Are there already studies on the long-term effect on people's weight? I lost (and gained) weight quite often in my life and I would say without changing habits and the structure of your life, it's impossible to achieve a permanent effect.

If weight loss is iduced with medication only, I would expect the effect to stop as soon as you stop taking the substance.

Or is such a prescription typically coupled with sport programs and health counseling?

The police promised him employment in exchange to climb down the bridge? Does the police have any say in hiring people for the police or even other companies?

Although I appeciate their efforts to save that soul but if such promises make it to the news, wouldn't that rather lead to 'fake' suicide attempts of people trying to negotiate better living conditions?

Just to be sure: Of course I appeciate if the state helps people out of unemployment etc. but that's typically not a task for the police and it definitely shouldn't require climbing on bridges.

When I checked online printing services the last time, they were really expensive. For my very first project (4 custom card organizers) it would have cost me more than a hundred bucks. My printer + the initial accessoires were around than 200 bucks and I've printed so many functional parts since then that it easily amortized itself within the first year.

I own an Ender 3 V2 that I use around 10 times a year. It is one of the less sophisticated printers and still it does not require that much maintenance. You have to remove the dust, level the bed and sometimes clean or exchange the nozzle. More sophisticated printers can also do some stuff automatically (e.g. the bed leveling part).

However, the initial assembly and fine tuning took some time (approx. 1-2 hours), so I wouldn't recommend to dis- and reassemble it all the time. If you don't have that much space, maybe check for a small printer.

When I did my research 2 years ago the Prusa Mini was quite popular for small printer. But if you want to print big parts a lot, it might be a bit annoying as you always have to cut them into smaller chunks, print separate and finally glue them together.

I also don't understand the comparison to piracy but I think being a vegetarian is definitely more ethical than being an omnivore as long as you don't overcompensate meat with other animal products. If you stop eating chicken and in exchange start to eat an additional 3 eggs a day, that's probably worse for animals and nature.

If you just cut back on meat and replace it with vegan alternatives while eating the same amount of cheese, eggs etc. as before it DOES have a positive impact and we should appeciate one's efforts.

Hell, even flexitarians have a positive impact. Right now, there's around 90% omnivores worldwide. If all these omnivores reduced their consumption of animal products by let's say 20%, it would have a far bigger impact than another 2% going full blown vegan.

Furthermore, it can be tough to go vegan all of a sudden. It takes time to change your diet, learn about healthy protein sources, essential nutrients and stuff. Going flexitarian first, then vegetarian and potentially vegan allows you to take one step at a time.

Also being vegan is not where it ends in terms of caring for the environment. You can keep reducing your personal footprint indefinitely. No more flights, no car, less electricity, less shopping. Everything helps. And everyone should try to contribute in the way that feels the most manageable for your personal circumstances.

Thank you so much for sharing the results. Very interesting to see the outcome after participating in the survey.

Out of interest: do you know how many participants came from Lemmy compared to other platforms?

YTA

He spend so much time trying to help you out of your addiction and you're just disregarding all his efforts as not helpful.

You could also argue that cardboard isn't the right material to build shelves and tables from. Yet Ikea makes them and - at least in my experience - they're pretty stable and good-looking. So why not make a cabin from firewood? :-P
