It's a good game. I liked the switch remake too
I have the PSP version and Reborn downloaded as well, I'm curious to see how the mechanics are in the new versions.
Reborn definitely has some good qol improvements. Archers got a big nerf though
They kinda need it =) I heard gryphons and shit got nerfed tho which sucks.
Gryphons are still quite good, just not as
=) Gryphons suck...
Nah, they can fly and tank. Flying is so good
"Tank" but they get rekt by knights and their melee sucks. Windshot is cool but since it has recoil, how are they not just worse Eaglemen?
If they could tank like knights, there would be no point to knights.
My gryphon kept getting owned by everybody though :/ zero defensive capability :/
It's been a while since I played. I feel like beast master was helpful and that the stun was useful, but I can't quite remember
Yeah, I just wish it was a little less. Unless you really try by stacking buffs and debuffs, archers are meh. Now its all about the shamans. They rain hellfire.
I don't really remember how strong gryphons were before, but they are okay in reborn. Dragons are strong and have some good utility. I didn't really use many beasts, as I liked the unique characters too much to swap them out. Wish there were more named beasts.
This is making me want to play again. I didn't finish the epilogues yet because I still need to world back and get on the correct timeline.
My only true regret in life is not being able to finish Ogre Battle 64 because someone rented the only copy at my local Blockbuster Video and never returned it
Now it's expensive as hell and I think it's still one of the games that doesn't work good on emulator
Really? It got a Wii VC release in 2010, and a Wii U one in 2012, should work fine under Mupen. Wife played some in Simple64 recently.
I have plans to try March of the Black Queen and maybe 64 as well, because Ogre. This series has such good subtitles...
I gotta look back into this
back in the day the battle backgrounds wouldn't render correctly on emulators but the last few times I've played it they have
I still have to play the ogre series. Funny Final Fantasy Tactics is my favorite FF game and yet I've never touched Ogre Battle or Tactics Ogre.
SIR, THOU MUST
I have FF Tactics queued up to play after this. Matsuno is such a humourous individual.
I keep wanting to revisit Ogre Battle 64 before I eventually pick up Unicorn Overlord, but I also have the Tactics Ogre Remaster sitting around unfinished. Too many games!
o shit they made another ogre battle style game!?
I gotta pick this up
It's made by Vanillaware, too!
teenage me is dying rn
Still one of the giants of the genre. The size of the battlefield, variation in battle designs, and the sizes of the teams really make for a good crunchy tactical feel.
Plus the degree to which terrain and especially elevation/gravity affect combat... fucks........
Having to plot around terrain is half the fun of a game like this! Games like Fire Emblem seem to miss this point
Fr fr, nothing feels as goood as landing a crossbow shot for 80 damage from five tiles out of range from a rooftop
Something incredibly satisfying about shooting beyond range. It's even satisfying taking a shot you think will hit but gets blocked by terrain
Less satisfying when it hits an ally though guess how I found out Windshot can friendly fire...
And the AI will never let you live that down
May I also recommend Triangle Strategy? Seriously the best new TRPG in a very long time
Yes! I have TRPG brainworms so it is on the list too.
