Here I'm going to criticize the right real quick.

The right is so boring. Jeeze. Always hysterical. They don't like information that is rooted fact. So culturally hitlerist.

"The left is boring"

Damn, imagine picking a side based on your need to be entertained.

[-] stoy@lemmy.zip 49 points 4 months ago

The way I allways think about it when someone talks about politics being boring.

I compare it to a nuclear powerplant.

I don't want to live next to an exciting nuclear powerplant, if I had to live next to a nuclear powerplant, I want it to be as boring and as dull as possible.

Same with politics, I don't want an exciting government, I want a boring and predictable government.

"They are completely uninterested in information that counters their views"

Oh, the irony.

Flaired users only

Reddit is not our friend. But I guess us Lemmies already knew that.

But Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok are not our friend either. We need to consider the current social media landscape as right wing moving forward especially as more media moguls bow to Trump.

We have to accept that the ones weilding all the power right now are accelerationists themselves. They want the government to fail and they want to install their own. Unsurprisingly, they also own all the tech companies you just listed.

  1. Those are amateur numbers. The conservative sub has never been able to get upvoted posts even close to the top upvoted daily posts on Reddit.

  2. Most of us are here because it's become clear to us that Reddit is quickly devolving. 3rd party apps banned. Sub mods with enough power to get your entire account banned site-wide. Subs that auto-ban you simply for commenting in other subs they don't like. A new block system that changed to block your replies entirely, instead of just preventing the blocker from seeing your replies, so you cannot correct anyone's misinformation for others to see. And the propaganda and misinformation is simply off the charts.

Reddit is becoming a social media cesspool like so many others before it. Time to jump ship.

lemmy is better but not that better.

i always downvote AI stuff on lemmy and i noticed i cant downvote on main AI instances anymore recently. i never say anything, never comment.

[-] Blaze@lemmy.dbzer0.com 17 points 4 months ago

i noticed i cant downvote on main AI instances anymore recently.

If all you ever did was to downvote content, maybe the mods did indeed ban you. We had a discussion recently on !fedigrow@lemm.ee on what to do in such situations.

I never say anything, never comment.

Seems like it

[-] KairuByte@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 4 months ago

Bans don’t prevent your votes from counting, unless things have changed in the past year and a bit.

[-] tophneal@sh.itjust.works 6 points 4 months ago

Why not just block the pervasive communities or instances? I get pretty annoyed with the AI content too, but it feels so much easier/satisfying to block the comms and know I'll never see them again lol

[-] Cikos@lemmy.world 0 points 4 months ago

i can. downvoting them gives me the satisfaction. their post always have less than 10 upvotes but after the ban i see their post gaining 10+ opvotes, im not the only one doing it.

[-] mesamunefire@lemmy.world 26 points 4 months ago

It's very strange to see that subreddit on the front page every day since the election.

Before it would only hit once in a blue moon. It's too bad reddit did away with the up/downvote count a long time ago. To think you could actually get the real score on reddit. Now I have a feeling their algorithm is promoting certain posts like this one.

But that's why we are on Lemmy/pixelfed/etc.

Maybe it's a good thing because it might signal left leaning people leaving but I think it's more likely they are seeing artificially boosted.

Yeah it’s 100% astroturfed man fucking hell

[-] AlexWIWA@lemmy.ml 1 points 4 months ago

The usernames alone make me suspicious

[-] casmael@lemm.ee 3 points 4 months ago

Yeah it looks formatted doesn’t it - word / hyphen / word / hyphen / number / lmao

[-] AlexWIWA@lemmy.ml 5 points 4 months ago

Yeah it’s the Reddit default username generator. I always assume that they’re spam

[-] casmael@lemm.ee 3 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

🤦‍♂️

Like to be honest probably pretty safe to assume about half of what happens on the internet is just bots talking to other bots*

*editors note: the author is well aware of the optimism in the idea that only half of internet traffic is bots, but whatever

[-] AlexWIWA@lemmy.ml 2 points 4 months ago

For all you know, we’re both bots.

[-] Freefall@lemmy.world 17 points 4 months ago

Conservatives are so mad that the world is left-leaning. The denial and self-delusion is almost sad to see.

[-] x00z@lemmy.world 14 points 4 months ago

I hate it that all these people call it "left wing" because there's censorship.

This censorship is actually right-wing censorship to protect their website from trouble from the left-wing. It's as simple as that.

