Before this German guy from HQ came to the workshop, everyone said that I should be careful, follow the procedure and just not annoy him generally because he's very serious and has scolded people before

But now that I've met him, he seems alright, let me try out tools that I've never had the chance to use before, gave me tips and shortcuts I can take when repairing.

I think he's just serious with the staff and I'm an apprentice, technically I'm learning so I can get away with a lot of things.

Cool guy, a huge old Mercedes nerd too.

Sounds like the old guard that's very serious about being professional 🤔

[-] OldManGenghis 1 points 1 year ago

I guess he's also one of the few remaining Body and Paint specialist in the world, he was surprised to learn I'm the first Malaysian batch for the role.

Working for Mercedes at one of their service centers? I'm a bit of a nerd for models before year 2000 =P

[-] OldManGenghis 2 points 1 year ago

Just an apprenticeship but a huge fan of the W126 would love to own a C126 someday.

Good choice, assuming there's a road tax exemption for them. The 500SE is a boat.

Political dust is settling down, how are you people feel about it?

[-] Naomikho 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Politics cannot make me feel anything anymore. My spirit has long given up.

I will do my part and vote but I won't hope for anything.

Still working my way towards a job/career that can grant me the mobility to leave this country.

[-] Annoyed_Crabby 1 points 1 year ago

Haiz... Feel the same too, seeing the radical rising worries me a huge lot.

[-] munkkey 1 points 1 year ago

Life goes on as usual.

Also a constant reminder that our country (esp Peninsula) is quite evenly split among the two major coalitions. Have an open mind about the political views of "the other side".

I refused to believe Sanusi gets the second term.

Time feels so slow and so fast at the same time :(

[-] Naomikho 3 points 1 year ago

Time is fast when we want it to be slow, and it's slow when we want it to be fast.

I noticed a lot of mechanic doesn't wear belt and their pant basically almost falling down. 🤔

[-] weecious 3 points 1 year ago

Isn't loose clothing a work hazard?

[-] Annoyed_Crabby 1 points 1 year ago

My brother didn't wear belt and also wear slipper to work, so...

[-] weecious 2 points 1 year ago

.....OSHA would like a word.

Cracks are a common sight in these parts.

Don't know about other workshops but in MB you're not allowed due risk of scratching customer's cars

[-] Annoyed_Crabby 2 points 1 year ago

Wouldn't have expect any less than that from MB, i think all dealership would have that rule.

There's also mechanic belt that doesn't have any metallic part, ought to buy that myself, and then reenhance my tool pouch into non-scratching one.

just picked up TikTok again, originally switched from TikTok to Reels cause TikTok is too good and taking too much of my time.

now Reels is taking too much of my time and the stuff it's full of reposted, recycled, low quality shit making me dumber by the day.

Meanwhile, in Youtube Short:

You can see that when the truck stay on this lane, and it's intentional. As the truck approaching the turn, it make a turn, and pass through it without incident.

Made a new community: !my_history@monyet.cc.

I dedicated it for the telling of obscure lesser-known local histories that is not on "mainstream" history i.e. the textbooks.

I'm not a historian, not by a long shot, but it doesn't take one to appreciate echoes of our past. Echoes that we need to repeat else it'd disappear forever.

As a side note: I create communities when I found none for which I wanted to share stuff I'm interested in at that moment. I may not be that qualified to curate the subject matter. I'm basically parking on it until smarter people come forth and take charge.

The exceptions to these are !restoran_vargina@monyet.cc and !rukbut_dev@monyet.cc. 😂

[-] Annoyed_Crabby 1 points 1 year ago

Ooo, nice, i think it's a net win if there's some place to post stuff. Though i'm not a historian too so it would be hard for me to contribute 🙈

There's loads of things hidden away in our everyday lives. The ruins that used to be opulent palaces. The abandoned keramat shrines. Royalty buried in a small mausoleum in a little parish cemetery by the roadside. The weirdly straight kampung roads that used to be railway beds. The old Victoria Institution building where the principal used to shoot crocodiles basking on the river banks.

And, best of all, the old photos of places that are radically different today. EDIT: this could be spun off into a different community, and I suggest we do. But that's for later.

The history on Mahathir from his Iskandar Kutty root is worth to mention that it didn't get on mainsteam history enough.

Iskandar Kutty is such a shame for him to deny his past and he thinks it brought shame to himself, a fact that he couldn't alter in universe, no matter which timeline he intends to put himself in, he will always be a Tamil.
