIS baby, not just any, unrelated baby.

[-] Kraven_the_Hunter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 15 points 9 months ago

"Republicans: saying the quiet part out loud since 2015."

[-] Chainweasel@lemmy.world 10 points 9 months ago

Obviously not, he could rape a baby under the abortion bill too.
He wants to rape a baby AND force it to carry a child to full term.

a bill that would grant an abortion exception for rape or incest

... 1 year olds kids.
Nevermind the fact that 1y.o. aren't fertile, normal people go their entire lives without ever thinking about impregnating 1 year olds.
And yea, if you somehow magically got a 1 y.o. pregnant, I sure as fuck hope they'd be able abort.

[-] frickineh@lemmy.world 55 points 9 months ago

I literally started screaming in my head (though, to be fair, most of my internal dialogue is just screams these days) , "WELL IF SOMEONE SOMEHOW GETS A ONE YEAR OLD PREGNANT, OBVIOUSLY THEY SHOULD HAVE AN ABORTION!" And then this guy's mom should have a really, really late post-term abortion. What the fuck is wrong with with conservatives?

[-] kescusay@lemmy.world 44 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

What the fuck is wrong with conservatives?

We have large swaths of the American electorate who are just plain broken people. They've spent their entire lives being unjustifiably afraid of everything, from jack-booted liberal thugs busting down their doors to steal their bibles, to gay marriage somehow interfering with straight marriage.

Seriously, look at any list of political issues someone can believe something about, on any topic, and you can determine the modern Republican position on any of them by asking yourself two questions:

  • Is there a position on this issue that's driven by stupid, irrational fear?
  • Would incredibly basic, rudimentary education clear that fear away?

If the answer is "yes" to both, then chances are, you've identified the Republican position on that issue.

[-] paysrenttobirds@sh.itjust.works 27 points 9 months ago

I'll never understand why they are more opposed to abortions for minors, who definitely didn't consent to sex and are more likely to be harmed by the pregnancy in so many ways.

[-] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 14 points 9 months ago
[-] paysrenttobirds@sh.itjust.works 6 points 9 months ago

So I do believe there is a significant and even growing misogynist/ child-bride/patriarchal-women-as-breeders-every-man-deserves-at-least-one element among Republican policy makers. But, I think the majority of Republican voters aren't looking at the specific intent of these bills and simply think it will never happen to their daughter because fill in the blank superiority complex, and that's what really pisses me off. Evidence of a well-fortified barrier to empathy.

They don't believe there is such a thing as not consenting to sex if you're female.

[-] Semi-Hemi-Demigod@kbin.social 13 points 9 months ago

Don't conservatives always complain about how liberals don't understand guns and therefore shouldn't regulate them?

If a 1 year old got pregnant, I think you should be more concerned about arresting whoever TF impregnated a 1 year old, rather than whether it's a crime for the 1 year old to have an abortion.

Do these people even remotely understand that the younger a pregnant person is, actually makes an abortion more necessary? Beyond the health demands of pregnancy and childbirth on a young person, do they really want 10 and 12 year olds, or even younger, being mothers? (Don't bother answering; I can guess.)

[-] Nightwingdragon@lemmy.world 16 points 9 months ago

do they really want 10 and 12 year olds, or even younger, being mothers?

Yes. Don't forget we have had congressmen say that a 10 year old rape victim not only should have been forced to give birth, but to raise the rapist's child too so she can understand the "blessing" she received. I believe it was a West Virginia congressman that classified 12 year olds being married as "just a way of life", while another said something along the lines of "i know people who got married at 12. They're still married."

So yes, they have gone on record saying exactly that.

Lot of child marriage in the States, I'm not surprised.

[-] Adalast@lemmy.world 57 points 9 months ago

Hmmm... Show me a pregnant 1 year old and I will show you a little girl in desperate need of an abortion and a new home with people who actually will love her as one should a 1 year old.

Seriously, how fucking stupid do you need to be to actually utter something like this. I don't care if it is supposed rhetorical hyperbole, it just oozes with /r/NotHowGirlsWork energy.

[-] osarusan@kbin.social 57 points 9 months ago

In other words, this asshat thinks that 1-year-olds should be forced to carry a pregnancy to term.

