So I’m browsing my phone and I see Kyle Rittenhouse, remember that shithead? He’s famous because he killed someone. The right tried to turn him into a celebrity but he was so helpless he couldn’t hack it. He couldn’t handle being on a leash for thousands of dollars. I’d embarrass myself on a street corner frequented exclusively by people I have a crush on for the kind of money this murderer threw away.

Meanwhile Charlie Kirk was a genius by comparison. A bright rising star. Still a fucking racist dumbass but capable of wearing a suit and putting on an act. Capable of speaking while holding eye contact. Capable of subtly decreasing the circumference of his face. Remember the bar is “not a remorseless murderer” so clearing it isn’t impressive but I will give Charlie credit where it’s due: he didn’t kill anyone.

And I think about this. How the right wing is so destructive it can’t help but be self destructive. It produces white male gunmen and here’s 2 case examples from within their own house: Charlie gets killed by the kind of person they defended in Kyle. Enshitification in action. What a bummer. What a letdown. Poor Charlie couldn’t even find a partner who would mourn his passing. Meanwhile Kyle, the guy they all wish they could forget is still around.

It’s a brutal fate. shrug-outta-hecks. Couldn’t have happened to a more deserving guy.

I'm never sure how to parse this. Like I will agree he didn't kill anyone with his own hands but it seems really unlikely he doesn't share culpability for hate crimes.

[-] godlessworm@hexbear.net 51 points 2 days ago

yeah he never personally killed anyone but im sure if we went and looked at the watch history of all these right wing shooters we’ve had in the last 10yrs then charlie kirk would be in a lot of them. if its not kirk himself its someone adjacent saying the exact same shit. kirk and people like him are 100% responsible for those murders

[-] Homer_Simpson@hexbear.net 46 points 2 days ago

He shares culpability in his own murder for starters.

counting or not counting gang violence?

[-] huf@hexbear.net 28 points 2 days ago

he killed thousands a little bit.

Its called Stochastic Terrorism. He was a stochastic terrorist. That's how I would phrase it. Bill O'Riley never killed anyone, but he is a stochastic terrorist who inspired someone to kill Gorge Tiller:

Fox News Channel commentator Bill O'Reilly has also been accused of demonizing Tiller.[71] O'Reilly was found to have mentioned Tiller by name on The O'Reilly Factor, his show on the Fox News Channel, 42 separate times prior to Tiller's death, referring to him specifically as a "baby killer" in 24 instances.[72] O'Reilly said he was not responsible for Tiller's death and defended his campaign against Tiller, saying:

When I heard about Tiller's murder, I knew pro-abortion zealots and Fox News haters would attempt to blame us for the crime, and that's exactly what has happened. [...] Every single thing we said about Tiller was true, and my analysis was based on those facts. [...] Now, it's clear that the far left is exploiting — exploiting — the death of the doctor. Those vicious individuals want to stifle any criticism of people like Tiller. That — and hating Fox News — is the real agenda here.

Charlie Kirk didn't kill anyone in the same way that Julius Streicher didn't kill anyone (post-WW1)

It was simply a case of community self-defense. Nothing to regret.

Every day the same doesn't happen to Rittenhouse is a failure to protect against his own next hate crime. Of course, for legal reasons that failure must continue, because killing fascists is illegal under fascism unless you are their boss. Don't do illegal stuff, y'hear?

the best thing about rittenhouse is how they have to pretend he’s based and alpha because now they’re too deep in to admit he’s a chinless little weirdo with zero rizz

[-] erik@hexbear.net 32 points 2 days ago

He is also just one of the dumber people to rise to the position he did. Like, unable to complete basic literacy tests stupid. You realize why he failed to be an influencer quickly when you realize just how incredibly stupid he is even compared to the low bar that is conservative influencer level intelligence.

[-] LeeeroooyJeeenkiiins@hexbear.net 28 points 2 days ago

Iirc the handlers he was paying out of the millions he got for free said something about how stupid he was

[-] UmbraVivi@hexbear.net 29 points 2 days ago

Rittenhouse is a pudgy little dweeb who's famous for sobbing in court. Genuinely embarrassing person.

