Nothing will happen here, obviously.

When we point it out as it is happening, these left-adjacent liberals wring their hands helplessly. Then, months later, they act horrified when this shit gets leaked and pretend they didn't know. I'm mad but I'm tired.

They'll do the same for Lebanon and who knows what else.

I don't know, I think right now I'm understanding the scale of evil that exists and how powerless we are.

I wish we lived in a world where these people could face consequences

[-] Adkml@hexbear.net 53 points 2 years ago

So far I've just been operating under the assumption if anybody in the state department, isreal, or r/worldnews say something it's conplete horseshit and the exact opposite is true.

Somehow nat sec people are doing a worse job of vetting information than I am.

I'm sure it's a coincidence.

Kissinger was a devil

Musk is fucking infuriating

blinken.... lied???? oh no capitaldcolon

[-] RION@hexbear.net 46 points 2 years ago

Idk why this hits me as hard as it does. Like obviously they were never going to let anything threaten their pet campaign of ethnic cleansing.

I think it's the little shard of 2019 Bernie bro lodged in my worldview that if all the stars aligned just, just perfectly then the US would have no choice but to back down and do the right thing, or at the very least the less wrong thing.

I think that part of me is dying, though. This is a deeply diseased country. There is no hope for it to get better. Reading things like this and then going on to live my life in this place is probably my greatest shame.

[-] Evilphd666@hexbear.net 16 points 2 years ago

Lying to us is one thing, but gaslighting and lying to congress is a whole 'nother ball game. How congress then goes on denying their eyes, ears, and constiutuents criminalizing anyone who is loud about congress not listening.

(This also sets Blinken up to be the fall boi for hand washing and "accountability") but still LOCK HIM UP anyways.

There are no depths of depravity that this hell country won't descend to in the name of securing business interests. It's a truly demonic place.

Like half the site I'm listening to blowback 5 rn and the parallels between Israel and Cambodia are myriad. I'm sure it's just a matter of time before the world discovers israeli killing fields.

[-] miz@hexbear.net 11 points 2 years ago

if I didn't have to care for my parents I would already be gone

[-] Parzivus@hexbear.net 44 points 2 years ago

Would Trump even be worse for Gaza at this point? Like the Republicans are way worse domestically but the Democrats might actually be worse for foreign policy

[-] JayTreeman@hexbear.net 41 points 2 years ago

I've been trying to tell people this for a while. Trump's incompetence makes better foreign policy results. He wasn't even able to start a war. When was the last president that didn't start a war?

[-] SevenSkalls@hexbear.net 22 points 2 years ago

Certainly seems like he tried when he killed Soleimani. I thought for sure we were getting in a war then.

[-] JayTreeman@hexbear.net 6 points 2 years ago

Also Venezuela coup attempt. He sucks at the job AND tries to make friends with traditional enemies like North Korea and Russia. Less enemies is a good thing.... He's like the coworker that keeps getting promoted despite being horrible at his jobs.

[-] SevenSkalls@hexbear.net 4 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Ya it's weird because he seemed to have a hard-on for Russia, switch between being friendly with North Korea and threatening them with "fire and fury", and being a complete hawk against China and Iran. That's what happens when you have greed and racism instead of a coherent ideology though I suppose.

Yet he got promoted to the ultimate job. At least it defeats the idea that America is a meritocracy lol.

[-] Moonworm@hexbear.net 24 points 2 years ago

Trump legitimized the occupation of the Golan Heights, moved our embassy to Jerusalem, and assassinated Suleimani. I don't think he'd be doing anything appreciably different right now.

[-] Parzivus@hexbear.net 18 points 2 years ago

Biden is lying to Congress so that he can keep sending weapons to Israel, which will almost certainly be used to kill civilians. Materially, there's little difference.
For the record, I don't support Trump at all. It's just a little stunning to see how far right the Democrats have gone in the last 20 years or so.

[-] SacredExcrement@hexbear.net 9 points 2 years ago

Hell, the last 7 or so

Many of the anti wall people are now aggressively for it, they defend literal genocide because 'conservatives would be worse', their candidate has come out as very pro gun...

It would be more funny if it wasn't so pathetic.

[-] AmericaDelendaEst@hexbear.net 13 points 2 years ago

appreciably different

It's an appreciable difference for the liberals to be against it instead of for it

[-] tactical_trans_karen@hexbear.net 7 points 2 years ago

He's specifically promised Sheldon Adelson's widow that he'll help Israel annex the West Bank so...

