These people think antifascists join an org like a communist party lmao

Also, BLM has been completely pacified by the Democrat party and these hogs are still foaming at the mouth about it

https://abcnews.go.com/Business/wireStory/former-federal-reserve-adviser-indicted-arrested-alleged-espionage-118346241

A grand jury indictment accuses John Harold Rogers, 63, of Vienna, Virginia, of stealing Federal Reserve trade secrets and selling them to Chinese intelligence officials for at least $450,000 by posing as a university professor in China.

He worked as a prof for a Chinese university, so this seems like just new Red Scare crap on its face.

Federal Reserve trade secrets

I'm a scientist, not a free market fanboy and I only kind of understand the obscure sorcery they call MMT. Why the fuck would the Fed have "trade secrets"? Are they nominally a for-profit enterprise?

[-] Maturin@hexbear.net 21 points 2 weeks ago

Are they nominally a for-profit enterprise?

yes

Who owns the fed if not the us government?

Can I just use this opportunity to say it sucks to be a midcareer nonconformist? You got your suspicions early enough that you didn't buy in for the time it takes to become a true believer with valuable access, but you also didn't have the foresight to plan your career around worming your way into the most sensitive systems in order to do maximum damage.

These people are like fucking cartoon characters out of a comic book the way they talk about CHYNA and shit. We're being beaten by literal morons acting like McCarthy supervillains in a bad issue of Marvel.

Fascism has always been about the biggest clowns you know doing the worst acts of cruelty you can imagine.

Shame that they’re also badly written mary sues and we’re the ones stuck with Saturday morning cartoon villain bad luck.

Being on the left makes me feel like the political equivalent of team rocket.

This has got to be fake, right? Do we have any sources for this letter?

Although I'm a very fluent English speaker, I'm not a native so my instincts may be a bit off here, but... this reads like a text you would find in an elementary or lower-intermediate ESOL textbook. It has the writing style and cadence of something that's written for children or people who are learning English.

If this was really written by Mr. Edward R. Martin, Jr., United States Attorney, he is writing like someone who's trying to communicate with a child, which would be funny in other circumstances.

[-] crime@hexbear.net 30 points 2 weeks ago

I agree with your instincts —I think there's a good chance that it was written with the knowledge that Musk would post it publicly (and thus the audience is Twitter hogs), or written by Musk himself, possibly with a little bit of LLM assistance. Americans as a whole are pretty illiterate, though, so it's hard to say.

[-] SpiderFarmer@hexbear.net 18 points 2 weeks ago

It does seem a little bit AI influenced, for sure. Or maybe Edward really lacks a good writing flow.

[-] nothx@hexbear.net 14 points 2 weeks ago

Edward most definitely doesn't write these. It would be one of his staffers using AI to write it.

"Anyone imperiling others violating our laws."

Can't tell if broken US education system or fake

[-] AssortedBiscuits@hexbear.net 17 points 2 weeks ago

"Dear Elon" is pretty sus. It should be "Dear Mr. Musk" or [Musk's made-up position] Musk." No way this dude's staff would make such a mistake, especially in the context of someone sucking up to Musk.

McCarthyism is officially back on the table. Free speech is a fundamental right but anyone saying the wrong thing once again gets to officially be a commie spy

[-] Evilphd666@hexbear.net 29 points 2 weeks ago

Comically Red Scare. Did Elon write this up himself?

That’s what the DOJ is for, isn’t it? Going after political enemies?

[-] barrbaric@hexbear.net 7 points 2 weeks ago

I'm pretty sure it's actually for doing show trials where your political enemies don't suffer any consequences, Jack biden-alert

[-] blunder@hexbear.net 6 points 2 weeks ago

DOJ.... DOGE....

Oh my God