[-] unmagical@lemmy.ml 33 points 2 days ago

It was a profound bummer. He should have survived the initial attack and been in suffering agony that left him bed ridden and unable to espouse his horrible ideas but fully aware his state is a direct consequence of his actions--surviving just long enough to see his legacy fade before finally dying.

[-] CloutAtlas@hexbear.net 25 points 2 days ago

Revive Charlie Kirk and give him locked-in syndrome for 60 years

[-] booty@hexbear.net 19 points 2 days ago

Congratulations, you've finally found my line. I wouldn't do this to Charlie Kirk. I wouldn't even do this to Hitler. I winced just reading this comment lmao

[-] purpleworm@hexbear.net 22 points 2 days ago

Punitive justice is just masturbatory sadism, but sometimes it takes someone taking it to its logical extreme to make it obvious because we live in a society where that particular genre of sadism is lionized.

[-] UmbraVivi@hexbear.net 18 points 2 days ago

How about a week

[-] CloutAtlas@hexbear.net 6 points 1 day ago

This was fresh in my mind because I watched the Xmas episode of Black Mirror recently with a similar plot device as what's basically locked-in syndrome.

[-] Meh@hexbear.net 11 points 2 days ago

The fuck. Id totally do that to hitler

[-] sharkfucker420@lemmy.ml 7 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Hitler is probably one of the few people I'd be okay with this happening to. I couldn't do this to someone and live with it but like if it happened to Hitler I'd probably just shrug. Maybe say he had it coming idk

Moments after the news, I was speaking with my coworker and I told her my only regret is that he died so quickly, lost consciousness almost immediately, that he had no time to understand what his actions brought about. No ability to recognize the evil he furthered in this world. He died fully confident in every one of his choices and only had a minor "oh fuck" moment before everything went black

America needs it's own Fushun War Criminals' Prison. It is both the most effective and the most humane solution.

[-] WhatDoYouMeanPodcast@hexbear.net 35 points 2 days ago

When I think of brutality in his passing, I think of his statements regarding people needing to be sacrificed for the second amendment. It's a sort of poetic justice - a divine play where the philosophy gets tested by reality. Are you sure this is how it should be? Even if precious things get taken away from you?

If you take Nazism and Zionism as examples, you can come to see that ideology can be violent and espousing it can lead to death. So, to that end, when I hear people plead about the normal type of guy he is after being killed by his own ideology, it almost reads to me like an excuse for the terror. If it's the cost of doing business when it's a school, then it's the cost of doing business when it's shrinkface

[-] MayoPete@hexbear.net 18 points 2 days ago

These rightoids are learning the lesson most of us learned in school: Talk shit, get hit

[-] moss_icon@hexbear.net 29 points 2 days ago

Memes aside for a moment, I prefer rehabilitation when possible but I didn’t exactly feel bad for him. This is the same guy who pretty much said that school shootings were a necessary evil for the second amendment, that he didn’t trust black pilots, and spread the far right cultural Marxism theory.

Erika couldn’t even go a few months pretending to give a fuck about Charlie. Just goes to show how much the right lack empathy.

[-] Le_Wokisme@hexbear.net 24 points 2 days ago

you can't rehabilitate an active threat

[-] LENINSGHOSTFACEKILLA@hexbear.net 29 points 2 days ago

you do not, in fact, have to hand it to charlie kirk of all people. bad bit

I'm not about it say Robinson was a great guy or anything, but I don't think his motive for the shooting was comparable. Rittenhouse demonstrably wanted to commit hate crimes and slaughter people because he's a sicko, while Robinson seemed to believe he was protecting his partner from hate crimes/reactionary legislation.

[-] LeeeroooyJeeenkiiins@hexbear.net 25 points 2 days ago

It is a bummer it didn't happen sooner

[-] TheBroodian@hexbear.net 7 points 2 days ago

And doesn't happen to more of them
