Summary

Project 2025, a manifesto supported by the conservative Heritage Foundation, calls for a ban on pornography, labeling its purveyors as criminals and advocating for strict penalties, including jail time for producers and registered sex offender status for educators distributing it.

The manifesto argues that porn lacks First Amendment protection, framing it as harmful and exploitative.

With a right-leaning Supreme Court, proponents aim to overturn existing protections established in Miller v. California, potentially impacting mainstream media.

Donald Trump has pledged to bring Project 2025 contributors onto his team.

Do it.

Fuck around and find out.

The sad thing is, the nation will care more about porn than abortion rights. 🤦‍♂️

[-] Treczoks@lemmy.world 4 points 4 hours ago

And again, the US totally failed to learn from history. This time, even their own history. Do you actually have history classes in school, or has this been replaced by "American" "football" or "Cheerleading" classes already?

Hint: I'm talking about 1920 to 1933, when organized crime in the US was thriving like mad due to a similar stupid idea. This time, it won't be any better. Keywords: Volstead Act and Cullen-Harrison Act

It makes me wonder what the rest of the country outside my state is even learning. When I was in high school, it felt like WW2 was the ONLY history being taught in regular history class. I had to take an elective, AP, European history class just to learn something other than the American revolution, the civil war, civil rights movement, women's sufferage, and WW2.

Oh man do I ever hope they ban porn in the US. That would be fucking hilarious.

[-] moon@lemmy.cafe 1 points 7 hours ago

That's a terrible way to think

[-] Cruxifux@feddit.nl 11 points 6 hours ago

If you don’t think the incel groups that are super pro trump getting their porn privileges revoked isn’t funny as fuck, you’re wrong.

[-] Zementid@feddit.nl 1 points 5 hours ago

Incels do not consume legal porn. That why they are so fucked up.

[-] Cruxifux@feddit.nl 1 points 4 hours ago

What? Streaming porn is not illegal.

[-] RagingRobot@lemmy.world 2 points 6 hours ago

As hard as you try you can never stop people from posting porn on the internet. It would be as big of a disaster as the war on drugs.

[-] rsuri@lemmy.world 2 points 4 hours ago

If porn is made illegal, only criminals will have porn.

[-] Gammelfisch@lemmy.world 9 points 8 hours ago

The Americans can choose between Vlad's Russia, CCP China, 1979 Iran and All of the Above. WTF, the fucking Nazis did not ban porn.

[-] Mac@mander.xyz 3 points 6 hours ago

Cannot wait for black market porn. lmao
I have a couple friends that already distribute.

[-] JohnyRocket@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 5 hours ago

VPN sponsor spots are going to contain a lot of eyebrow wiggling with references to censored content

[-] socsa@piefed.social 47 points 14 hours ago

The porn ban will just be the excuse they use to crack down on VPNs so they can implement a full on Chinese style internet censorship program.

[-] nexusband@lemmy.world 15 points 13 hours ago

Goof luck for the companies depending on VPNs...but hey, Donnie's going to crash the economy anyway, so why fret.

[-] 800XL@lemmy.world 4 points 10 hours ago

Tank it purposefully and then say he's the only one who can fix it.

[-] spector@lemmy.ca 5 points 10 hours ago

They're doing their own version of Iranian revolution aren't they.

[-] Joker@sh.itjust.works 38 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago)

People who voted for Trump after he won:

The same people after he declare porn illegal.

[-] rickyrigatoni@lemm.ee 26 points 16 hours ago

So? The president is a felon. Crime is legal.

[-] Feathercrown@lemmy.world 79 points 20 hours ago

I hope they actually do it. This is like the abortion issue, if they actually go through with it people will be like "What?? How could this happen??"

[-] AceFuzzLord@lemm.ee 23 points 17 hours ago

Considering the countrybas a whole didn't learn from 2016, there is absolutely no way anything would change.

[-] Cethin@lemmy.zip 17 points 13 hours ago

Ironically, they're also significantly more likely to watch transgender porn. People are weird and stupid.

[-] Mac@mander.xyz 1 points 6 hours ago

I'm sure they'll get a secret pass.

[-] pineapplelover@lemm.ee 10 points 15 hours ago

Download all the porn right now before it gets banned

[-] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 5 points 7 hours ago

step 1) download 20TB of porn

step 2) build a $8k AI server that will train on all the porn

step 3)????

step 4) endlessly beat your meat until it falls off

[-] Mac@mander.xyz 1 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago)

I'd forgo porn before i utilized AI for it.
That's just gross.

[-] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 3 points 6 hours ago

i grew up in an era where if you squinted and cocked your head a bit, hey... doesn't that look like a tit?

when you're sad and horny, you'll fap to just about anything.

[-] Mac@mander.xyz 2 points 5 hours ago

You might. I'll just use my imagination.

[-] Phoenicianpirate@lemm.ee 11 points 14 hours ago

registered sex offender status for educators distributing it

If a book in your classroom or school library has anything beyond a heterosexual peck on the cheek, congratulations, you're now a sex offender. Not a joke.
