10 billion costumes in 9 days?
How about 3 costumes plus one layover stop to the I.S.S to pickup their one ape suite for the Artemis crew to recreate this moment...

[-] Awesomo85@sh.itjust.works 2 points 15 hours ago

YOU MANIAC!!!

20 years ago: AI will change the world for the better!

now: LOL look at this meme i made with AI

[-] JoMiran@lemmy.ml 54 points 1 day ago

Cyberpunk authors had AI pegged as a negative all the way back in the 80's.

[-] EyIchFragDochNur@lemmy.world 19 points 1 day ago

The 80s ended 35 years ago. They didn't have no Data or wall-e and no good Terminator who was protecting John Connor

[-] grue@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

They had Data in the '80s. Star Trek TNG started in 1987.

Of course, they also had Lore. (And Moriarty, for that matter.)

What exactly makes this stand out as AI to you, and not just cosplay?

I can't really find any of the telltale signs of AI. The books on the shelf all look fine, the mirror on the left edge looks perfect and I can't find anything immediately noticeable on the costume.

If this is AI, I think it's probably just the face, maybe the whole person, but certainly not the whole picture. But maybe I missed something, please let me know.

[-] Soapbox@lemmy.zip 19 points 1 day ago* (last edited 6 hours ago)

First thing that stands out is the lighting. He appears to be lit by a studio soft box but the rest of the room isn't. A lot of AI "photos" do this.

Second is the texture of the face has a plasticky appearance of AI smoothing. His eyes are also blurry in a way that doesn't make sense with the wide depth of field in the image.

It is otherwise pretty convincing. Its possible that its simply been run through some sort of AI enhancement filter, rather than being completely generated. Possibly an original selfie that someone prompted to generate an ape costume onto.

[-] errer@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago

Probably just a photo edit with Gemini. Leaves the background intact, just edits the person. Much harder to find problems with these.

[-] VicksVaporBBQrub@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 day ago* (last edited 19 hours ago)

Logic rule - apply logic to anything in the picture.
My best ai telltale is doing a maximum zoom-in on anything. Ai dedicates all its processing power on the front subject (the prompted thing) and little to everything else... it can do individual hairs\face wrinkles\teeth\fingers\fingernails... but I cannot definitively identify any object that's going on on the background shelves.

It's 2026, low resolution or bad jpeg compression artifacts at any zoomed level isn't necessary, or is unnecessarily blurred.

[-] mech@feddit.org 6 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Look at the shadows of the right curtain, the bookshelf, and the bottles on top of the bookshelf.
And tell me where the lights are.

Also, name all objects on the top 3 bookshelves, and what lays on top of the magazines on the table.
And who the fuck has a full size mirror in the living room to watch themselves while they sit on their couch?

[-] Thunderbird4@lemmy.world 2 points 15 hours ago

The shadows look fine to me. There’s a floor lamp visible at the right edge. The curtains are close to, and higher than that floor lamp, so the shadow goes up the wall and away from the lamp. The bookcase is further away and close to the same height as the lamp, so the softer shadow goes up only slightly. The “bottles” on top are close to the wall and therefore cast a soft shadow to the back wall from whatever unseen light source is lighting the subject from the front.

Totally agree about the identity of the objects on the shelves and the existence/placement of the mirror, though. It probably is AI, but I’m actually more impressed by the consistency of the shadows.

Oh, I didn’t make it, I’m too lazy for that. I stole it off of Facebook.

[-] U7826391786239@piefed.zip 12 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

sorry, i didn't mean to imply that you "made" it, i only meant to shit on AI posts in general

[-] Nusm@peachpie.theatl.social 5 points 1 day ago

Ahh, gotcha. (I just thought the joke was funny.)

[-] U7826391786239@piefed.zip 5 points 1 day ago

yes, it's funny

[-] venusaur@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

Risky move posting this on Lemmy. “Slop” posts incoming.

[-] Nusm@peachpie.theatl.social 6 points 1 day ago

I didn’t really look closely at the pic, I just thought the joke was funny. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Well that's good, then. Stealing art is only bad when AI does it.

[-] massive_bereavement@fedia.io 6 points 1 day ago

Oh my got I was wrong! I was on earth all along..

[-] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 day ago

Of course you can!

[-] wizardbeard@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 day ago
[-] AnchoriteMagus@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

I knew exactly what it would be. Watched the whole thing anyway.

[-] Vespair@lemmy.zip 10 points 1 day ago

There are 2.5 million ants per human.

This ain't the Planet of the Apes, it ain't even the Planet of the Humans; we live on the Planet of the Ants.

[-] gmtom@lemmy.world 2 points 19 hours ago

The humble bacteria:

@Vespair

Wait'll you see how many bacteria there are.

@Nusm

[-] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

what do you mean see they are tiny.

[-] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

i'm on team fungus, team anteater and team crab anyways

OMG DUDES WE SHOULD ALL GET CRAB COSTUMES AND TELL THEM WE CARCINIZED WHILE THEY WERE GONE they missed the rapture or something

dammit stop talking to yourself who did you mean to send this to anyways

[-] Vespair@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Incomprehensibly more.

I was just trying to keep to complex multi-celled and non-microbial life for the sake of familiarity 😁

[-] MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip 0 points 19 hours ago

Planet of the Apes is a film. Or two.

[-] WhiskyTangoFoxtrot@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago

Really, all they'd have to do is dress everyone in the recovery ship up to get a decent reaction.

[-] VicksVaporBBQrub@sh.itjust.works 1 points 16 hours ago

A stop by the I.S.S to pickup their one ape suite would help that.

[-] zerobot@lemmy.wtf 7 points 1 day ago

plot twist, when they arrive, they are apes as well - initially we think they are in on the joke, until they proceed eating peoples faces and going complete apeshit

[-] diffaldo@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 day ago
[-] zerobot@lemmy.wtf 2 points 1 day ago

leave society, return a monkey

[-] spizzat2@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 day ago

until they proceed eating peoples faces and going complete apeshit

Gotta commit to the bit!

[-] BillyClark@piefed.social 9 points 1 day ago

You only need disguises for the people who they meet when they return.

[-] LastYearsIrritant@sopuli.xyz 7 points 1 day ago

Can't chance them accidentally running into someone unexpected.

[-] Tikiporch@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

Good point. What if they pass another rocket during reentry and look through their windows?

[-] Kolanaki@pawb.social 7 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

WW3 happens

Artemis 2 returns

"You Maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to hell!"

[-] chicken@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 day ago

I know it’s AI, but holy god what an ugly rug couch combo

[-] U7826391786239@piefed.zip 4 points 1 day ago

the AI assumed that a planet of the apes fan would naturally also have an excessive number of framed photos and doilies on their end tables. because that's how old people do

Flash mob lol

[-] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

It really would be hilarious if the ground crew met them like that!

"Uh, guys, we got something to tell you. While you were incommunicado on the Dark Side of the Moon..."
