Someone recently suggested megathread posters should also put more of their stuff in actual posts. I agree with that for some of the meatier things, so here's one I put in mega. I'll duplicate my comment below too.

That's so crazy, I can't believe why anybody would have negative views of health insurance companies

I love Anthem, Kaiser, and Cigna

[-] Infamousblt@hexbear.net 43 points 1 month ago

I think my favorite part of health insurance companies is how they deny the procedures and medicines that my doctor prescribes to me in order to increase their shareholder revenue. I just really enjoy that aspect of insurance companies so much!

[-] sewer_rat_420@hexbear.net 42 points 1 month ago

Before health insurance denials, people were getting so much medical care that they just didn't need. It was an atrocity. You don't want your parents and grandparents to be getting medical care, trust me. It isn't necessary.

[-] Grapho@lemmy.ml 6 points 1 month ago

Imagine they get all the procedures their "doctor" says they "need". All of a sudden you have them around for, what, ten? Maybe fifteen more years? That's just a bummer for everyone involved

[-] Mindfury@hexbear.net 15 points 1 month ago

Cigna balls lmao gottem

[-] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 54 points 1 month ago

So they're going to have to monitor like half the population of the USA? Not like they already don't, mind you.

[-] FourteenEyes@hexbear.net 50 points 1 month ago

I honestly feel like they have a watchlist booru where if you click on someone's profile you get a list of every watchlist they're on, from "hates insurance" to "doesn't hate China" to "furry" to "voted socialist"

Just saying it’s hard for the right to position themselves as rebels when they’re constantly being given the thumbs up by the government, internet pop culture, but these are the positions that get censored.

One of the weirdest things right-wing propaganda got them to believe is that there's a secret cabal running the country consisting of HR departments, DEI speakers, gender studies professors, college students, and journalists, and they will be defeated by a plucky band of billionaires, zionists, corporate executives, US soldiers, and Republican politicians.

[-] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 11 points 1 month ago

I’m a little bit confused, why do they even try DARVO? Isn’t the whole thing that they support master morality, which means they can do whatever they want because they’re so awesome?

Like I’d respect them a bit more if their whole thing was “Yeah, we’re the bad guys. But everyone loves us, what are you gonna do about it?”

This piece is quite interesting. I won't put the whole thing here since it's long. Just a few interesting snippets that stand out.

Government Monitoring Those With "Negative" Views of Health Insurance Companies

New documents reveal flurry of intelligence activity following Luigi Mangione's arrest

https://www.kenklippenstein.com/p/government-monitoring-those-with

“Following the shooting, the New York State Intelligence Center (NYSIC-CTC) identified a large amount of negative sentiment towards healthcare executives and health insurance companies on social media,” a bulletin produced by a regional intelligence group on December 12 says. The bulletin goes on to warn of “users online wanting to counter ‘corporate greed’” as well as “growing negative sentiment around conglomerates, the wealthy, and executive staff at private and public organizations.” Setting aside the yeah-no-shit factor, the report provides rare insight into how the government threat machine stokes fear among law enforcement agencies across the country.

...

To give a sense of just how many of these kinds of reports are pinballing around the law enforcement world, here’s one produced by the Southern Nevada Counter Terrorism Center (SNCTC) and also obtained by Property of the People. Like the New York bulletin, this one also focuses on “online rhetoric” expressing “criticism of the public health care system and corporate executives.” Sound familiar?

The shooting spurred online support from Racially Motivated Violent Extremists (RMVE), anticapitalists, Anarchist/Anti-government/Anti-authority violent extremist groups (AGAAVE), and unaffiliated individuals

Amuses me that they lump all of these together under "AGAAVE" because they're too lazy to understand the differences but also refer to "anticapitalists" as a different thing to AGAAVE. I assume that what they actually mean when they say anticapitalists is socialists/communists but they do not want to use that language for one reason or another.

When New York Governor Kathy Hochul touts more funding for “social media intelligence analysts & counterterrorism intelligence analysts,” as she did earlier this month, reports like these are what those taxes dollars are going towards.

As absurd as these reports might seem, they’re taken seriously not just by law enforcement, but also the media outlets they’re routinely leaked to. They are also frequently provided to private industry, which are given alarmist recommendations like these:

Lol this shit is so basic.

"motion-censored lights" - like strobe lights? You just get a series of still images?

These people require so much exploited labor just to exist, imagine having to vet your gardener because you're so worried about being attacked by your employees.

It must require so much effort to maintain that kind of cognitive distortion. No wonder they think they work so hard.

[-] Ildsaye@hexbear.net 6 points 1 month ago

I hope they wake up exhausted every day after dreaming endlessly of fleeing angry guillotine-bearing crowds who keep finding them

[-] Hestia@hexbear.net 34 points 1 month ago

So uhhhh... Now they're just monitoring everyone twice over?
