Word is that a one of those phone alerts were sent to everyone living on Romania's coast about an "exploding marine drone" at Constanța's port, and to stay away from the shore. I will choose to forget I saw that.

Happy Pride Month!

Joseph Christian Leyendecker was one of the most prolific commercial artists of 1920s United States, his use of hatching, strong lighting, contrast and selective use of smooth shading created a distinct art style with instantly recognizable forms and silhouettes.

His art became so widely used, praised and emulated, that his style effectively became the visual language of Art Deco and pre-WW2 United States. Sadly, Norman Rockwell eventually replaced him as the face of U.S. art, ~~with his vapid, boring, realist art style.~~

He was also very likely in love with his studio manager and muse, Charles A. Beach. While there are no surviving accounts of Leyendecker admitting to homosexuality, the common consensus is that his lifestyle has matched all the patterns of homosexual men who have lived during his time, which would also give insight about his eye for depicting the male form.

As a freelance illustrator he was commissioned by big magazines for front covers, by companies for illustrated ads and the U.S. military for posters. There are probably hundreds of his pieces out there, but sadly I was not able to find a unified collection. So here is a link to a site where it shows 37 of his illustrations:

◇ ◇ If you drew something that is still a Work In Progress (WIP), this is the place to share it. ◇ ◇

◇ ◇ If you have any art related thoughts or questions, this is the place for that discussion. ◇ ◇

This mega's purpose is to create a casual, low-pressure environment for artists and non-artists alike to engage in sharing their incomplete art, giving feedback to others and holding general art discussion. If you are an artist with original works that are complete, you are highly encouraged to make a standalone post for it.

And when I say incomplete, I do mean literally anything that you wouldn't consider a complete illustration or artwork, from basic anatomical sketches and messy perspective exercises to half-rendered paintings. All skill levels are welcome.

Redditors and Dunning-Kruger victims are now baying for Russian blood. There's got to be some nefarious psi-op attempt going on here.

Kim Jung Gi was one of the most highly acclaimed artists of the 21st century. A heart attack lead to his untimely death in October 2022, being only 47 years old.

He became famous for his inking skills, being capable of drawing highly detailed murals without any reference. His calling card became his use of 5 point perspective with multiple vanishing points. Notably, his perspective skills were the product of practiced intuition, as he only learned the mathematical principles behind it after enrolling in an art school.

He spent most of his time drawing and was invited around the world to paint murals for different occasions. He left behind more than 6000 identifiable works and South Korea opened a museum dedicated to him postmortem.

A collection of his works can be found here: https://archive.org/details/982_20221008/kim-jung-gi-2018-sketch-collection/

He truly was someone an artist can aspire to.

Vladimir Aleksandrovich Serov was a champion of the USSR's "socialist realism" artists, being awarded several accolades for his hard work in ~~making workers look hot~~ depicting workers with delightful grace and overwhelming dignity, as well as portraying key historical moments of the USSR, such as the storming of the Winter Palace,

He was active for most of his life until his death at 58 years old and his many works became the prototypical example of soviet realism. But he was also skilled in creating stylized posters as well. Notably, during the siege of Leningrad he made several posters while inside the besieged city to boost the morale of the population against the invaders.

You can look at a collection of his works here: https://soviet-art.ru/soviet-artist-vladimir-alexandrovich-serov-1910-1968/

Vladimir Serov's art looks impressive at a glance, but that quality wasn't the result of simple fundamental skills, it's nothing other than the crystallization of his passion, his hope and his perseverance.

And that is (mostly) what this mega is all about!

Something about that pretentious "Democracy Dies in Darkness" header above an article openly endorsing perfidy and senseless murder OUTSIDE OF AN ONION ARTICLE is such a perfect encapsulation of the barbarous, smug, white supremacist "culture" of the U.S. it should be a framed museum piece.

The image on the article being Iranian women, which I am sure Marc A. Thiessen deeply cares about, gives the whole thing a perfect dash of Neo-White Man's Burden too. This is the barbarous occidental ape captured in its most natural habitat.

Alexei Leonov was a Soviet cosmonaut as well as a self-taught painter. He is notable for being the first ever human to go on a spacewalk as well as being the artist who drew the first sketch made in space.

It's a drawing made with colored pencils depicting the sun rising over the Earth.

It's a humble drawing, made with passion and hope. Compared to his usual paintings it might even be described as incomplete.

And that is what this mega is all about!

(Because this is the first ever art mega, I will give one of my own incomplete drawings.)

I just remembered that one alleged IDF insider on polymarket with 100% win rate had that bet about Iran being bombed before the end of January.

Today is the 31st, last day of the bet, a Saturday (stock market is closed), all air assets are in place and even more Epstein files were released. Sadly I think the attack is pretty much guaranteed to start today.

I live in Romania, I can confirm that that figure is even worse.

The average labour participation rate (age 15-64) is 63.3%, 18.7% for age 15-24. (source is the official statistics institute report for September 2025)

Out of that 18.7%, 26.9% are considered unemployed for that statistic.

Listening to songs like Tачанка and Полюшко Поле always inspired this heroic mental image of the red cavalry sweeping across the fields to usher in a new future, and I finally got around to depicting that.

I now have a Xitter account! (bluesky too) I can link them, but I will choose not to.
