[-] AnneVolin@lemmy.ml 43 points 1 day ago

19% approval rating

Listen he captured the support of the difficult 20%, the easy 80% is going to be easy right? Pareto Principle of Martial Law.

My first thought was I’m surprised the president has unchecked martial law powers. But apparently parliament can just say no. Why would you try to do a coup this way lmao.

[-] miz@hexbear.net 46 points 1 day ago

lmao he's having the military block the doors to parliament so they can't vote down martial law

[-] Bureaucrat@hexbear.net 24 points 1 day ago

French revolution ahh moment

[-] oscardejarjayes@hexbear.net 36 points 1 day ago

Well, he tried to stop them from assembling so they can't say no, but they broke in and scaled walls (reportedly), and then voted no.

[-] NephewAlphaBravo@hexbear.net 37 points 23 hours ago

lmfao, it only works if you're inside the magic democracy building?

[-] BashfulBob@hexbear.net 29 points 23 hours ago

Unironically. Although, if your parliament is arrested by the military, there's a certain material reality that a vote in an context won't change.

In this case, the military slow rolled implementation of the President's orders. The tanks and helicopters he called in never showed and the guard troops caved in the face of an angry mob.

So they were able to walk in and make the repeal of Marshal Law official precisely because they had the tacit support of a reluctant military.

smuglord Ackshually it's martial law, checkmate tankie

Maybe that whole Masonic conspiracy thing was on to something and the buildings are magical

[-] Posadas@hexbear.net 31 points 1 day ago

Just have the kkkops stand infront of the door.

Can't hold a vote in parliament if you can't get in the building.

And you loony tankoids hated the Parliamentarian but now they're good because they save your ass?

I'm a tankie but for President Yoon's 2024 declaration of martial law in South Korea, not the invasion of Czechoslovakia.

[-] TheLastHero@hexbear.net 30 points 1 day ago

Just a heated gamer moment, the president is rage quitting and bringing the country down with him

[-] bdonvr@thelemmy.club 9 points 23 hours ago

He's apparently one step ahead of that

[-] Lussy@hexbear.net 51 points 1 day ago

In imperial lackey Korea, a head of state having sub 20 percent approval rating is actually a really good thing, you probably wouldn’t understand if I explained it to you

[-] Rod_Blagojevic@hexbear.net 11 points 20 hours ago

If everyone hates him he must be doing something right

Thanks for the support Comrade Kim, you've finally pushed the libs on this site to do some praxis in Bad Koreakim-peace

[-] GoodGuyWithACat@hexbear.net 30 points 1 day ago

Is this because some South Korean women aren't having sex with men?

What's up with this guy? Is he a rightwinger mad at the libs or a leftwinger being rat fucked? Either way totally insane to just call the opposition North Korean agents.

[-] barrbaric@hexbear.net 51 points 1 day ago

Rightwinger mad at libs, the opposition controls government so all he can do is veto whatever they pass.
