Since there was no internet, nobody could call or text me, which I really enjoyed.

If you go to a camp/camping and expect constant internet connection, you ain't camping

Also waow-based

Sounds like typically how a summer camp should be, like in nature away from society and shit. ofc it's most likely framed as evil since it's fucking business insider.

It’s not which is wild. Just a clear and direct account of what it was like. Honestly denounces most of the myths they normally push

Do people normally have constant internet access at summer camp? Aside from that, I don't think I've ever tried to make my phone work when traveling abroad, I just steal WiFi whenever I can get some, so this seems doubly normal.

Kid has a great time at summer camp

is-this

Is this newsworthy?

Look you're not going to get any clicks with that headline. Try this:

I Went To Communist Summer Camp, And You Won't Believe What Happened Next! (GONE WRONG) (BATBOY) (NECROMANCY)

Um....North Korea has summer camps (probably among other activities) that gets foreign visitors? Don't misunderstand, I think that's awesome, but I had no idea they had places/events like that which got international visitors. If I was the kind of guy who liked traveling I would've loved to go for a visit.

You have to enter from China or Russia, air or rail, but as far as I know you can very much just go there as long as you're not a citizen of the US or Puppet Korea.

citizen of the US

Actually apparently that won't be a problem as I've read the DPRK very specifically don't stamp your passport to avoid even non-Americans from visiting the US

ah, the sinister machinations of the enemy to sooth the souls of children with fun summer camp activities and lifelong friendships

[-] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 21 points 4 months ago

To Western media, there is nothing more evil than an unbombed child from the global South. To see those happy faces brings to them the question of "have we run out of missiles?"
