Why the fuck does my browser need to send it the information that its muted or minimized?
Firefox has plugins to spoof specific tabs as always active.
Because Browsers are corporate-built garbage which are designed with corporate interests in mind, same reason they choose to send good fingerprinting canvas data instead of sending randomized garbage every new session.
I need everyone to look at what you can do with HTML5 "game engines". You want mouse poisiton? You want to know if the mouse is in on the page or not? Internet speed? Audio card codec?
If a 13 years old using the free version of construct3 can do it, capitalism can do it.
This is why browser games don’t tend to work in Librewolf. Also why I use Librewolf.
Joke’s on them, my computer doesn’t even know whether it’s muted or not.

Them bitches let ya know if you were getting a text. Loved that shit.
I had that exact model. Had a real satisfying click on the knob when you turned it on.
If it is publicly-traded, it will be enshittified. This is an ironclad, inviolable law.
I feel like what we're witnessing is just the end of meaningful innovation in the IT field, so now comes the meaningless innovation.
I don't understand how anyone can use the Internet without ublock. I have before, and am about to again, change fuel stations due to them installing those stupid ad playing pumps.
Yeah but uBlock can't or at least doesn't block Twitch ads, so that doesn't really apply here.
it does but with Twitch it's a constant battle. you can go for days or weeks on end and it'll work great then boom a few days to a week and it won't work anymore until the maintainers figure out yet another way to circumvent twitch ads.
It just got to a point for me where I just stopped using twitch. I mean the site overall and the content/streamers have just gotten a lot worse in the past few years and there's really nothing on there anymore worth watching.
Theirs a script on github to block twitch ads, works flawlessly
"Avoid minimizing or muting for a better experience" Wow, this is beyond nuts.
If i was a Twitch user, i'd dump this right now.
doesn't amazon own twitch? It's no surprise that they're enshittifying at an alarming rate.
"for a better experience" lmao
i hope the IT stock market crashes so hard
Doesn't say "your". They probably meant "shareholders'"
The phrase "For a better experience" activates me like a sleeper cell to be highly alert to whatever product it came from and assume it's trying to screw me out of my money, attention, privacy, or all three.
I dropped them like a bad habit when they first implemented the advertisements. I have never looked back.
Fuck I though this was a satirical shitpost but it's real. This seems like the last stop before that patent about yelling the company name to get back to your content...
Reminder that Sony has patented technology to force viewers into saying a certain phrase in order to continue past an advertisement. Sure, it sounds dystopian, but just look at how excited the little consumer is to enthusiastically shout the name of one of his favorite corporations!

Mentioning this without including the verification can story should be illegal

Some patents are a crime against humanity.
Oh no. Are you telling me that only Sony products will have this feature? Damn, sucks. Now what will I do?
The best thing I ever installed was UBLOCK ORIGIN,the second best thing was Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) Privacy Badger. I have not seen or been interupted by an AD in a decade
Didnt you guys watch that black mirror episode? It was exactly like this. Look away from ads and you get punished.
I don't care about any platform enough to be abused by it.
Really makes you wonder the addiction people have to watching streams that they aren't immediately leaving the service for good after seeing that.
Copy/paste of the steps i have posted in a friend group discord.
Block Twitch Ads without pausing stream Will not work in Chrome
In Ublock Origin Dashboard
- My filters (tab) --> Add twitch.tv##+js(twitch-videoad)
- Select Apply
- Settings (tab) --> Scroll to bottom of page
- Check I am an advanced user
- Select the cog to the right of the text I am an advanced user
- At the bottom of the page, locate userResourcesLocation
- Change it from unset to https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pixeltris/TwitchAdSolutions/master/vaft/vaft.user.js
- If there is already a URL: At the end of the existing URL, add a space and then the above link
For a better experience?? Actually hilarious.
Yeah their experience, not yours
Similar to "we care about your privacy" cookie popups that try to trick you into allowing them to violate your privacy.
They've blocked Twitch in Korea. I don't miss it.
Wow, so many people put streams on in the background and you can't even do that on Twitch no more.
safe to say its dead then
The more the internet progresses the more I feel like text only browsers are the way to go
Twitch soon: Drink your verification can
