People keep talking about alligators like Greenland sharks don't live for centuries

At this point, the guy is in what amounts to a very weird and public self harm routine that he gets paid for. None of his treatments will produce any data of scientific value when he runs them all at once without doing any sort of controls. And if one of his treatments manages to miraculously increase his lifespan, he'll never even know because it'll almost certainly be cancelled out by all the other pseudo scientific shit he's doing to himself.

This guy looks like if he would eat a burger he would perish.

Bring back "day 56 of willing myself into a lizard" posting

[-] Evilphd666@hexbear.net 8 points 2 hours ago

Litterally cold blooded lizard people.

no way he thinks that every alligator is 150,000,000 yrs old ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ

[-] FourteenEyes@hexbear.net 47 points 4 hours ago

Once again reminded of the biohacker tech guy who took ketamine and drowned in a sensory deprivation tank

[-] Posadas@hexbear.net 30 points 4 hours ago

Talk about depriving yourself of sensations.

[-] CrawlMarks@hexbear.net 12 points 4 hours ago

Which is sad cause I was really intresting in his experiment he hadn't published the results of yet.

[-] borschtisgarbo@lemmygrad.ml 37 points 4 hours ago

Isn't it counterproductive to waste so much time to extend your life? Like it seems like it's all this guy does. Wouldn't having a standard lifestyle leave you with more time to experience life?

[-] Posadas@hexbear.net 54 points 4 hours ago

All of this to be out lived by a Chinese grandmother that smokes a pack a day.

[-] ShimmeringKoi@hexbear.net 8 points 3 hours ago

This is the answer, science can give us all the grandma juice

[-] StillNoLeftLeft@hexbear.net 18 points 4 hours ago

This is like a story of a guy who spent his entire life trying to find the fountain of youth. Never found it even though started looking for it from a young age. Could have also like, lived his life.

[-] keepcarrot@hexbear.net 2 points 38 minutes ago

Idk, that sounds more interesting than Bryan. Lots of hiking and hanging out at old libraries. Talking to archaeologists.

[-] Weedian@hexbear.net 13 points 4 hours ago

No way, jimmy Carter looks like he's having a blast

[-] SadArtemis@hexbear.net 3 points 1 hour ago

Jimmy's motivations are different probably, the man almost certainly knows he's going to hell if it exists (in the way his beliefs would see it as existing). He's clinging on for dear life lol

[-] miz@hexbear.net 46 points 5 hours ago

is that the weird super-rich hollow man who does blood transfusions with his son

yes, yes it is

[-] TankieTanuki@hexbear.net 4 points 47 minutes ago

super-rich hollow man

redundant

[-] JoeByeThen@hexbear.net 31 points 5 hours ago

Also Long Covid fucked his lungs up.

[-] Thordros@hexbear.net 14 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

I had kids because I wanted somebody to take out the garbage when I'm too tired after work.

You had kids because you wanted a Blood Boy.

100,000's of years of evolution to maximize the efficiency of the enzymes etc. in the human body:

[-] SacredExcrement@hexbear.net 26 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago)

This guy is gonna do all this work, making his life bereft of meaning or experiences in exchange for longevity, so that he can maybe make it to 110 or something and die

And that's assuming he actually does LENGTHEN his life with all this nonsense, and that he doesn't end up making himself super vulnerable to something and die much earlier

[-] keepcarrot@hexbear.net 3 points 38 minutes ago

I think he's going to die in a car crash or something

[-] fox@hexbear.net 14 points 4 hours ago

The only thing that has any backing that extends life is staying moderately fit and active. Having a reason to get up in the morning and move your body is basically the entirety of the secret.

Of course in a grand irony for this dude, giving blood is basically the best and only way to lower your body's microplastic and heavy metal accumulation, which might possibly have an effect on your health in old age. Taking blood doesn't do shit.

[-] culpritus@hexbear.net 31 points 5 hours ago

Serial cold-plungers being the patient-zero of the zombie pandemic is definitely within the possibilities of this wacky world.

[-] Azarova@hexbear.net 21 points 5 hours ago

I'm not a doctor but that seems like a bad thing

[-] Weedian@hexbear.net 17 points 5 hours ago

That's just hypothermia

[-] Poogona@hexbear.net 10 points 4 hours ago

There's something truly pitiable about people like this who are seeking this level of control over something as inevitable as mortality.

[-] StillNoLeftLeft@hexbear.net 8 points 4 hours ago

This is the embodiment of neoliberalism.

[-] MaxOS@hexbear.net 11 points 4 hours ago

I see his health rapidly declining in the next five years

[-] CrawlMarks@hexbear.net 9 points 4 hours ago

From what I am seing he said he is starving himself to achieve this effect. It is impressive to see someone with a body temp this low and not be in an ICU. I think though he is doing way more than that and that by doing so much he is doing terrible science. If he does actually see results it will be impossible to know what factor or combination of factors caused it.

Think its that rich guy who spends all his time trying to min max his health to live longer. He also gets blood transfusions from his son
