Kings 👎 White slave-owning genocidal colonist oligarch 👍

I guess the US should be spending even more on pampering their little baby war criminals?

Yes, the US military, famous for opposing monarchies. Also gonna call you out on that date.

More colonist cosplay 🤮

What fighting state violence really looks like

It's not fascism if we pinkwash it enough.

A lot of interesting coordination and favorable media coverage here. Almost everyone is wearing solid red/white/blue colored clothing. Totally organic protest against state violence.

Totally normal looking protest in Paris, not just some US NGO guys on lunch break showing solidarity.

I watched the Andor Season 1 Recap in anticipation of my season 2 watch (I'm only on episode 3 so no spoilers yet) and I've felt more hope than I have in a bit. Maybe it makes me a lib, but the lines from the manifesto especially felt poignant at this point in time.

The combination of those lines about thousands are joining battalions without realizing it, and the protests and LA fight back against ICE, idk, it's helped offset some doomer I've felt lately. I can't wait to finish this show.

The advent of cheap and accessible one-off PCB production has been one of the pivotal moments for electronic experimenters during the last couple of decades. Perhaps a few still etch their own boards, but many hobbiest were happy to put away their ferric chloride. There’s another way to make PCBs, though, which is to mill them. [Tom Nixon] has made a small CNC mill for that purpose, and it’s rather beautiful.

In operation it’s a conventional XYZ mechanism, with a belt drive for the X and Y and a lead screw for the Z axis. The frame is made from aluminium extrusion, and the incidental parts such as the belt tensioners are 3D printed. The write-up is very comprehensive, and takes the reader through all the stages of construction. The brains of the outfit is a Creality 3D printer controller, but he acknowledges that it’s not the best for the job.

It’s certainly not the first PCB router we’ve seen, but it may be one of the nicer ones. If you make a PCB this way, you might like to give it professional-looking solder mask with a laser.

As such blaming Amerikkkan fascist brainworms on "poor education" is really just apologia for Amerikkkan complicity in oppressive systems that benefit them.

this is totally not my typical type of game. i'm not a shooter guy, but this is so addictive. there are probably 40 different types of vehicles. massive slow walkers, hover tanks, flying crafts, and small vehicles mini mechs. like probably a dozen of each with their own stats for movement, turning, visibility, strength, etc. they each have 2 weapon slots, and there are probably 50 different types of weapons, plus special abilities. so you can seriously bespoke your guy to fit your play strategy. are you a little run and gun creep ninja? do you want to long bomb mortars and then flee the scene when the patroling units come to investigate? or do you like to appear massive on the horizon, move slow and straight toward your objective and obliterate everything that does not run from your judgement?

also, the environment is top notch. it's all destructable. the world is grim vision of the future where capitalism has gripped the galaxy, so you see corporate mega farms, lonely highways, core district suburban mcmansion neighborhoods, decayed industrial worlds, neon cities of endless distraction, massive slums, spaceports, extractive utilicorridors. lots of detail. and your vehicle's weapons can fire right through some wretched mansion to obliterate the units behind it, chewing it to bits. you can also crash through just about anything. or make noise and get a bunch of units to chase you through a gas station or other explosive depot and then shoot it up after you're outside of the blast radius.

the music is really strong too... heavy, driving synthwave beats really take you there and get stuck in your head.

the story campaign of the build world is interesting and ultimately the game is about being a mercenary pilot during a politically unstable time, doing missions for whoever is paying and making phat stacks to buy more vehicles, buying weapons / testing configurations, and accessing more of the in-game lore.

i find myself trying different missions (tons to chose from) and making money, then i get rolled a few times and quit. only to come back like 30 minutes later because i thought of an idea for a vehicle/loadout combo.

anyway, for under $10, it's a no brainer. and yes, i do feel bad when innocent civilians get chewed up as collateral damage, but my pay isn't docked. basically, all carnage increases the pay, so there are some twisted incentives baked in. it's like john carpenter's mech warrior.

For example, iOS has these features:

  • iCloud backup restore or peer-to-peer transfer, very early in the device setup process
  • Two ways for things to be stored in iCloud, each with a corresponding list of per-app (not per-folder) toggle switches in iCloud Settings
    • "Saved to iCloud" normal syncing
      • Requires apps to use the right APIs and to handle conflicting changes
      • Allows same data to be read and modified by multiple devices
    • iCloud backup
      • Available for all apps
      • Separate backup per device
      • Only downloaded when setting up a new device
      • In app sandboxes, only excludes /tmp and /Library/Caches by default
      • Allows apps to set isExcludedFromBackup attribute for specific files (useful for things that are easy to recreate via download but are expected by the user to not be automatically deleted)
      • Includes system configuration such as home screen layout
      • Backs up a list of installed apps without backing up their executables and assets
  • Synced list of previously installed apps, not separate per-device
