Kind of funny that the same people who constantly glaze white people want to muscle them out of every single job except back-breaking trades: literally choosing their job for them.
Maybe I'm naive... I don't think their ideology is developed enough, but there's almost a kind of sense to it.
Tech oligarchs want cheap, compliant labor.
Push the ostensibly-protected native population out of the education pipeline for those jobs and into trades.
Complain there aren't enough graduates to meet that demand in the country.
Increase the ability to import workers with tenuous legal status in the country.
Also, as a bonus, end birthright citizenship to allow for maximum coercion in the event the imported worker has a child while in the country.

Compared to the rest of the government, the DoEd is tiny. They make up a negligible amount of Federal employees (rounds to 0%), and have a relatively small budget (less than 2%).
2% too many! Besides, anything that supports workers? Removing it is TOP PRIORITY! That 2% means more money to subsidize BUSINESS!
Ah but if we got rid of that 2%, we could add that straight into our concentration camp budget!

It's been referred to committee, who knows it if it will make it back out. I'd say that I don't expect it to come to a vote, but I'm not making any predictions at this point. I mean the Republican party has been trying to get rid of public school for some time.
