Of course they do. They live in a world that is structured witi oppressive hierarchies in a way that they feel as fundamentally just. They might whine here and there about marginalised groups being uppity but in the large picture of things they have every reason to be happy with the way the world works.
Being, on average, richer than other groups certainly helps brighten their moods well.

I think that's absolutely true, but I don't think it means they are happier. Fascists are high on copium at all times. Their default state is seething, a lot of those motherfuckers are on the brink of complete mental breakdown at all times. They go through life constantly angry at everything and everyone. But culturally they have to say they're happy and loving life and everything is great, even when they don't mean it.
It begs the question of what happiness is, and that's a hard question to answer.
Saying "I am happy" because of social pressure to look happy is different from being in a positive mental state most of the time.
There are affective self-ratings from 1 to 10 that have been used, and these show statistically significant patterns. But the most rigorous approach is the Day Reconstruction Method, where you get randomly prompted during the day to rate your mental state and state what your activity is. It's more labor-intensive and takes more time, though.

Personally, being a revolutionary socialist makes a lot of my job (retail/logistics) more bearable than for many coworkers, because I recognize the pressures that are being exerted instead of the pressures remaining as enigmas. Also I have hundreds of anarchist friends and I save about 50% of my net wages.

When you simplify things into good-bad dynamics and see that your guy is winning and advancing the things you want to see in the world, probably feels pretty good. Their material conditions are probably getting worse, but they believe there's a greater good coming from it... That and the fact that they tend to not admit to having poor mental health. I know that last part first hand.

why wouldn't the people who view present hierarchies and distributions of entitlements as natural/good (and who frequently benefit from these) be happier than the skeptical (and those that don't)? why pretend they aren't happy? why are ya'll coping-- why are you insisting that conservatives aren't happy actually?
I'm kind of split on the issue because you are right about that, but also I've seen the way that conservatives both live in a world where they are constantly jumping at shadows of communism and DEI and so on and also have some sort of ideological fixation on going "I'm not mad, you're mad".
If you're detached enough from real consequence and your team is doing well, those types of emotions can be enjoyable on some level. I see it as similar to a sports fan who always thinks the sky is falling for their team but religiously follows it anyway.

I was curious how long this "recording of happiness" goes back, and apparently its to the 70's. The GSS conducted these surveys.
"Are We Happy Yet?" https://www.pewresearch.org/social-trends/2006/02/13/are-we-happy-yet/ this article talks about this more in depth and seems to be responsible for the "happiness gap" reporting.
Some 45% of all Republicans report being very happy, compared with just 30% of Democrats and 29% of independents. This finding has also been around a long time; Republicans have been happier than Democrats every year since the General Social Survey began taking its measurements in 1972. Pew surveys since 1991 also show a partisan gap on happiness; the current 16 percentage point gap is among the largest in Pew surveys, rivaled only by a 17 point gap in February 2003.
There seems to be a lot of speculation questioning why this gap exists. There are many studies and articles written about it. This takes it at face value; of course hexbears were never asked how they feel!

Would also be interesting/helpful to have like a relative ratio/weighting somehow visualized also… for instance I very much doubt Gen Z is 50-50 split between liberal conservative spectrum, even if the poll only selected an equal number of respondents for each.
Actually just looked at the article/larger chart. It does have income section and it plays out like you would imagine, but the gap between lib-conservative stays more or less constant. I don’t see an obvious display of proportion of each, but he does say the average American rates about 58-60 score so I suppose you could sort of backwards engineer from there.
The further removed from reality you are, the happier.
