There's a post going around lib spheres with a text image saying like "If anyone is violent while you're protesting peacefully, everyone sit down and go silent, it will be a powerful image and will isolate the violent agitators." Great idea, let's just put our heads exactly where the police are aiming already and stay still. At least most comments seem to be deriding anyone that posts it, like how can anyone at this point believe they won't just shoot you anyway.

Lib: "It's like if a black bear is about to attack you - play dead that way—"

Leftist: "No. That's wrong. If a black bear charges and attacks you - fight back with everything you have. Do not play dead. Anyway - who cares. This is downtown LA and those are cops not bears. Still - maybe there's a lesson to be learned here."

Lib: "You interrupted me. You are rude and I don't like you."

Leftist: "Okay, okay. Carry on."

Debater: "...and I conclude."

Judge: "Brilliant! 10/10! 10/10! Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!"

If your main (and maybe only) goal is winning arguments - you can always win easily because you can be your own debate judge.

I like graphic for summarizing their points and the emote potential

Ditch the phone. Inverted riot shield helps with acoustic and chemical attacks.

[-] peeonyou@hexbear.net 17 points 3 weeks ago

seriously.. bringing a phone at a minimum tells authorities when and where you are/were but likely if you've got a smart phone of any sort they can probably just turn your mic and camera on as well as intercept/record any texts and calls

[-] WizardOfLoneliness@hexbear.net 16 points 3 weeks ago

Anyone who wants a phone should just get a burner with a dedicated sim and keep the battery and sim out until it's needed (huh i wonder why so many phones have integrated batteries these days)

If there's one thing that CIA funded protest in Hong Kong showed, the unserious pro-colonial rule side seemed to have prepared well from this image I found years ago.

Honestly im surprised the lasers too blind cops isn't more of a thing esp. with how easy it would be to permanently blind them and how hard it would be for them to figure out who shined a fucking laser from up to a mile away

[-] sourquincelog@hexbear.net 19 points 3 weeks ago

In 2020, green lasers were used regularly and Chad Wolf lied that multiple officers were permanently blinded by them (they weren't). They used the lasers as an excuse to use more repressive crowd control

[-] Kaputnik@hexbear.net 15 points 3 weeks ago

American cops are so trigger happy if they see a red dot they'll assume it's from a sight and might just start shooting at anything nearby

[-] WizardOfLoneliness@hexbear.net 10 points 3 weeks ago

The thing is im pretty sure those high powered lasers they wouldn't see the source and then they wouldn't see anything ever again

[-] Kaputnik@hexbear.net 15 points 3 weeks ago

IR lasers can cause eye damage without triggering a blink reflex think-about-it

[-] WizardOfLoneliness@hexbear.net 14 points 3 weeks ago

They're actually kinda scary ngl

I posted a video the other night i saw of some nerd on youtube who built some stupid powerful laser, already enough to set records, then put an optical lens on it to focus it and long story short it could ignite (burning, not melting) a penny in seconds

Not only that, but it's a repost:

Editor’s Note (6/11/25): We are republishing this piece from 2020 in light of the recent protests against immigration raids in Los Angeles.

the youtube "Tech Ingredients" guy gives libertarian, but they have some recent-ish anti-small drone stuff and some older anti-LRAD experiments from a few years ago that are probably relevant
