A reminder that as the US continues to threaten countries around the world, fedposting is to be very much avoided (even with qualifiers like "in Minecraft") and comments containing it will be removed.

Image is of Iranian missiles in one of their many fortified underground facilities. I sincerely hope this isn't AI generated, because I'm very wary of posting footage of explosions or combat and having it later turn out to be fake.

Now that the initial shock of the war's beginning is over and there's a meaningful dataset to analyze, the takes from the many hundreds of Geopolitics Understanders are flying in, with predictably extreme variance about how long they predict this war to last and who will ultimately be the victor - and, indeed, what victory even looks like for either side. There are some who are already toasting to their side's victory, but most serious analysts seem to believe that if there isn't any negotiations, and it's just attrition to the death, then it's gonna be a long war (months or even years), and then, depending on the analyst, either the US or Iran then concedes defeat.

All of these takes are being informed by quite possibly the worst information environment yet conceived by humanity. There's the usual stuff: falsehoods, lying by omission, wild exaggerations, state propaganda, doctored videos, masses of bots boosting certain narratives, etc - but now also easily accessible AI which creates images and videos that can be quite convincing unless further inspected by tools online, and people claiming that some non-AI videos were made with AI. On top of all of that, censorship across the Middle East is now in full effect, spawning arguments about whether Iran's strikes have actually decreased in intensity (and if they have, then why), or if we just aren't seeing them as much on social media anymore. Scant footage here and there confirms that strikes are still happening, but I suspect that most of the evidence of further damage to Western facilities will either be satellite imagery or indirect indicators like rescue crews gathering in certain areas, as well as the he-said-she-said of official statements by either side. Given the West's utter lack of reliability with reporting... well, pretty much everything, but especially the Ukraine War, I know which side I'm predisposed to believe, but obviously Iran's government generally isn't going to report successful strikes by Western forces for a myriad reasons.

However, the military conflict is being gradually eclipsed in importance by the growing likelihood of a global economic crisis of massive proportions. A very large proportion of the fuel that keeps the world running is now not moving, and may remain so for weeks or months. Some are even predicting that 2026 will be the year of the biggest energy crisis in world history, dwarfing the crisis of 1973, as countries around the world begin to restrict oil and gas exports and tap into limited reserves. In such a situation, Iran clearly holds all the cards, because even if the US eventually achieves air supremacy, it is still relatively trivial to fire cheap drones en masse at tankers in the strait and at oil facilities throughout the Gulf. Assuming that Iran and the US do not negotiate, then even if the US eventually somehow wins and can reopen the strait within a few months, the global economic and political situation may be so degraded that the victory will be pyrrhic.

Mojtaba Khamenei is officially the new Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic. Everyone in the Shia World is quickly coalescing around him, but it's an uninspired choice imo. I don't think that transitioning the system in Iran towards a hereditary monarchy is the correct path forward, especially for someone without a strong public profile and that lacks the necessary Islamic credentials. I would be more comfortable with Sadiq Larijani or Alireza Arafi. He's "just" 56 years old though, that's a choice that will last for years unless the Epstein Coalition kill him. I hope he can serve the people of Iran and the Shia masses well.

Iran launched a ballistic missile from a site in Isfahan that has been bombed several times by the US and likely Israel. This just shows how long this is going to take. Just look at Hezbollah aswell that many thought were completely destroyed.

Even after several strikes on the Isfahan missile base by the US the base still operates, why?
  1. The IRGC has wheel loaders, excavators and dump trucks on standby inside these large complexes that can be 100s of meters underground if you include the mountain on top. Debris from strikes on entrences will be removed after they get the 'all clear'.
  2. From the site in question, launches from 2024 and 2025 were noted at all the places shown on pic 3.
  3. The amount of launch platforms are obviously decreasing, but that doesn't mean launches will stop. These platform are easy to make 'nothing high tech about them' and the IRGC probably has places in some of the underground facilities where such platforms can be put together (Do not quote me on this because this is speculation from me)

https://xcancel.com/mumbocombo/status/2030496443237122535     https://www.usmcu.edu/Portals/218/MCU%20Insights_16_5_Atashjameh.pdf

USMC case study that among other things discusses how Iran makes TELs in the underground missile bases

more

Iran’s ballistic missile arsenal—and specifically its TELs—rests on a foundation of low-cost design, localized production, and adaptability. These launchers are not complex, high-value assets that are dependent on foreign components or limited production lines; rather, they are largely constructed from commercial heavy truck and trailer platforms that are readily available within Iran’s domestic market. The country’s longstanding policy of self-reliance and industrial localization, developed in response to decades of sanctions, has resulted in a broad industrial capacity capable of manufacturing or modifying large numbers of such vehicles on short notice.

