Ah good, a mail service that scans your mailbox, determines if you're left leaning, and then doxes you to the Proud Boys/3 Percenters/Oath Keepers/etc. Fantastic idea.

[-] Aurenkin@sh.itjust.works 69 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Strange, according to our Xmail analytics 90% of people are right wing fascist supporters.

[-] _stranger_@lemmy.world 20 points 1 month ago

Oh good, they'll love it then because they won't have a choice.

[-] vk6flab@lemmy.radio 121 points 1 month ago

Is it just me or is Elmo now just announcing random shit and hoping that by magic it just instantly exists?

[-] DaddleDew@lemmy.world 82 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

In 2013 he said that his cars would be self-driving by 2016 and has been promising that it would finally happen "by the end of this year" or "next year" ever since.

[-] festnt@sh.itjust.works 22 points 1 month ago

same with humans on mars, the hyperloop, the tesla bot, the [whatever else he promised/will promise]

[-] Jumuta@sh.itjust.works 21 points 1 month ago

yeah elon time is well known lmao

[-] simplejack@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago

Offering email isn’t exactly like offering self-driving. Any moron can standup an email host in hours / days.

But have you considered that he's not just any moron? He's a special type that will somehow make it suck.

[-] laurelraven@lemmy.zip 9 points 1 month ago

Well, let's be honest, it's not exactly hard to make email suck. I'm sure he'll find some interesting and creative ways to make it suck worse somehow, though...

Elon is good at promising.
What he's terrible with is:

• being a family man
• being not an asshole
• how he evades taxes, leeching off others

Other than paying much smarter, more skilled, and generally better people to do stuff and take credit for their work, throwing out random shit and demanding that others make it happen is literally ALL he's done professionally since he made a Space Invaders clone as a kid. That and self-promoting.

He's the richest man in the world and also the perfect example of the fact that the ultra-rich don't become ultra-rich because they're smarter or more talented or because they just work really hard.

Being rich already; ruthless opportunism at the cost of the health, happiness, and often lives of others; and shamelessly relentless propaganda is how billionaires are made.

[-] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 month ago
[-] vk6flab@lemmy.radio 8 points 1 month ago

That's hilarious and depressing.

The author of that page gave up in May 2021. I'm guessing that they sold their Tesla shares in utter disgust at that point.

Pretty sure that it still hasn't happened today in Jan 2025, despite people making adult movies in the front of a "self-driving" Tesla. Something that seems like a life limiting choice if ever I saw one.

[-] simplejack@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago

Email would be monumentally easy to offer. Setting up an email servers is easy AF, and if he wanted to, he could chuck any number of free web clients on it.

My guess is that this is a fast and easy way to feed his LLMs with more content.

[-] marius@feddit.org 103 points 1 month ago

Gmail rival

It's called an email provider and there are already a million of those. Don't act like it's some fancy high tech stuff

[-] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 55 points 1 month ago

I think you forgot who the target market is...

[-] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 23 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Damn. Imagine an email service that makes actual emails impossible to find, but constantly bombards your inbox with the most hellish cringest spam imaginable.

He's reinventing Yahoo Mail. Real "Return To Tradition" hours. It'll be like the 90s all over again.

[-] simplejack@lemmy.world 70 points 1 month ago

Rephrased: Elon Musk would like to scan the emails of gullible conservative’s to feed his LLMs.

[-] Hossenfeffer@feddit.uk 21 points 1 month ago

"They trust me. Dumb fucks."

[-] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 69 points 1 month ago

I'd rather keep my food in Jeffrey Dahmer's fridge than my mail on Elon Musk's server.

There is zero chance that people will create filters that automatically delete anything with an xmail domain. Nope. No chance whatsoever. Anything coming from someone who uses xmail has to be worth reading, right?

[-] jaggedrobotpubes@lemmy.world 44 points 1 month ago

Makes it trivial to spam filter it.

