Korn, like the nu metal band

I know KoЯn, they are a big part of my childhood music expirence, but I still don't quite get it. What's the joke?

[-] daggermoon@lemmy.world 5 points 3 weeks ago

No joke, just thought it was funny they both share an uncommon name.

I'm German and "Korn" just means "corn ... or rather any wheat like product". I'm still not quite sure what's so funny.

You're looking for the word grain.

Humor is subjective. Love your language by the way. I hope to learn it someday.

Quite sure. Thank you for your concern as to whether or not I have some form of amnesia.

Shudders in WSL!

I had to use that when I supported windows servers running WSL many years ago, did not like it want to use it

[-] daggermoon@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago

Do you mean Windows Services for UNIX? I don't think WSL was a thing yet.

[-] mhzawadi@lemmy.horwood.cloud 0 points 3 weeks ago

Windows subsystem for Linux, before they did that thing with Ubuntu.

I had to VPN to a server, then RDP to another server and then a webby RDP to a server with WSL to run a java command line web application. It was the most descusting thing I have ever done

Tell me you're a linux noob without telling me you're a linux noob.

This has been around since 1983. It pre-dates the band by 11 years. It's also German for - guess what - corn.

Grow up.

I actually installed ksh out of curiosity and have been playing around with it. Good shit. I'll probably stick with zsh though.