Therefore, assuming that targeting TELs during a conflict would permanently or even significantly diminish Iran’s missile-launch capacity is a miscalculation. While strikes can temporarily degrade operational readiness, the potential for replenishment and reconstruction of these systems is high due to their simple, cost-effective, and domestically sourced nature. Iran’s heavy truck industry, together with its experience in dual-use manufacturing and covert underground production facilities, provides the flexibility to rapidly replace or repurpose civilian vehicles into military launchers even under wartime conditions.

The events of the June 2025 conflict demonstrated this resilience. Although Israel claimed to have destroyed a substantial portion of Iran’s launchers, Iran’s underlying industrial and technical capability to rebuild such systems remained intact. Consequently, any strategic calculation that relies solely on the assumption that destroying a large number of TELs will decisively weaken Iran’s ballistic missile power is far from reality. The localized, low-cost, and easily reproducible nature of Iran’s launcher infrastructure ensures that its ballistic missile force remains a sustainable and recoverable component of its national defense posture, even in the face of sustained targeting campaigns.

it's really great how the US military has a whole class of people they pay specifically to analyze the enemy in a rational and unbiased manner and point out failings in US strategy, just to then totally ignore them and relegate them to writing in an obscure journal that is probably read by more twitter OSINTers than actual officers

When asked about the US attacking an Iranian desal plant - Trump made a reference to Iran "chopping babies’ heads off".

The Guardian

When asked about earlier reports of the US attacking a freshwater desalination plant on Qeshm Island, Trump gave an evasive answer, immediately saying that Iran “are among the most evil people ever on Earth.”

He added: “I know nothing about a desalinization plant, other than to say, if they’re complaining about a desalinization plant, we complain about the fact that they shouldn’t be chopping babies’ heads off.”

US special envoy Steve Witkoff also said the Tehran leadership did not seem “very amenable” during negotiations before the US launched strikes.

“They told me and Jared, we’re not going to give you diplomatically what you couldn’t take militarily,” said Witkoff, referring to fellow negotiator and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner. “So you know, I think they’re going to need a change of attitude.”

5:30 - Looks like a clearly Iranian attack on Israel. From Tel-Aviv to the West Bank, this is drawing a missile parabola.

Like a baton race, they've been passing between Iran, Hezbollah, and Houthis (I believe). They're striking a little more frequently than once an hour. All night. I can't imagine they are getting much sleep.

I'm imagining sirens, booms, phone alerts, etc - all night, and now the sun is starting to come up.

Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha accused Viktor Orban’s government of taking hostages and stealing money after seven Ukrainian state bank employees were detained while transporting cash through Hungary.

The move follows Orban’s threat to use "force" to reopen the Druzhba oil pipeline, which has been offline since January due to Russian strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure.

Idk if anyone posted about this, but while the US and Israel were getting beaten by Iran and the resistance. Trump was larping and trying to create a new OAS (something the US created to fuck with Cuba), a organization called Shield of the Americas.

This is their logo:

As I posted earlier, Brazil, Colombia, Uruguay, and Mexico (the social democratic left in Latin America) boycotted it, while Cuba, Venezuela, Haiti, and Nicaragua were not invited. But there are some surprises: Peru (under the leftist provisional government), Suriname (under the socdem goverment) and Guatemala also boycotted it.

The countries that actually attended were the usual bootlickers: Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay, Costa Rica, Guyana, the Dominican Republic, Panama, Trinidad and Tobago, and Honduras.

Breaking: Iran launches new wave of missile and drone attacks toward Kuwait

Kuwaiti air defenses are currently dealing with hostile missile and drone attacks that breached the country’s airspace, the Kuwaiti Army said in a statement on X.

Air raid sirens sounded and multiple loud explosions were heard as interception attempts took place overhead, Drop Site sources in Kuwait said. The incoming projectiles appear to be targeting U.S. military installations in the country, which hosts several American bases.

Missile interceptions meant to protect those bases can also send debris falling into surrounding areas, creating risks for civilians on the ground.

Iran announces new retaliatory strike as 9 million settlers advised to take shelter

Tuesday, 10 March 2026 9:15 AM [ Last Update: Tuesday, 10 March 2026 10:36 AM ]

https://www.presstv.ir/Detail/2026/03/10/765196/Iran-renews-strikes-on-occupied-territories

Iran's Army has announced a new round of retaliatory strikes against targets in the Israeli-occupied territories as Israeli media report the blaring of sirens in the city of Tel Aviv and its surroundings.

