People used to capitalize the word Internet because it was a place you could go to. Now it's no longer a place, it's everywhere around you so people started writing the word internet in lowercase

This week I practiced meditation on 5 days in a row.

I'm on my vacation as of yesterday so I'm officially done with improvement for this year. Just want to rest and relax for the rest of this month. It's time for couch-maxxing comfy

I'm also ready to kick some ass in 2026! unity

I feel like I have a decent baseline of good habits, hopefully I can make even more progress next year

I think that a sleep routine is one of the most important things for good sleep. Especially if you can stop using screens and do some reading before bed. I'm trying to do that but it's still a struggle

I use Insight Timer for meditation, it's a good free app. Regarding exercise, there have been some studies that vigorous exercise is very effective even in short bursts so I'm even more motivated to do it daily

This week I started playing Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor. It's a Vampire Survivors style bullet heaven game, but the twist is that this one also has mining.

I'm five hours in, really enjoying it so far. It has a satisfying gameplay loop. You're always making progress and unlocking stuff even if you fail a mission. There are extra objectives on every map to keep you busy instead of just running in a circle.

Poster caption"Greetings to the world’s largest Dnieprostroi Hydroelectric Station that has started operating. Long live the most productive workers of socialist construction! DGES (Hydroelectric Station Of Dnieper-Petrovsk)."

This poster is oversized. The Dnieprostroi Hydroelectric Station was built on the Dnieper River, the third largest river in Europe. Soviet architects designed the dam and its buildings while a U.S. team assisted with the engineering. When completed in 1932, the dam was the biggest in the world and it was a tremendous achievement for the First Five-Year Plan and for the Soviet Union.

Hello comrades and welcome to the first improvement megathread of November! bonfire It's time to review our progress from October and make some plans for November.

Some discussion ideas:

+ How was your October?

+ Do you have any plans for November?

+ How was your week?

Poster caption"Stand up, rise to your feet, working nation! Endure a little longer! Workers of all countries are rising up and coming to your aid!”

This poster quotes a revolutionary song and notes the first anniversary (1918) of the October Revolution. The date on the poster (November 7) is when the revolution occurred per the Julian Calendar used by Russia at the time. The current Gregorian calendar records the revolution as having been on October 25. Russia changed to the Gregorian after the Soviets took control.

The November Revolution marked the second (and final) phase that terminated the provisional government in Russia. The provisional government was formed after the February Revolution (the first Russian Revolution) when the monarchy was toppled ending Russia's 303 years of under the Romanov Dynasty. Once the provisional government was dissolved, Russia came under the control of Vladimir Lenin and the Bolsheviks.

Good luck in November! comrade-doggo

"Congratulations on a victorious October!"

Aircraft searchlights illuminate the sky forming the number 28 in honor of the 28th anniversary of the October Revolution.

By November 1945, and at the time of the anniversary, the USSR had announced they were on the verge of possessing an atomic bomb, a capability that altered international relations for the next 46 years until the collapse of the USSR. The Red Army soldier illustrated on this poster appears to be from one of the Central Asian republics, and he wears a World War II victory medal on his right side along with other medals. On his left side is a medal similar in its design to the “Order of the Red Banner”.

Good luck with your goals! lenin-pogger

We are so lucky that the rise of fascism happened in the 30s and 40s when people were willing to sacrifice their lives to stop it. If it happened today, people would be like "this is so epic wholesome bacon! take my upvotes!!" libbing-out

Two airplanes crashed into the World Trade Center? Wow. I didn't know that, you're telling me for the first time. They led an amazing life. What else can you say? They were amazing buildings which led an amazing life. I'm actually sad to hear that. Thank you very much.

The plot of the Mad Max video game is that you're just trying to reach a place called the Plains of Silence. You're not trying to save the world or anything, you're just a dude trying to run away from his feelings. 10/10 extremely relatable
