First glance I thought it was a piece of raw steak. 🤢

[-] UraniumBlazer@lemm.ee 14 points 9 months ago
[-] BunnyKnuckles@startrek.website 18 points 9 months ago

That appears to be a strawberry 'now and later' candy.

Now and Laters were just flat out...not good. I don't understand why people use to rave about them. It's like Starbursts but they are infinitely worse because they are made of literal rocks and taste like the shitty paper they are wrapped in.

[-] ysjet@lemmy.world 5 points 9 months ago

looks like a cherry starburst to me, which are pretty common to have the wrapper stick to them.

[-] Deebster@lemmy.ml 6 points 9 months ago

I thought it was tuna (or other sashimi) with a little fat on it. Either way, that emoji does not convey my reaction at all.

[-] Fisch@lemmy.ml 5 points 9 months ago

I thought so until I read your comment 😂

[-] Tylerdurdon@lemmy.world 4 points 9 months ago

I thought it was a dog bacon treat, and the answer is yes, wrapper and all.

...Woof

Absolutely. Used to happen all the time with Now & Laters.

[-] imPastaSyndrome@lemm.ee 20 points 9 months ago

I think that's what's pictured, right ? Because I instantly got the sour cherry with hints of paper flavor in my mouth when I looked at that,

[-] Jerb322@lemmy.world 12 points 9 months ago

Definitely a Now n' Later. So many of these in my past.

[-] wesker@lemmy.sdf.org 10 points 9 months ago

You're probably right. At first I thought it was Starburst but it does look more like a Now & Later.

[-] Kaliax@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago

Absolutely. Now & Laters, bby.

[-] Assman@sh.itjust.works 10 points 9 months ago

A now & later yonked my loose tooth out when I was eight

[-] OpenStars@startrek.website 23 points 9 months ago

The amount of effort to paper ratio is too high, and I need a snack dammit!

[-] Etterra@lemmy.world 18 points 9 months ago

Eh what's a little cellulose between snacks?

[-] nul9o9@lemmy.world 14 points 9 months ago

Last month i made myself a sandwich and accidentally left the little piece of wax paper that keeps the cheese separate in there.

I realized something was off on my second bite, opened the sandwich, and saw that i took a big ass bite off the wax paper and swallowed it.

Wait - you can peel them!?!

[-] Maggoty@lemmy.world 12 points 9 months ago

Nope. In my darkest hours getting that last bit of paper off was a welcome distraction.

[-] someguy3@lemmy.world 10 points 9 months ago

What is that? (The red thing before everyone says paper.)

[-] Pat_Riot@lemmy.today 11 points 9 months ago

Looks like a Now and Later.

[-] talentedkiwi@sh.itjust.works 2 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

Definitely a now and later. I had one a few days ago leftover from Halloween. It did this exactly. Yes, I did eat the paper because why not.

[-] deepfriedchril@lemmy.world 6 points 9 months ago

Possibly some kind of taffy sort of candy

[-] Jerb322@lemmy.world 10 points 9 months ago

It's a "Now n' Later" ! I use to kill these. I miss not caring about what I ate.

[-] x4740N@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago

Have you not heard of starburst's

Starburst

Don't know what the hell the other person is saying

The thing in op's post is squarish

[-] someguy3@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

Oh it's a perspective trick.

[-] Deebster@lemmy.ml 2 points 9 months ago

I don't often eat these nowadays, but if you remind me that they used to be called Opal Fruits they taste better.

[-] dingus@lemmy.world 2 points 9 months ago

I don't feel like I've ever had the paper get stuck to a Starburst like that. Starbursts seem to be wrapped in a waxy-coated paper that doesn't stick to the candy really.

Now and Laters are wrapped in the cheapest shit paper and it gets stuck to the damn things. Then when you finally rip all the paper off and put it in your mouth it's like trying to eat a slightly flavored rock. I never understood why all the kids loved them when I was little. Honestly a shit tier candy.

[-] pythonoob@programming.dev 10 points 9 months ago

Yes of course

[-] mrbaby@lemmy.world 9 points 9 months ago

Eating the paper is half the fun of candy dots.

[-] abbadon420@lemm.ee 9 points 9 months ago

Now and later

Well, there's another one for the stupid-candy-names-list. It can go right under "hundreds and thousands"

But what's a single one of those called?

A one? A hundredth and thousandth??

I need to know!!

Is that not what they mean when they say something's a good source of fiber?

[-] edinbruh@feddit.it 6 points 9 months ago
[-] Coreidan@lemmy.world 6 points 9 months ago

A little extra fiber for your diet

[-] BugleFingers@lemmy.world 5 points 9 months ago

Wait, there's Candy in there?? What have I been eating this whole time??

[-] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 4 points 9 months ago

Disgusting candy covered in sweet, delicious paper.

[-] weirdbeardgame@lemmy.world 5 points 9 months ago

You guys don't eat those with half the wrapper attached because the stickiness level of that candy is so powerful it practically has a gravitational force strong enough to attract the sun? ... No, just me?

That's like half the flavor right there

[-] Neato@ttrpg.network 4 points 9 months ago

Yes. It HURTS to chew paper. Don't do this.

[-] lowleveldata@programming.dev 7 points 9 months ago

Yes. Just swallow. Don't chew.

[-] XTornado@lemmy.ml 3 points 9 months ago

Sandpaper maybe... But normal paper....

[-] NucleusAdumbens@lemmy.world 4 points 9 months ago

Mmm that's the best part

[-] ohlaph@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago

Sadly, maybe.

[-] doublejay1999@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago
[-] bradons@lemmy.world 2 points 9 months ago

I like to say the first time was an accident, I'm not sure if I ever believe that.
