Burger king foot lettuce. The last thing you'd want in your Burger King burger is someone's foot fungus. But as it turns out, that might be what you get. A 4channer uploaded a photo anonymously to the site showcasing his feet in a plastic bin of lettuce. With the statement: "This is the lettuce you eat at Burger King." Admittedly, he had shoes on.

But that's even worse.

The post went live at 11:38 PM on July 16, and a mere 20 minutes later, the Burger King in question was alerted to the rogue employee. At least, I hope he's rogue. How did it happen? Well, the BK employee hadn't removed the Exif data from the uploaded photo, which suggested the culprit was somewhere in Mayfield Heights, Ohio. This was at 11:47. Three minutes later at 11:50, the Burger King branch address was posted with wishes of happy unemployment. 5 minutes later, the news station was contacted by another 4channer. And three minutes later, at 11:58, a link was posted: BK's "Tell us about us" online forum. The foot photo, otherwise known as exhibit A, was attached. Cleveland Scene Magazine contacted the BK in question the next day. When questioned, the breakfast shift manager said "Oh, I know who that is. He's getting fired." Mystery solved, by 4chan. Now we can all go back to eating our fast food in peace.

Maybe I judged Poland too harshly.

[-] viva_la_juche@hexbear.net 62 points 1 week ago

I owe you an apology, Poland. I wasn’t really familiar with your game

Eastern Europe in general is more redeemable than Western Europe and USA.

0 euphemisms involving light bulbs, unsurprisingly

[-] PolandIsAStateOfMind@lemmygrad.ml 49 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Second dude is correct. Also we have plenty words for job/labour, but most is pejorative.

EDIT: but we have not only just one single word for onion with no synonyms, "cebula", but that word may also mean other things, for example stingy person or some things having layers, or any plant bulb.

one my favorite thing about Russian language is the root of the word for 'to work' and 'job;' "Работать" и "Работа" ("Rab-oh-tat" and "Ra-boh-tah") is the root word for slave 'Раб" ("Rab")

Also a word for a worker (masculine), by attaching the masculine person-role suffix '-Ник' ('-Nik,') is Работник ("Rab-oht-nik") which yes is exactly the origin for the name of eggman-announcement

[-] keepcarrot@hexbear.net 21 points 1 week ago

I feel like robotnik's vibes would be more master oriented than worker or slave oriented.

Interesting that our word for slave comes from slavic people's, but their word for worker comes from their word for slave.

The french "travail" comes from latin for torture. Actually pregnant women go into "travail"~labor.

I can't believe I'm liking a tweet made by a Pole. Feels unnatural.

[-] PolandIsAStateOfMind@lemmygrad.ml 39 points 1 week ago

For me too, and i am a Pole, but every time i go to the Polish normie parts of net in 10 minutes top i want to grab a clog and smash a lot of electonic devices.

[-] PolandIsAStateOfMind@lemmygrad.ml 18 points 1 week ago

No. We use various other methods, for example i summoned a lesser devil and ordered him to telepathically convey the content of your post into 456 white mice which used my second computer to input the content into text to speech device which read it to me loudly using the voice simulacrum of dying pope John Paul 2.

I must say that being illiterate wasn't such a hassle a century ago.

Do they have words for Hope, Cash, and Bacon?

[-] Erika3sis@hexbear.net 31 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

It's robić loda as an infinitive verb and robienie loda as a verbal noun, if anyone's wondering. Polish apparently has a number of other terms for blowjobs, too, as one might expect, which are considerably less interesting.

Incidentally, there is no Wiktionary article for the word "pitjob".

Edit: Alright so I went to the Wikipedia article for armpit fetishism and found that apparently armpit sex is called "bagpiping", and indeed on Wiktionary the third sense listed for "bagpipe" as a verb is the sexual meaning, so at least there's that... Incidentally, the Wikipedia article for armpit fetishism is one of the few sex-related Wikipedia articles that's actually gotten me to snicker a little, just because of the captions under the photos, and because of the very unexpected lone example the article provides of armpit fetishism "in popular culture".

Look up how much slang there is for jacking off.

Bić niemca po kasku and czochrać bobra are my favorites.

The anglo mind cannot understand treats, only the nation of people blessed by God: Poland

And anyway, if you are giving oral sex, you should be treating that shit like a job. You should be punching a clock and collecting overtime pay. You should be contributing to a pension fund, if you get what I'm saying

[-] ColonelKataffy@hexbear.net 40 points 1 week ago

you should be treating that shit like a job

show up hungover, late, and put in minimal effort?

[-] Rod_Blagojevic@hexbear.net 9 points 1 week ago

[-] aaro@hexbear.net 8 points 1 week ago

[-] invalidusernamelol@hexbear.net 21 points 1 week ago

I wonder what was happening around the turn of the century that would cause the biblical use of Job (an allegory for suffering) to be overtaken by the colloquial use of job for atomized labor?

[-] courier8377@hexbear.net 6 points 1 week ago

Why is this graph looking at mr so fucking smugly fuck this graph smug ass face

Even Anglo names are just jobs. It isn't a result of capitalism (as job based Anglo names are a product of feudalism), but why are anglos so culturally obsessed with work? What are the material conditions for the placement of work above family in so much of Europe?

The english language can absolutely-not brag when it has no word to say "métier"! What is your fricking Beruf?? Don't you get it? That thing that you are, not what you do, both as trade and job!!

[-] Hexboare@hexbear.net 5 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Do you know what the English word for métier is? It has French origins.