The Islamic Republic's Army issued a statement on Tuesday, announcing targeting of oil and gas refineries as well as fuel storage tanks in the occupied port of Haifa.

[...]

The situation has prompted more than nine million illegal settlers to seek shelter, they added.

isntrael

More

The reprisal, the statement noted, took place using attack drones deployed by the country's Air Force.

The retaliation came in response to "the attack on Iran’s oil depots," it read.

"The battle against the criminal United States and the child-killing Zionist regime will continue until the final victory of the front of truth over falsehood."

Meanwhile, the Israeli regime's "home front" provided the information on Tuesday, saying the latest reprisal has also featured missile launches.

It also reported that sirens had also gone off throughout illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank after "spotting" of incoming Iranian missiles.

The forces said the regime's missile systems were trying to intercept the projectiles.

Reports also pointed to going off of sirens elsewhere in the occupied territories, including the holy occupied city of al-Quds and as many as "263 other spots."

The situation has prompted more than nine million illegal settlers to seek shelter, they added.

Since late last month, the Israeli regime and the United States have begun a new bout of unprovoked aggression towards the Islamic Republic.

Iran's Armed Forces began dozens of rounds of reprisal momentarily afterwards, targeting sensitive and strategic American and Israeli targets throughout the region.

Among others, prominent targets have featured hostile objects in the city of Tel Aviv, the holy occupied city of al-Quds, and the occupied city of Be'er Sheva, which serves as the Israeli regime's technology hub, as well as the US's Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier and an American destroyer in the Indian Ocean.

IRCG advisor Jabbari - on Iran's readiness to fight the US for ten years:

Let them know. Perhaps some of them made verbal inaccuracies in their interviews within the country. But I, as a person with experience, say directly: we are ready for war with the US for at least ten years. At least ten years.

Just as we use missiles and drones, our warehouses are full of supplies, overflowing to the brim, and we use them without delay. In our research centers, young, brave and talented scientists continue production. Everything that is created immediately goes into the warehouses for storage. This shows the readiness of our armed forces.

I mean this is obviously some bravado from the Iranians, but it does demonstrate the lack of off-ramp they are providing to the Americans. There's no way out of this boondoggle the Epstein Coalition constructed for themselves. Their oil reserves are measured in weeks, not years. The tempo of their attacks cannot maintain this level of intensity on the scale of even months. You cannot dislodge the Islamic Republic from the air. The number of drones launched from Iran, since the second day of the war, has remained constant, and it's estimated they can produce 10,000 more every month (!!!). That's over 300 drones a day, every day, for as long as this thing drags on. This production is not difficult, in fact Ukraine even produces drones in apartments. You cannot bomb your way out of this. What's next? I really don't know.

Alon Mizrahi, a dissident Israeli journalist, has commented on the conflict:

We are witnessing history. Iran, to everyone’s surprise, is destroying American bases so thoroughly, on such a scale, and so decisively that the world is not ready for it.

No enemy in a conventional war has ever done anything like this to the American armed forces, as Iran is doing right now. It’s hard to believe. The military situation is so serious that censorship is blocking almost all new information about this war. If you’ve noticed, with each passing day, we’re getting less and less information.

The U.S. and Israel have already lost this war. The U.S. and Israel can kill millions of civilians in their homes. They have powerful bombs, and they can blow up buildings, but they won’t win this war. Iran’s military infrastructure and weaponry are buried deep underground all across IRAN. Neither the Americans nor, even more so, the Israelis have any chance of reaching any of it. They’re in deep shit.

🇮🇷 | Iran’s IRGC spokesman reacts to Trump’s claims about the condition of Iran’s armed forces and his claims about the end of Iran’s power:

“Trump is trying to put psychological pressure on Iran through lies and deception. But Iran is standing courageously and with strong resolve against US and Israeli aggression.

We are continuing the war with full strength, and it is Iran, who will determine when the war ends. Iran’s armed forces are ready to protect the oil and security of the region.

Trump started the war by lying to the American people, but now Iran’s responses have left him in a state of confusion and helplessness.

Iran’s armed forces are awaiting the US naval fleet in the Strait of Hormuz and the aircraft carrier Gerald Ford.

The end of the war is in Iran’s hands.