[-] LifeLemons@lemmy.ml 42 points 1 month ago

Fuck big email providers. All my homies use proton mail 😎

We always have to remember that e-mail is a decentralized protocol. If so many people use one e-mail provider then e-mail will be less of a decentralized protocol and can be monopolised. I will hate it.

[-] Senseless@feddit.org 10 points 1 month ago

Or Tuta (formerly Tutanota) with my own domain. It's neither that hard to set up nor expensive.

Already is. I've even met a couple sites that only accepted GMail and Outlook addresses for sign-ups. And good luck making sure you don't end up in spam with something else.

Stop giving this fuckhead attention for vapor ware.

[-] Interstellar_1@lemmy.blahaj.zone 39 points 1 month ago

I liked it for the transfem joke but everyone here is just making fun of elon :(

[-] Senseless@feddit.org 16 points 1 month ago

The joke is good, don't worry. Elon on the other hand..

[-] Spezi@feddit.org 35 points 1 month ago

Is this the greek X? Because then it would be Chi-Mail (aka Shemale)

[-] Zess@lemmy.world 18 points 1 month ago

The X is pronounced "twitter."

[-] meco03211@lemmy.world 13 points 1 month ago

That's not how that's pronounced in Greek. It's just like Kai in Cobra Kai. Or the first syllable of the name Kyle.

This dude is fully losing it. I’m predicting some kind of massive meltdown very soon.

[-] Dasus@lemmy.world 56 points 1 month ago

What do you mean... "very soon"?

Isn't he actively in it? Dude is publicly calling King Charles to make the UK an autocracy lol, supporting German far-right groups, etc etc

I'm not so sure. I reckon he's using a Trump-style strategy of just constantly doing and saying outrageous rubbish in order to dominate people's attention. i.e. He just wants people to be paying attention to him, and thinking about him, and writing about him, regardless of whether it is positive or negative.

I believe he is doing this as a deliberate strategy, knowing that even if a lot of the reaction is negative, it still means that he has the attention of the world - and that people will listen to what he is saying.

[-] SkunkWorkz@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago

Also his ultimate goal is to become a trillionaire. Because he thinks we live in a simulation and that he is the main player and he wants to beat the high score. And he found out the best way to achieve that is to create a cult around him. Tesla stock only soared to those heights because of him as a person not because the company’s performance. People are buying Tesla stock like it’s a tithe to the Elon church. And to keep people in the cult of Elon he sows division. The more negativity surrounding him from outsiders the more his cult followers will dig their heels into the ground and buy more of his stocks and products.

I swear to fucking God, I will auto report every fucking email from their email server I get.

[-] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 19 points 1 month ago

Gmail is arguably the last good thing Google still has going for it.

[-] tb_@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago

Though still active, my Gmail now forwards everything to Proton Mail. It's not as nice, though very serviceable for the not-particularly-high volume of e-mail I receive.

Having to use Gmail for work, I heartily disagree lol. What a piss-poor email system

Yes, but this meme (somehow) needs an edit featuring Willam Defoe's character from Boondock Saints:

If it does not ask for a phone number, it could be a good alternative for temp email.

[-] ShareMySims@sh.itjust.works 17 points 1 month ago

There are a lot of existing alternatives to temp mail, you shouldn't need to resort to anything he has to offer..

More email providers is generally good, as long as you always have forwarding and import export options. It makes no sense for X to spend money on this, but hey, go for it.

Good luck handling the spam, lol.

[-] VaalaVasaVarde@sopuli.xyz 14 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

As musky is a free speech absolute, all spam is welcome and spammers can pay with dogecoin to feature their spam in your Inbox. It'll be great!

Melon musk, the Stevia Jobs of Tesla. Owner of X, X, X and another thing called X

I don't think I wanna be provided a service that I know edgelord in chief will fuck with when he's salty.

First thought is how bizarre.

Second thought is he's desperate for payments and/or data mining.

[-] hOrni@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago

Obviously. Because buying twitter was a great idea.

[-] iAvicenna@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago
