Suffering from success

[-] djsoren19@lemmy.blahaj.zone 224 points 1 week ago

OP is already living with their partner and making the kid breakfast? and they're worrying about their relationship getting too serious?

[-] A_Union_of_Kobolds@lemmy.world 91 points 1 week ago

They might not be living there, just staying over.

Which is like, tomato tomato, but it's a distinction

[-] djsoren19@lemmy.blahaj.zone 64 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

The weird part about them staying over is that their partner isn't also home, since they have to text them this information. That makes me think the idea is they're living together. Also in either case it implies that OP is taking care of the kid, since I don't think you should just leave an eight yr old home alone.

[-] Anne@lemmy.world 27 points 1 week ago

Possibly she texted him so that the kid wouldn't overhear them talking about his gift. My daughter's Dad and I used to do that all the time, especially for private talks that we thought might hurt her feelings.

If I was never allowed to be home alone at 8 I feel like I'd have been deprived of some essential freedom. I'm pretty sure I had keys and a bike at that age.

America's extremely risk averse attitude is such a large and ugly stain on the banner of freedom it waves so vigorously.

You think it's weird to leave a person you've been dating for a year and a half alone in your house?

[-] AFKBRBChocolate@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

My family texts each other all the time when we're in the same house, just too lazy to go upstairs or whatever.

Sounds like it isn't real

[-] Akasazh@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

Are you suggesting anybody would do that on the internet, lie? On an imageboard no less?

Preposterous!

[-] latenightnoir@lemmy.blahaj.zone 132 points 1 week ago

Too late, kid's adopted her.

Kids are like cats, everyone knows that. Once they get you, they got you.

[-] abbadon420@lemm.ee 22 points 1 week ago

Fact! That's why incels won't date single mom's. They're affraid of getting attached.

[-] A_Union_of_Kobolds@lemmy.world 78 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

No, incels are involuntary celibate. They won't date single moms because single moms won't touch em.

You're thinking of manosphere chuds.

[-] abbadon420@lemm.ee 13 points 1 week ago

You seem to know this subject better than I do, so I believe you. I've been in a happy relationship for almost 20 years. So this entire phenomenon couldn't be further removed from my reality..

[-] Asafum@feddit.nl 35 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Basically incels are a specific thing, involuntarily celibate, but also what really defines them as incels is their misogyny stemming from a belief that women are to blame for their being celibate and not the fact that they themselves are the issue.

So like I've been celibate for about 4 years now, but I know I'm human trash not women, so I don't believe I'm considered an incel.

Not that you asked lol

Don't sell yourself short! I don't know you, you could be a racoon for all I know, but most people are at least a little trash, which means you're probably just as good as most people. Better, even, based on your willingness to consider your own responsibility for your life.

[-] Asafum@feddit.nl 18 points 1 week ago

you could be a racoon for all I know

Shit, they're on to me!

:P

I’ve now tagged you as three raccoons in a trench coat. And honestly I think you’re doing a great job at it.

If you're dating for a year and a half and you don't know if it's serious, it ain't.

However, if your partner's kid is going giving you a mom/dad day anything, the kid at least is taking it seriously, so you damn well better figure it out fast

[-] eestileib@lemmy.blahaj.zone 98 points 1 week ago

Yeah if you're cooking breakfast for an 8 year old in that kid's house on Mother's Day, congrats you nominated yourself.

[-] 60d@lemmy.ca 49 points 1 week ago

dating a dood for a year and a half

kinda serious?

No shit, Enola Holmes

[-] bjoern_tantau@swg-empire.de 42 points 1 week ago

Fake: she's not really the mother (yet)

Gay: the flowers hopefully made her happy

[-] pickman_model@sh.itjust.works 38 points 1 week ago

She got accepted into the family. That's awesome! She should pat herself in the back.

[-] Texas_Hangover@sh.itjust.works -3 points 1 week ago

With her cock?

[-] Estiar@sh.itjust.works 29 points 1 week ago

That's adorable! Even if she didn't intend for it, she's a mother now. I don't know if she's quite realized it yet.

[-] Taalnazi@lemmy.world 21 points 1 week ago
[-] magnetosphere@fedia.io 20 points 1 week ago

It’s cute. The kid needs a mother figure in his life. OOP should just relax and take the compliment.

[-] pigup@lemmy.world 19 points 1 week ago

🥺 how could something so fake be so gay? 😭

[-] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 19 points 1 week ago

Take the hug, take the win, Mom.

Rare wholesome greentext

[-] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 14 points 1 week ago

Being a step mother still is being a mother. Who cares if the mother is trans, she apparently takes good enough care of the kid for him to want to give her a flower, that's all that matters

[-] caboose2006@lemm.ee 6 points 1 week ago

Yep, being a mom is more than just contributing the egg. It's a whole litany of other actions every day.

[-] Tungsten5@lemm.ee 13 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

So wholesome, then:

But OP here did not give up:

[-] jia_tan@lemmy.blahaj.zone 12 points 1 week ago

This is the most wholesome thing I’ve seen on lemmy this week. And it’s a greentext!

[-] atro_city@fedia.io 11 points 1 week ago

Trans girl being accepted as woman. That's insulting. She's a girl!

[-] SoftestSapphic@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago

This greentext always makes me smile :3