[-] sxan@midwest.social 19 points 9 months ago

Yeah, my phrasing was going to be a little different, but say the same thing: if a 1 year old needed an abortion, they absolutely should be able to get one.

[-] Sterile_Technique@lemmy.world 47 points 9 months ago

...dude's face looks like someone prompted an AI with "generate a mugshot of someone charged with fucking a 1-year-old".

[-] platypus_plumba@lemmy.world 14 points 9 months ago

They are so stupid, it hurts.

[-] reverendsteveii@lemm.ee 43 points 9 months ago

"The kid I raped could get an abortion under this!" he said with wildly misdirected outrage.

[-] OscarRobin@lemmy.world 42 points 9 months ago

If a 1yo was raped and somehow impregnated, they would literally and absolutely die if they did not receive an abortion. In absolutely no way does this disgusting moron make any sense.

[-] Technofrood@feddit.uk 33 points 9 months ago

How are these people able to function in society with literally zero brain matter?

[-] partial_accumen@lemmy.world 31 points 9 months ago

“1-year-old could get an abortion under this.”

"Odd take, but okay Senator, how old do you think a raped child or a child victim of incest should have to be before they are allowed to get an abortion? What age should a child victim have to look forward to, under your version of this legislation, that they know they could abort their rapists baby?"

[-] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 6 points 9 months ago

how old do you think a raped child or a child victim of incest should have to be before they are allowed to get an abortion?

just to add: these are the same thing. A minor whose the victim of incest was also raped.

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 31 points 9 months ago

Infant pregnancy is one of our country's greatest issues and this guy doesn't even want to do anything about it!

[-] Wilzax@lemmy.world 29 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

Abortion should be compulsory for anyone pregnant under 13. That's the age we set for protecting children from the dangers of social media, and pregnancy is a heck of a lot more dangerous than that

[-] Honytawk@lemmy.zip 28 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)
[-] gedaliyah@lemmy.world 27 points 9 months ago

Tell me you don't understand the basic anatomy and physiology you are regulating without telling me...

[-] Gork@lemm.ee 25 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

Sen. Beck replied, “I don’t know that a 1-year-old could get pregnant, senator.” He added, “You’re OK with forced birth of a child being raped, right?”

“I don’t support the institutions of rape or of incest. But your amendment doesn’t address those,” Eigel said.

Ah man he should have followed up and not allowed him to weasel his way out of it. Should have asked,

"It is a yes or no question, senator."

Put these fuckers on the spot for the record.

Dude, you wouldn't fucking believe it. I was at the clinic, killing my baby, and there was this fucking toddler doing the same thing. I mean, I'm a fucking grown man and I paid for my partner to scramble the brains of our unborn child, as is our right. But this little kid was there, doing the same thing. Couldn't have been more than 4yo.

STOP TINY CHILDREN FROM KILLING TINIER CHILDREN.

I mean, at some point, you just gotta have a limit.

From what I've gathered, he actually doesn't seem to, but stupid sure likes Trump, so he works with what he's got.

Oh my god... If you haven't watched the video at the bottom, you should. It is so much worse than just the little quote about 1 year olds. This man is either mentally ill or knowingly evil and I'm not sure which.

I wonder if this is part of their confusion campaign? We read it as a 1 year old could get a abortion but they will spin it as 1 year Old abortions and scream " how could you abort a 1 year old?"

[-] reagansrottencorpse@lemmy.world 11 points 9 months ago

They don't have to make sense, their only aim is the inflame their base of morons.

[-] youCanCallMeDragon@lemmy.world 10 points 9 months ago

The left has lost their minds! One year olds should carry their pregnancies to term, think about the children!!

[-] trackcharlie@lemmynsfw.com 10 points 9 months ago

This representative should've been aborted

[-] roguetrick@kbin.social 9 points 9 months ago

The crazy thing is there are very serious health risks for girls who underwent puberty early in carrying a fetus to term. I nominate implanting a
Zygote in this guy's brain, as that should have plenty of unused nutrients.

If somehow a one year old got pregnant I would totally expect her to be able to get an abortion. This just seems like common sense, no?
