No, but I can see why that's necessary. That's the smorking area.

That’s the smoking area for the king of the smors.

As an electrician in the South, I've seen spelling you people wouldn't believe.

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

They're clearly talking about New Zealand.

Surely someone who makes such a statement has taken at least one picture of an egregiously spelled word to send to a friend. Please share!

I went digging, I know I have one somewhere of a panel schedule that was downright incomprehensible. If it turns up I'll follow up :)

I appreciate that the junction box is labeled. There's a switch in my hallway that does nothing and has baffled me for years until I fixed an exhaust fan in the attic and found "hall switch" scrawled in Sharpie on a random junction box cover.

I have a switch in the wall that the previous owners thought was so important, they chiseled out the brick wall to install it, but I can't figure out what it does.

But I'm not brave enough to actually remove, so it's going to be the mystery switch forever

I installed a big red button that does absolutely nothing in a client's server room years ago. It has a wire going into the wall that's tied off to a nail and another wire that's grounded to their server rack. I told them to hit the button in the server room and restart whichever computer is having the issue before calling for support. Their support calls dropped pretty significantly.

When people left the company I let them in on the joke. When I left the consulting company I let management in on the joke. I found out several months ago that it's still there and most people are still hitting it and rebooting their computers before they call for support. That fake button saved them a crazy amount of money in MSP support calls.
