I mean I do think that there has been a general eroision of trust in liberalism since the beginning of the Trump Era back in 2016. Maybe even back in 2008 but these days its much more out in the open.

At least I get the vibe that there are a metric fuckton of unhappy people which also explains the rise of neo-reactionary politics and groups.

I w i l l say. though... I also think that even some rightwingers are slowly getting disillusioned with Trump/Maga.....which could go either way into an even more extreme right turn or a return to more lib politics.

Just looking at the USA here since I assume that is what OP is talking about. Even though I think Europeans being spineless weasles also will help to delegitimize liberalism.

I posted about my Legion Imperialis project (Warhammer 30k) a while ago.

Here we have two bases of Tech-Thralls from the Mechanicum faction all painted up.

This is just a test paint job so I might do some touchups later. I think Im going to try a brighter red next time on the other models.

I only need ten of the Techthralls for my army, so the overall work isnt too bad.

I havent painted minis in ages, and Im completely new to the 8mm scale its definitely a interesting change of pace.

Below are two bases of Tech Thralls from the Mechanicum faction. The game is Legion Imperialis, an 8mm tabletop wargame set during the Horus Heresy (Warhammer 30K). These are two test units primed with Wraithbone. Im going to try painting them with Army Painter Speedpaints.

And yes im aware the models are super tiny. Which brings its own challenges but also appeal to the game and the painting.

I might post the one or the other progress pic over time. Of the whole army I mean . These guys wont take me that long I hope

Seems its inspired by Dawn of War 1 which is good for me since that was my favourite Dawn of War. Admech and Orks as factions from the getgo is also cool .

So Im thinking about playing one of these games for the next 10 days or so. Assume all DLCs and the newest version.

Stellaris. This ones a favorite of mine, but I already have north of 500h in it. I havent really messed around with the newest 4.0 update that much, and I still need to properly “learn” it / get into it. But just based on the sheer number of hours I’ve played, I know how to have fun with it. Its Comfort food.

Imperator: Rome. I have only got about 20–30h in this one, but I liked what I played. The game feels a bit basic, but I would play it with the highly recommended Invictus mod. Probably as Carthage or one of the Diadochi. It’s not one of my faves, but I’ve been wanting to get back into it one day.

Age of Wonders 4. Not 100% sure how I feel about this one. I’ve got a bit over 50h in it. I like it, but I don’t love it. I think I need to play more of the turn based battles to get the most out of it. I tend to auto resolve too much. The nice thing is I can usually finish a game in about 6h, or under 10h at least. I think its a cool game but I think I havent clicked with it just yet.

Victoria 3. Close to 90h in this one. I really like this one. The game really found its stride with the last big update. Unlike the others, I already have a save that’s like 40 years in as Spain, and I’m doing okay (as far as I know). It’s funny, sometimes I tank my economy other times I do fine, but I can’t always tell what exactly I did right or wrong. Kinda fun though. I definitely lack deeper game knowledge, which makes it the opposite of Stellaris, where Ive got an almost natural affinity for it.

Early Access release is on the 22nd of September so still quite a while till the full game is out. Demo goes till Monday August 18 if you are busy.

My own feelings are AMPLITUDE Studios is amazing at the whole aesthetic side speak gfx/art/UI and music. Endless Space 2 is fucking gorgeous. But they do feel mechanically weaker than some other tighter games.

While imho not as good looking (yet?) as Endless Space 2 ... Endless Legend 2 makes a good first impression but I gotta play the demo a bit more. Game is also probably gonna see at least 6 months of EA . So this is an early version of the full game and also time limited.

I cant really talk much about Endless Legend 2 beyond its fancy looks; gotta play it more (which I will do now)

Another Owlcat game currently in development. Its a third-person sci-fi action RPG set in the universe of The Expanse. Gut feeling tells me Mass Effect in the Expanse universe, at least Owlcat has better writers than Bioware so this has some potential.

(The game is afaik) Their most ambitious project. They currently have 3 games in development, Dark Heresy, Expanse and a 3rd unannounced game.

My biggest worry is that Owlcat might be stretching themselves to thin....I just hope they know what they are doing.
