X-2

Idol group attempts to save the world with the power of music, but that doesn't work so they switch to the power of violence

[-] CarmineCatboy2@hexbear.net 14 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

the weird thing is that the power of music worked the first time around

X should be "In a world without therapists, daddy issues go too far"

[-] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 14 points 2 months ago

"Therapy? A tool of Al-Behd and their machina!" - A Racist Hawaiin Played By Bender From Futurama

[-] Cammy@hexbear.net 4 points 2 months ago

What do you need therapy for? Just go visit that cave where you can look at ghosts.

could this be considered XII's 'Tidus laugh' moment??

[-] isleofdia@hexbear.net 8 points 2 months ago

went back and watched that section of the game again and man, the party really just pushed that task off onto Vaan for him to debase himself with and then get kidnapped, smh

My only memory of Final Fantasy 13 was that I encountered a bug during the Barthandelus fight, where Lightning kept shouting, "BARTHANDELUS!!!" over and over again for the entire battle.

[-] CarmineCatboy2@hexbear.net 9 points 2 months ago

i did not play 13, all i know about it is from internet discourse. so i am unconvinced that was a bug

[-] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 11 points 2 months ago

XI should be: 3 racist fantasy kingdoms full of assholes fight against villain of the ~~week~~ expansion.

[-] Carl@hexbear.net 7 points 2 months ago

With the way the game is now, it's more like:

Time traveling fangirl gets fated hero to speedrun saving the world ten times simultaneously.

[-] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 6 points 2 months ago

Oh yeah the ROV missions.

[-] NakariLexfortaine@lemm.ee 9 points 2 months ago

I feel like XIII needs expansion.

Well, not really, but apparently S.E fucking did, so where's the other two parts?

I've only played X and 14

I enjoyed them but im not an MMO guy so i didnt stay on 14 even though it's pretty fun

Accurate, however 2 is one of the best of the series and 3 is really really boring. My other hot takes are that 4 kinda sucks as well. Haven't played anything past 12, which I would have liked if it were turn based and not an offline mmorpg

[-] take_five_seconds@hexbear.net 6 points 2 months ago

4 kinda sucks as well

incorrect

[-] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 5 points 2 months ago

Love an RPG with literally no character or party building

[-] operacion_ogro@hexbear.net 4 points 2 months ago

You mean you're not intrigued by dialogue that is essentially "I'm the villain! Mwahaha!... but in Act II I'll say I'm a good guy! And then in Act III I'll reveal I actually was bad the whole time!!!"

[-] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 4 points 2 months ago

Yeah, it felt kinda flat. The cool star wars ripoff stuff was already done in 2 and had basically Kaine. And you could customize your 3 party members that won't die.

[-] BurgerPunk@hexbear.net 5 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

4 kinda sucks as well

I think 4 is a little overrated. I wouldn't say it sucks, but i salute your hot take rat-salute-2

[-] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 5 points 2 months ago

I found it really unengaging. I'm honestly not big on most final fantasy games in general, liked em as a kid, not so much now. There isn't really any character or party building, which I like doing in an rpg, you have the people you have when the story says you do and they're super static gameplay wise. I didn't really care much for the story but it was also one I played later than the others and was in my late teens the first play. It just felt like a boring slog where I didn't really interact meaningfully
