Looks like Operation Gladio C is moving ahead at a respectable pace.

Apparently it's not a human rights issue to engage in political repression by target an ethnically russian population of civilians with indiscriminate violence.

From my brief skim of an article about this, it seems like the ‘human rights violations’ part has a statute of limitations. Reading between the lines, it’s like they absolved anything that has happened since RF’s SMO started. Anything related to Donbas or the coup period is no longer relevant to this determination for the US.

Basically they are claiming they have kept ‘clean’ for like 2 years (extremely dubious claim - but easy to dismiss any reports as Russian disinformation operations). Liberals are like Charlie Brown and fascists are Lucy holding the football.

2 year SOL on war crimes is a hell of an ideological stance

It's the amount of time it takes to memory hole atrocities for the average lib

seems like a good time to share this again

Can't commit "human rights violations" when your defining characteristic is your belief that your enemy's blood and ancestry makes them subhumans that require extermination.

Can't recognize "human rights violations" when you exclusively define them as violations of the right to buy and sell humans.

they're just dunking on us, there's no great utility to arming ~2,000 max guys in a war this big, and they could've laundered it to them with minimal trouble unofficially. they're a criminal gang for fucks sake.

[-] combat_brandonism@hexbear.net 24 points 2 years ago

they could've laundered it to them with minimal trouble unofficially

implying they weren't already doing that lol

[-] absolutefuckinidiot@lemmygrad.ml 12 points 2 years ago

When you put it that way I’m extra pissed off

[-] PolandIsAStateOfMind@lemmygrad.ml 11 points 2 years ago

It's meaningless in practice, Azov is for a long time part of regular army and US was arming those and thus also Azov (as "elite" brigade they even most likely got a priority for equipment). The only point of this announcement is doubling down on whitewashing nazis.

"I'm voting for Biden because unlike Trump, he doesn't support neo-Naz- oh... uh... You sure? Ok... Like I was saying I'm supporting Biden because he likes ice cream just like me."

[-] RyanGosling@hexbear.net 26 points 2 years ago

Will zionists complain about Biden supporting antisemitism? Hmm

[-] AntiOutsideAktion@hexbear.net 25 points 2 years ago

They're really pulling out all the stops now that it's basically over. Might as well squander any moral high ground you can claim after the fact.

[-] zed_proclaimer@hexbear.net 22 points 2 years ago

The battalion, whose neo-Nazi origins have long been the subject of Kremlin propaganda, is one of Kyiv’s most battle-hardened and popular units.

All mainstream press articles also use generic photos of Ukrainian soldiers or careful angles and images that don’t have any Nazi or Azov imagery

Newcomm and Newsmega Rules:

The Hexbear Code of Conduct and Terms of Service apply here.

  1. Link titles: Please use informative link titles. Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.

  2. Content warnings: Posts on the newscomm and top-level replies on the newsmega should use content warnings appropriately. Please be thoughtful about wording and triggers when describing awful things in post titles.

  3. Fake news: No fake news posts ever, including April 1st. Deliberate fake news posting is a bannable offense. If you mistakenly post fake news the mod team may ask you to delete/modify the post or we may delete it ourselves.

  4. Link sources: All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include the Xcancel.com (or another Nitter instance) or at least strip out identifier information from the twitter link. There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance, such as Libredirect or archive them as you would any other reactionary source.

  5. Archive sites: We highly encourage use of non-paywalled archive sites (i.e. archive.is, web.archive.org, ghostarchive.org) so that links are widely accessible to the community and so that reactionary sources don’t derive data/ad revenue from Hexbear users. If you see a link without an archive link, please archive it yourself and add it to the thread, ask the OP to fix it, or report to mods. Including text of articles in threads is welcome.

  6. Low effort material: Avoid memes/jokes/shitposts in newscomm posts and top-level replies to the newsmega. This kind of content is OK in post replies and in newsmega sub-threads. We encourage the community to balance their contribution of low effort material with effort posts, links to real news/analysis, and meaningful engagement with material posted in the community.

  7. American politics: Discussion and effort posts on the (potential) material impacts of American electoral politics is welcome, but the never-ending circus of American Politics© Brought to You by Mountain Dew™ is not welcome. This refers to polling, pundit reactions, electoral horse races, rumors of who might run, etc.

  8. Electoralism: Please try to avoid struggle sessions about the value of voting/taking part in the electoral system in the West. c/electoralism is right over there.

  9. AI Slop: Don't post AI generated content. Posts about AI race/chip wars/data centers are fine.
