I remember what Amy Goodman said that people who are stuck in ideas that are basically insane are just 'good media consumers'. Or to paraphrase Marx the ideas of any society are in any epoch the ideas of the ruling class'
It's hard to talk to people who are calcified in an ideology created by the oligarchy, so just dance around it. Don't try to change their minds cause it won't work. Maybe just pick at the edges - point out the contradictions, how nobody has money anymore except for the 1%?

I would bet they are disillusioned as well. That's the crack to wedge open. They will want to vent, and we should let them, while also carefully (even cryptically) nudge ideas that parallel their frustrations.

I’m on the opposite side of the spectrum where I wish I had people to do things with the way everyone else does. My parents are so Old World the entire concept of Thanksgiving is foreign to them. They’ll celebrate Christmas even though they’re not Christians, but not Thanksgiving.
