Well, really its land/real estate developers but its a huge issue in the Great Lakes area too where basically every inch of land near a coastline is snapped up and clear cut for mcmansion building, which destroys the trees and vegetation that held these cliffs together.

Seen dozens of houses slide down cliffs and i would cheer if not for the environmental destruction they caused in the first place
