Like sorry dude but unless he was a really bad doctor, he should be forced to go back to his old job. Humanity needs medical professionals more than it needs comic actors. It takes like ten years to train a replacement doctor.

The number of doctors is generally limited by doctors to keep salaries artificially high.

There is also significant opposition to allowing other medical professionals to undertake basic activities that are traditionally the domain of doctors.

Even between doctors different specialities fight each other to maintain a monopoly on certain procedures, like gastroenterologists and general/gastric surgeon with endoscopy, or any time general practitioners take on a more specialised role to meet a community need, the relevant specialists will complain and denigrate them.

No thanks I'll pass on having a doctor who doesn't even want to be a doctor. As Hexboare has pointed out, the number of doctors in the US is artificially limited already.

Thesis: Ken Jeong should go back to practicing medicine

Antithesis: Ken Jeong should continue acting if that's his passion

Synthesis: Ken Jeong should have a daytime show where he diagnosed funny medical conditions called "What's Wrong, Dr. Jeong?"

"I don't understand, I thought I'd be diagnosing all exotic diseases with strange symptoms except lupus after the revolution..."

Heard joke once: Medical professional goes to doctor. Says he's depressed. Says life seems harsh and cruel. Says he feels all alone in a threatening world where what lies ahead is vague and uncertain. Doctor says, "Treatment is simple. Great comic actor Ken Jeong is in town tonight. Go and see him. That should pick you up." Man bursts into tears. Says, "But doctor..."

If he can live his life without having to do 18 hour shifts and whatever other absurd conditions USian medical professionals have to work in, good for him.

But have you considered applying the norms that might be relevant in a sane world where education is chosen without coercion and costs are socialized to this world?

No. You haven't. Stupid adorable mind hive.

this but only because he's bad at it

measurehead His character, in the Hangover, is the very example of removed, that self-flagellates and humiliates himself, with his emasculated breeding organ and caricature, that resembles more of Yellow Peril than any Seolman, and reinforces Revacholian orientalism

[-] CleverOleg@hexbear.net 7 points 4 days ago

Eh he’s pretty funny in Community.

[-] Parsani@hexbear.net 7 points 4 days ago

He can have both, as a treat

Didn't he wear a prosthetic private part in the hangovet to perpetuate a stereotype? cringe Fucking westerners cringe

[-] Riffraffintheroom@hexbear.net 22 points 4 days ago

He addresses this in a standup act. Apparently no, that’s just his dick.

[-] ThermonuclearEgg@hexbear.net 6 points 4 days ago

To be fair, if it was actually a packer or something, wouldn't he still say that?

[-] Riffraffintheroom@hexbear.net 2 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

In the stand up act he's specifically responding to the criticism that he was perpetuating anti-asian stereotypes. If he was lying, it was a very bold lie.

[-] Ambii@hexbear.net 5 points 4 days ago

blah blah blah I just don't like his comedy style or acting, that should be reason enough.
