Gears of War 1 is so dedicated to its drab colour scheme that even blood is mostly black instead of red

I wonder if someone somewhere in the development team had a foot fetish for really big feet, or if it was just a clunky modernization of the Quake guy.
Everything in the original Gears of War games, from the COG soldiers to the weapons, vehicles, monsters and creatures looks like chunky action figures. I like how earnestly dumb it all is
