Damn. Unironically, this is what zero theory can do to a mf'er. There's nuggets of truth sprinkled throughout this whole manifesto, but there's nothing but conspiracy-brained silly-string trying to tie them all together.

Poor guy.

That's a good take on it. A lot of awareness of the actual problems, no understanding of the systems that tie them together without the need for a conspiracy.

I don't think this is funny it looks like dude had a manic break

yeah, this whole thing is pretty sad. seems like someone with an obvious mental health crisis led them to connect a lot of dots in a very paranoid manner. this is distinctly different from Aaron Bushnell's protest. this guy today was definitely not of sound mind. this document is about NYU being a fascist ponzi scheme for fucks sake

[-] Pandantic@midwest.social 20 points 7 months ago

I didn’t mean to make light of his mental illness, should I take it down?

Just edit the title to be a little less flippant. It's important for people to read.

[-] Pandantic@midwest.social 12 points 7 months ago

Thanks, I did that.

[-] HumanBehaviorByBjork@hexbear.net 3 points 7 months ago

i mean it's a lesser ivy, why wouldn't it be a fascist ponzi scheme

[-] Llituro@hexbear.net 2 points 7 months ago

there's a difference between that being an accurate description of any financialized entity and thinking that it's a national conspiracy that's about to ruin the world. there's no conspiracy, just a lot of capitalism and individuals acting self-interestedly within the confines of a dictatorship of the bourgeoisie

ugh. this guy sent his stuff to one of my orgs last year. It's bunk. Essentially liberal, with some "parapolitics" (conspiracy theories) thrown in. I wish he had joined an org and pointed his energies in the right direction. His last insta posts he was clearly going through it.

Man, this is kinda heartbreaking to read. You seldom see someone with such a clear, sharp view of the world's problems, but who also just so happens to be looking in an entirely wrong direction.

He is clearly an intelligent person, smart enough to realize that something's not right with the world, and that VC funds are in on it. He realizes that the political class does not give a shit, is complicit and also in fact benefits from all this wrongdoing, so we all live in a worldwide series of kleptocracies. He can also see that liberal cultural institutions such as Harvard and Hollywood serve the purpose of producing the next batch of white collar criminals, and making the public numb and complacent to these global crimes, respectively.

Every single one of these things is entirely correct, but he somehow sees The Simpsons as a connection between all of these things. He also claims that Covid was unleashed in order to create a justification for the financial slump at the end of this worldwide Ponzi scheme, and he manages to tie all this to Rob fucking Lowe. Then he writes several paragraphs about The Simpsons.

In fact, his thing with The Simpsons and Rob Lowe is what really illustrates to me how unwell this guy is. If you pay attention, you can see how his train of thought derails as soon as he mentions Lowe or Simpsons, and what would have been an aside becomes the main topic: Rob Lowe - sex blackmail - Jeffrey Epstein - Bill Clinton - Kitty Dukakis - crack, all followed by "what does this tell us?"

The answer should be barely anything at all, but he instead uses that as an example of how the government is conning US citizens. Once again, yes, the US government is conning citizens, but how can you make that connection following this train of thought? It's all bricks, no mortar.

It's frustrating to read, because it gives us a glimpse into the mind of a person whose thoughts have long since stopped being coherent. It's like looking at the furniture of a house that's been cracked in half by an earthquake. All the right pieces are still there, but they no longer cohere with one another. This is indeed, as @Thordros@hexbear.net has said, what zero theory does to a clearly smart mfer and it's very very sad.

I feel like this a lot of the time. People this fuckin close to realizing why the system is broken and then they fetishize it into literal fucking magic, "human nature", or some ridiculous cabal/illuminati type mysticism.

Shameless plug, I wrote about where I believe we are not reaching people here. I really hope our movement can get more effective messaging to reach people like this before they snap. Maybe we could have gotten him into am org and some poli Ed in a different timeline...

[-] Elon_Musk@hexbear.net 10 points 7 months ago

Hope he pulls through. I enjoyed his postings.

I gotta start reading usernames before the comments.

[-] Pandantic@midwest.social 1 points 7 months ago

His insta is getting a lot of views and comments, mostly positive. I wouldn’t go back in the timeline though, just look at his recent stuff to avoid being sad about the situation. Apparently he preceded this incident with a protest at NYU where he handed out pamphlets.