[-] Assian_Candor@hexbear.net 42 points 2 years ago

And liberals want me to go out and vote for these worms

[-] stink@lemmygrad.ml 10 points 2 years ago

Nothing will change either way, why not make libshits seethe with their own smugness

[-] BoxedFenders@hexbear.net 41 points 2 years ago

Behind that pinkwashed charm offensive with a WOC girlboss at the forefront, this administration is as evil as any that came before it. Cast my mail-in ballot for De la Cruz this morning and will probably never vote Dem again in my lifetime. Just filled with utter disgust.

when Israel kills 40000 innocent people and then blocks aid

blob-sleep

..

when Venezuela blocks American aid (that in the past has been used to smuggle weapons on the continent), across a bridge that has already been closed for months, and the aid gets set on fire but actually from a right winger's molotov, while other aid is being allowed into the country from nonprofits, and USAID elsewhere in the country is being used to fund right wing parties:

[-] Z_Poster365@hexbear.net 34 points 2 years ago

It’s crazy that it takes official “reports” to say what we could all obviously witness for it to become news. To liberals, things don’t exist until an official authority gives you permission to believe your lying eyes

[-] tactical_trans_karen@hexbear.net 11 points 2 years ago

My lying eyes saw zionist freaks destroying food and aid on trucks while Israeli police just stood there and watched... Like 6 months ago.

[-] Z_Poster365@hexbear.net 5 points 2 years ago

I also saw IDF massacring people who came for food

[-] tactical_trans_karen@hexbear.net 3 points 2 years ago

Tony says it must be Russian AI propaganda tho.

[-] Homer_Simpson@hexbear.net 31 points 2 years ago

Yea, but did you see Trump pay for a woman's groceries?

[-] SmokinStalin@hexbear.net 19 points 2 years ago

[-] doubtingtammy@lemmy.ml 29 points 2 years ago

What's interesting is these aren't leftists or activists the administration is pushing back on. It's career bureaucrats trying to follow the law. One of the big scary things about project 2025/trump is supposed to be how agencies are being stripped of all independence. Liberals are supposed to defer to the experts.

[-] Evilphd666@hexbear.net 19 points 2 years ago

Project 2025 is has been already here and they both collusion . Dems let it happen to magically give them campaign red meat to back off doing healthcare or anything else. Notice that topic is mysteriously absent in this election.

They want to get back to platitudes and 20 years until some ass on the Supreme Court dies and then be forced to do soemthing in a drawn out timeline. They don't care who suffers as long as they don't have to inconvenience the purse.

[-] GoodGuyWithACat@hexbear.net 25 points 2 years ago

I thought the executive was supposed to lie to Congress, it's what every other administration has done.

[-] buh@hexbear.net 23 points 2 years ago

ah, well nevertheless

LOCK HIM UP blinken-pain

powell-propaganda We do not currently ASSess - die-motherfucker

[-] merthyr1831@lemmy.ml 11 points 2 years ago

The US is a weird beast. Regularly acts with impunity and decimated thousands of lives with no internal OR external accountability, but at the same time reliant on weird politicking to keep the killing going else some weird technicality will accidentally force them to make the world less shitty.

Newcomm and Newsmega Rules:

The Hexbear Code of Conduct and Terms of Service apply here.

  1. Link titles: Please use informative link titles. Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.

  2. Content warnings: Posts on the newscomm and top-level replies on the newsmega should use content warnings appropriately. Please be thoughtful about wording and triggers when describing awful things in post titles.

  3. Fake news: No fake news posts ever, including April 1st. Deliberate fake news posting is a bannable offense. If you mistakenly post fake news the mod team may ask you to delete/modify the post or we may delete it ourselves.

  4. Link sources: All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include the Xcancel.com (or another Nitter instance) or at least strip out identifier information from the twitter link. There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance, such as Libredirect or archive them as you would any other reactionary source.

  5. Archive sites: We highly encourage use of non-paywalled archive sites (i.e. archive.is, web.archive.org, ghostarchive.org) so that links are widely accessible to the community and so that reactionary sources don’t derive data/ad revenue from Hexbear users. If you see a link without an archive link, please archive it yourself and add it to the thread, ask the OP to fix it, or report to mods. Including text of articles in threads is welcome.

  6. Low effort material: Avoid memes/jokes/shitposts in newscomm posts and top-level replies to the newsmega. This kind of content is OK in post replies and in newsmega sub-threads. We encourage the community to balance their contribution of low effort material with effort posts, links to real news/analysis, and meaningful engagement with material posted in the community.

  7. American politics: Discussion and effort posts on the (potential) material impacts of American electoral politics is welcome, but the never-ending circus of American Politics© Brought to You by Mountain Dew™ is not welcome. This refers to polling, pundit reactions, electoral horse races, rumors of who might run, etc.

  8. Electoralism: Please try to avoid struggle sessions about the value of voting/taking part in the electoral system in the West. c/electoralism is right over there.

  9. AI Slop: Don't post AI generated content. Posts about AI race/chip wars/data centers are fine.
