That's an oddly specific energy, WII

Im from south carolina so I hear stories along those lines a lot lol

[-] aqwxcvbnji@hexbear.net 16 points 1 year ago

As a non-USAian: it feels like people from a lot of the states describe their state like that.

[-] bbnh69420@hexbear.net 19 points 1 year ago

You’re basically either from the city, the suburbs, or rural areas like that

[-] cerealkiller@hexbear.net 44 points 1 year ago

Best case, he doesn't care. Worst case, he's loving It.

[-] corgiwithalaptop@hexbear.net 23 points 1 year ago

You know Elon is sitting back giggling to himself because "the epic lulz" or some 2010 4chan edge lord shit

[-] cerealkiller@hexbear.net 8 points 1 year ago

That's a quote from a shitty Shane Dawson horror movie that's almost identical lmao.

I dunno why I thought this was the fakenews comm for a second.

anyway, back in my publication development days, I read some print media journalism standards from years ago about how it was not "best practice" to use pictures of people with their mouths open (i.e. photo taken while talking), because it makes them appear comical/dumb/unprofessional/weird. basically, the mouth being frozen open is visually disturbing to us on a not-always-conscious level.

and ever since, it's been a thing I noticed in articles when an outlet is hostile to the person despite whatever "neutral pov" voice they are pretending to use in the story frame.

anyway, I like to collect closeups of those photos when they are of people who objectively suck, because they make me laugh.

the mouth open here is slight, but the uneven eyes really sells this one. solid editorial choice.

Because he already did the Nazi thing and it was so stupid? I mean the headline seems just like it's a parody of him

[-] came_apart_at_Kmart@hexbear.net 21 points 1 year ago

its probably a combo of that and the idea that he (or anyone) would be publicly furious about another "stealing" all their cool pro-nazi/pro-Hitler clout.

its like there being a nationalist rally where the crypto-fash shit weasel blows the real whistle instead of the dog whistle and the screaming community crank barges onto the stage, accusing them of stealing his cool ideas.

its like a sketch comedy bit. I probably just watch too much sketch comedy.

Nah, I think you nailed it. Kanye turning into trump-moist is funny

[-] happybadger@hexbear.net 36 points 1 year ago

[-] Yeat@hexbear.net 35 points 1 year ago

Imagining an alternate universe with a left wing Kanye generating controversy by tweeting “I LOVE MAO”

[-] operacion_ogro@hexbear.net 14 points 1 year ago

(In a threatening way, towards landlords) Yeezy season approaching

I had a thought the other day that if this guy just played his cards right, he would be where elon is now (or close by). Instead he went all-in on the nazi stuff just a bit too early

[-] Comrade_Mushroom@hexbear.net 30 points 1 year ago

Everything is just... so fucking dumb... I don't know how much more I can take... kiryu-pain

[-] FuckyWucky@hexbear.net 29 points 1 year ago

why he suddenly back to being like this? i don't follow much pop news chomsky-yes-honey but he was quite quiet for some time, no?

[-] MaoTheLawn@hexbear.net 33 points 1 year ago

he got kicked out of an award show for getting his wife to strip naked

[-] deathtoreddit@lemmygrad.ml 19 points 1 year ago

getting his wife to strip naked

Ain't no party like ~~Diddy~~ Kanye party 💀

[-] Leon_Grotsky@hexbear.net 28 points 1 year ago

Last I heard he watched 21 jump street and Jonah Hill cured his antisemitism.

Must have seen a Mel Gibson movie recently and it reset the clock.

[-] Taster_Of_Treats@hexbear.net 22 points 1 year ago

Creating buzz to sell his clothing collab with P Diddy (no I'm not joking).

Really reads like a The Onion bit.

[-] dkr567@hexbear.net 23 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

He can always inhale galaxy gas and go all i-am-adolf-hitler on live TV if he wants to create more noise.

[-] shawn1122@lemm.ee 23 points 1 year ago

Bipolar is a hell of a disease. He always has episodes like this when he's off his meds.

[-] hexbee@hexbear.net 45 points 1 year ago

Bipolar doesn't turn you into a Nazi

[-] shawn1122@lemm.ee 12 points 1 year ago

It predisposes to radicalization but I agree that it doesn't make you a Nazi specifically.

It's so weird to think of the "Imma let you finish" meme from 2009 which was just considered wacky Kanye shenanigans, could we have realized then what he'd be 15 years later? Doubly weird because the person he interrupted was Taylor Swift.

[-] turmoil@hexbear.net 26 points 1 year ago

his first "controversy" was him saying "George Bush doesn't care about Black people" after Hurricane Katrina. he really peaked out of the gate and it's been all downhill since then

[-] BelieveRevolt@hexbear.net 19 points 1 year ago

That was based and I remember all the wojak-nooo ”How dare he insult the president!” whining. At least he didn't get the Dixie Chicks treatment.

[-] btbt@hexbear.net 18 points 1 year ago

How long until he starts going around killing people in broad daylight because he wants slightly more attention

Welcome to c/news! We aim to foster a book-club type environment for discussion and critical analysis of the news. Our policy objectives are:

We ask community members to appreciate the uncertainty inherent in critical analysis of current events, the need to constantly learn, and take part in the community with humility. None of us are the One True Leftist, not even you, the reader.

Newcomm and Newsmega Rules:

The Hexbear Code of Conduct and Terms of Service apply here.

  1. Link titles: Please use informative link titles. Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.

  2. Content warnings: Posts on the newscomm and top-level replies on the newsmega should use content warnings appropriately. Please be thoughtful about wording and triggers when describing awful things in post titles.

  3. Fake news: No fake news posts ever, including April 1st. Deliberate fake news posting is a bannable offense. If you mistakenly post fake news the mod team may ask you to delete/modify the post or we may delete it ourselves.

  4. Link sources: All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include the Xcancel.com (or another Nitter instance) or at least strip out identifier information from the twitter link. There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance, such as Libredirect or archive them as you would any other reactionary source.

  5. Archive sites: We highly encourage use of non-paywalled archive sites (i.e. archive.is, web.archive.org, ghostarchive.org) so that links are widely accessible to the community and so that reactionary sources don’t derive data/ad revenue from Hexbear users. If you see a link without an archive link, please archive it yourself and add it to the thread, ask the OP to fix it, or report to mods. Including text of articles in threads is welcome.

  6. Low effort material: Avoid memes/jokes/shitposts in newscomm posts and top-level replies to the newsmega. This kind of content is OK in post replies and in newsmega sub-threads. We encourage the community to balance their contribution of low effort material with effort posts, links to real news/analysis, and meaningful engagement with material posted in the community.

  7. American politics: Discussion and effort posts on the (potential) material impacts of American electoral politics is welcome, but the never-ending circus of American Politics© Brought to You by Mountain Dew™ is not welcome. This refers to polling, pundit reactions, electoral horse races, rumors of who might run, etc.

  8. Electoralism: Please try to avoid struggle sessions about the value of voting/taking part in the electoral system in the West. c/electoralism is right over there.

  9. AI Slop: Don't post AI generated content. Posts about AI race/chip wars/data centers are fine.
