The model year+color means it's just one car/one driver? Isn't more than 150 violations per year like more than $20k?

[-] TraschcanOfIdeology@hexbear.net 21 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Which is peanuts to thousands of investment bankers and ghouls of similar caliber living in NYC

[-] rubber_chicken@hexbear.net 16 points 4 days ago

COVID was like one day of quiet streets except for ambulances followed by NYERRRRRRRRM until things started opening back up. You can't win with cars. Congestion charges just keep the streets clearer for these assholes.

Fines start at $400 in a school zone and you can only get three before losing your licence - unless you register the car under a company and refuse to nominate a driver - then it's $11k each time

[-] Hexboare@hexbear.net 14 points 4 days ago

the most reckless lead-foot paid over $46,000 in fines, yet still owes a whopping $9,527.45.

[-] SamotsvetyVIA@hexbear.net 3 points 4 days ago

The car would be seized at $5k of fines where I live, or even before that, depending on just how egregious the speed violation was

[-] Cadende@hexbear.net 9 points 4 days ago

there's some shit going on in nyc lol. I don't expect they're paying the fines. Or they're somehow making more on videos of them doing it than the fines cost.

I also can't vouch for its accuracy but I suspect its related to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JpG0LdTNfOc

I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:

That's how I'm interpreting it. Like some sort speeder gang control map.

[-] ZWQbpkzl@hexbear.net 21 points 4 days ago

Coney Island belongs to the Black 2022 Audi A6. He doesn't go to Canarsie, a Black 2020 Mercedes controls that neighborhood.

Nashata are really feeling the squeeze, must be rough. Tamarack must be pretty stress free.

Interesting how they all mostly occupy a small circle area, except when they're influenced by a lake, it causes the lake ones to occupy a much larger territory than the non-lake ones.

Kia Forte’s are really punching above their weight.

Drive it like you stole it, because it's only going to last about 30,000 miles before it needs a new engine anyway

That Pacifica is hauling ass. Timmy will NOT be late for hockey practice.

[-] stupid_asshole69@hexbear.net 14 points 4 days ago

Well if there was PARKING anywhere they could SLOW DOWN once in a while!

All available data confirms my long-standing prejudice against Audi drivers.

Audi is not just a car for rich people, it is a car for rich people who drives like assholes.

[-] Cadende@hexbear.net 10 points 4 days ago

These appear to be specific cars, not just models of vehicle

[-] SkingradGuard@hexbear.net 7 points 4 days ago

Audi is not just a car for rich people, it is a car for rich people who drives like assholes

Or the alternative, a failing small business owner that wants to appear like all his richer friends

[-] JoeByeThen@hexbear.net 13 points 4 days ago

So, this is a map of speed trap locations, right?

[-] Posadas@hexbear.net 22 points 4 days ago

More like a map of where the cameras actually work.

[-] Cadende@hexbear.net 12 points 4 days ago

this is from camera data but these are actually specific vehicles which have been caught by the cameras repeatedly: https://www.amny.com/news/where-drivers-get-speed-camera-tickets-in-nyc/

Most of these cars don’t have turn signals either. Double the danger. Twice the fun.
