It should also be noted that at the time it was said, the US had invaded at least one country that had a McDonald's (Granada or Panama)

It’s not war if you don’t declare. 🧠

If it's not under the wikipedia entry for wars the US has been in, it's not a war

The only thing Demolition Man had wrong was the restaurant. In the future its not Yum Brands, its the Golden Arches.

[-] SaniFlush@hexbear.net 18 points 1 year ago

Demolition Man also thought random violence in the USA would be unthinkable, instead of the default reaction to a girl saying no to you.

[-] D3FNC@hexbear.net 5 points 1 year ago

Nah that's just propaganda whitewashing history, there has never been anything more American than random extreme episodes of violence

[-] wtypstanaccount04@hexbear.net 5 points 1 year ago

Demolition Man was a right-wing movie and it was awful.

At least Bladerunner had androids, we're all gonna die in the McMissile crisis and the best our world can produce is pizza delivery robots (actually controlled via gig economy labour).

This is just two franchises so it’s not that weird. But as someone who’s worked in the corporate world, it’s actually kinda funny how different branches of the same company can get into it. I once was in a discussion with the folks in charge of one business unit to see if they had any legal way to sue another unit within the same corporation.