US troops reportedly seeking ways to avoid taking part in US-Israeli war on Iran

A prominent anti-war activist says a growing number of US soldiers and their families are contacting his organization to find ways to avoid participating in the US-Israeli war on Iran. Mike Prysner, executive director of the Center on Conscience and War, said in posts on X that his office has been overwhelmed with requests for guidance from service members seeking to dodge deployment. “Phone has been ringing off the hook,” he wrote, adding that many troops had not been told the mission involved combat until the last moment and were initially informed they were heading to training. Prysner said he spoke with the mother of a soldier who was allowed one final call home before turning in his phone ahead of deployment. According to the activist, the soldier told his mother his unit would be going “boots on the ground” that night and claimed his commander said the operation was meant to bring about the second coming of Christ. The account comes as concerns grow inside the United States over the expanding conflict and the possibility of deeper US involvement. Protests have erupted in major cities including Seattle, Washington DC, New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles, where demonstrators denounced the strikes on Iran and warned against a wider war. A University of Maryland poll found only 21 percent of US citizens support a war with Iran, while critics say the campaign contradicts US President Donald Trump’s 2024 pledge of “No New War.”

Iran views any US ground, air assault as opportunity to 'kill or capture' forces: Source

https://www.presstv.ir/Detail/2026/03/10/765199/iran-views-us-ground-air-assault-opportunity-kill-capture-forces-sources

Iranian security forces are fully ready to confront any potential American sabotage operations, a highly placed security source told Press TV on Tuesday.

Reacting to the claims made by some American and Israeli sources about an air assault and ground incursion into certain sensitive areas and Iran's nuclear capabilities, the source said the Iranian security forces are ready for any eventuality.

The source asserted that this “window of opportunity” will be very suitable for the Iranian forces to “either kill a number of them or take them prisoners.”

"We have been preparing ourselves for such a day for 20 years. Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, and some other places have been good exercises on the ground for facing such an enemy," he said in a conversation with Press TV.

The source further stated that the Americans would do better to pay more attention to the bitter experiences of the past and the deadly dangers that await them.

Trump administration officials have been toying with the idea of sending ground troops into Iran as the Israeli-American war against the country intensifies.

“[It would] have to be [for] a very good reason. And I would say if we ever did that, they would be so decimated that they wouldn’t be able to fight at the ground level,” US President Donald Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One on Saturday.

In a report on Sunday, Bloomberg said US President Donald Trump is considering the deployment of special forces to seize Iran's near-bomb-grade uranium stockpile.

CNN reported that such an escalation would place a significant number of troops in harm's way as part of a complex mission to secure or render safe tons of highly radioactive material.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, in remarks on Sunday, warned that Tehran is fully capable of defending itself against a potential US ground incursion.

“For the time being, we are capable enough. We have very brave soldiers, who are waiting for any enemy who enters our soil to fight with them, and to kill them and destroy them,” Araghchi told NBC in an interview.

The Israeli-American war of aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran entered its 11th day on Tuesday, amid indications that Washington and Tel Aviv are seeking an exit strategy.

Iranian armed forces have conducted 34 waves of retaliatory strikes against targets in the occupied territories and US military installations across the region, deploying advanced missiles and drones that have inflicted high costs on the enemy.

Iranian officials have vowed to continue operations until the aggressor is punished.

So much for Canada's pivot to China.

Canada and Japan sign partnership deal on defence, energy, trade

My only mistake was thinking that the liberals all of a sudden grew a spine with their recent state visit to the People's Republic. What was I thinking. They believe in nothing, and to them history is just people walking into rooms and saying things.

I doubt China's going to be as receptive to future negotiations with us after this kkkanada

The Hexbear Code of Conduct and Terms of Service apply here.

  1. Link titles: Please use informative link titles. Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.

  2. Content warnings: Posts on the newscomm and top-level replies on the newsmega should use content warnings appropriately. Please be thoughtful about wording and triggers when describing awful things in post titles.

  3. Fake news: No fake news posts ever, including April 1st. Deliberate fake news posting is a bannable offense. If you mistakenly post fake news the mod team may ask you to delete/modify the post or we may delete it ourselves.

  4. Link sources: All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include the Xcancel.com (or another Nitter instance) or at least strip out identifier information from the twitter link. 6. Low effort material: Avoid memes/jokes/shitposts in newscomm posts and top-level replies to the newsmega. This kind of content is OK in post replies and in newsmega sub-threads. We encourage the community to balance their contribution of low effort material with effort posts, links to real news/analysis, and meaningful engagement with material posted in the community.

  7. American politics: Discussion and effort posts on the (potential) material impacts of American electoral politics is welcome, but the never-ending circus of American Politics© Brought to You by Mountain Dew™ is not welcome. This refers to polling, pundit reactions, electoral horse races, rumors of who might run, etc.

  8. Electoralism: Please try to avoid struggle sessions about the value of voting/taking part in the electoral system in the West. c/electoralism is right over there.

  9. AI Slop: Don't post AI generated content. Posts about AI race/chip wars/data centers are fine.