Companies like Reddit and other social media don't care about the content. They only care about money and a reasonable good image.

[-] usualsuspect191@lemmy.ca 13 points 4 months ago

Reddit is not real life

Funny, neither is Conservatism

[-] krashmo@lemmy.world 11 points 4 months ago

They won the election and made large gains with pretty much every demographic so in a very real sense, yes it is.

[-] sunzu2@thebrainbin.org -2 points 4 months ago

who is "they" here?

[-] ICastFist@programming.dev 13 points 4 months ago

Tired of reporting this thread? Debate us on Discord instead!

That bot speaks a lot about the quality of the typical r/conservative thread

[-] socsa@piefed.social 2 points 4 months ago

Spoiler alert: they will just ban you on discord

[-] Glasgow@lemmy.ml 9 points 4 months ago

I assumed we were upvoting them to laugh at them.

[-] Clinicallydepressedpoochie@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

I cant stand subs that are openly hostile to outside commenter's. I don't care how ridiculous they are I wish them buried away at the bottom of the ocean.

Also why I can't stand reddit in general.

[-] Haus@kbin.earth 8 points 4 months ago

Reddit made Trump. Change my mind.

[-] Clinicallydepressedpoochie@lemmy.world 27 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

I think the_donald gave him some more runway but really I think it was him calling into Fox and Friends that solidified his base.

[-] Ghyste@sh.itjust.works 19 points 4 months ago

The media made Trump. That includes social media.

[-] belastend@slrpnk.net 7 points 4 months ago

Really? Reddit? Above 4chan, FoxNews, Andrew Taint, Elon Musk and Twitter, Facebook, Tiktok and Instagram? Reddit???

Dont like that site either but this is absurd.

[-] conicalscientist@lemmy.world 0 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

It's schrodingers social media platform. Simultaneously had an impact on the zeitgeist and none at all. Objectively speaking it did. The thing about reddit is it's the one that everybody uses but nobody talks about using. So people have developed this strange cognitive dissonance. Where reddit seems to exist but also did not... because it's required that reddit was peoples secret hideout so it can't have been too popular because that would ruin its historical cachet.

And now the phenomenon has morphed into some other strange beast. Where reddit is right now undeniably a popular platform so that dichotomy can't hold up anymore. Now people refer to reddit in the third person while being redditors themselves. Lately it's very obvious seeing on reddit the users referring to "reddit" as if they aren't themselves a part of it. This post is a very example of the phenomenon. Conservatives screeching about a fictionalized "reddit" in their head that is some kind of far left caricature. A thing that never existed. This kind of thing cuts across all kinds of intersections. People using "reddit" as a label for whatever the other side of the argument they have in their head with zero self awareness that they are "reddit" themselves.

The reality is that reddit is a sibling platform to 4chan. You cannot separate /pol/ from 4chan any more than you can separate the far right parts from reddit. To say reddit is left wing is as delusional to say 4chan is left wing. One can point to the lgbt board on 4chan and say, "look it's the lefties". Some how that is more digestible than selectively picking some lgbt subreddits as proof that reddit is left echo chamber.

The venn diagram of reddit, 4chan, and any given social media platform is a lot closer than people want to admit. Because apparently reddit is a secret that everyone has but nobody wants to cop to. And it's also everyone's favorite strawman. Except when it comes time to talk about the impact its had on the world. Then poof it doesn't exist at all.

[-] rivenskye@lemm.ee 7 points 4 months ago

They are so mad rn it's funny.

[-] murmelade@lemmy.ml 3 points 4 months ago

I always upvote their posts in r/all so everyone can see what morons they are and laugh at them

[-] rivenskye@lemm.ee 3 points 4 months ago

Best to keep yourself informed so you can see all this madness and lack of empathy and critical thinking. They've been in their bubbles too long. 2025 polls show that they are becoming increasingly unpopular. They are so mad lol.

https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/polls/favorability/donald-trump/

[-] rivenskye@lemm.ee 1 points 4 months ago

Although also notice that favorability has gone up. What is wrong with people?

[-] Kraven_the_Hunter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 4 months ago

Awww, one of them thinks they learned something..

[-] Treczoks@lemmy.world 4 points 4 months ago

If you fail to locate the downvote button, don't complain.

[-] HappySkullsplitter@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago

I'm beginning to suspect that my odd sitewide ban after 10 years on reddit was intentional
